Madoka damn it.

Now I have to re-rate all the Magical Girl series that I have watched.

Edit: Sweet! Got it on sale for cheap. Couldn't pass this one up to buy.

Wow. That ending was so much more creative and generally outstanding than I expected it to be. Madoka used all of the reality-bending potential energy that had built around her to completely screw over the laws of the setting's universe and rewrite them.

That's ridiculously cool. It was good writing leading all the way up to this conclusion too.

I'm very pleased with this. Surprisingly enough it's one of the most optimistic endings I've seen in the genre despite Madoka's decision phasing her out of existence. She wound up "saving the universe" in a completely different way than Kyuubei intended.

I now understand this show's reputation. Admittedly, I was skeptical going into this watch, and although I still think it's too much to say it completely redefines the genre or makes the greatness of certain others any less, this was definitely very well done. Madoka Magica has earned my respect.

What a nice surprise.

If you haven't, watch the entire series again... It is one of the few series where your perspective of many scenes change COMPLETELY. Small details once overlooked become full of meaning.

Fuck! I'm so fucking confused on most parts, but goddamn that was a great way to end this show. This is the ending I loved the most: when it raises A LOT of questions that you have to figure out yourself. Lmfao.

Oh god. I cried so hard because, maaan, Madoka is the best girl out of this show like literally (Homura is 2nd). Madoka saved everyone and became like a God, and everyone she loves forgot her. Hahahaha I'm not okay. *cries in the fucking pathetic corner*

I think what made me cry the most is when she gave Homura her ribbon and their dialogue throughout that scene, and shit when Madoka fucking disappeared. Ohmyfuckinggod!

And I cried yet again when Sayaka's watching Kamijou performing and it hurts me like hell seeing that they'll not end up together, and honestly ugh I don't want Kamijou to end up with Hitomi. Hahahahahahahaha! Ohmygod.

I'm so not okay. I don't know what to say anymore. This anime is just glorious and that ending was so unexpected, I thought it'll stop at Madoka saving everyone, nooooo there's more so the viewers will suffer from mindblown. Hahaha. I fucking love you, Madoka! :'( That was a very beautiful ending, maaan. Now I'm gonna watch the movies. Fucksake, maaan.

9/10 for now, but I might change it to 10/10 once I finally figured out the ending because this is a lot to take in because I'm fCUKING CRYING!

FUCKING SHAFT DID IT AGAIN! HANDS DOWN!

That's a bit too bland of an ending if I was the one dying; I want him and every specie that benefits from their operation to get fcked over by my wish. Of course this is probably a good reason why I would never be offered to be a mahou shoujo.

Well I guess it did manage to make darker magical girls shows more popular and inspire other similar shows but yeah in terms of the actual genre it barely changed anything.

Madoka Magica delivers a gripping thriller with a grimdark rendition of magical girl genre tropes.

Man, I'm so relieved that I enjoyed this as much as the first time. There were no surprises waiting this time, but I got more into it emotionally.

The setting and characters of this show are simple, the plot is pretty straight-forward (with a few well-timed twists), and it's not actually a deconstruction of Magical Girl genre. It's certainly not perfect, as no art is ever objectively perfect. Still, there is something about it that is special to me, even after three years. It is a tightly paced thriller that maintains a suspenseful atmosphere by twisting a few magical girl genre tropes against a group of cute girls, concluding on a fitting shade of bittersweet - but I think there is more to it.

Is it the way despair is turned up to eleven, just like in a tragedy play, but hope still wins out? Or maybe it's the camaraderie and relationships between the five girls (with a healthy dose of subtext). The music and the visual aesthetic are definitely right up my alley, as is the pattern of relatively innocent characters powering through extreme hardship.

Probably all of those things play into it. They all combine into an atmosphere or "essence" that just speaks to me. Either way, Madoka was a great choice for my first ever "true" rewatch (as the both rewatches I've done so far targeted titles from the Summer 2017 season). Next up, Rebellion.

This series was really, really good. A deconstruction that went really well and in 12 episodes did everything much better than shows with many more. It's only flaw is that its animation drops quite hard sometimes. Also a 14 year old girl became God, man I think I saw this somewhere else...

Anyway this series was so, damn, good.

Can't wait to watch Madoka 3

9/10

Okay, not bad. Eps 10 and 11 brought my initial rating for Madoka Magica up by a point. The finale ep wasn't too bad either. The new monsters at the end were funny lookin' xD

Character development for Madoka was hella slow, but it makes sense since Homura was the one trying to block her from evolving into a Puella Magi :3

I like how they touched up on certain events near the end, like the one where there's a timeline where Kamijou became a professional violinist and he sensed Sayaka after playing his piece; it was sweet how she got to watch him play one last time as well, with Madoka by her side. Fuck you, Hitomi LOLOL. And the part about Madoka's family >< little tidbits like that were nice

Also, I didn't realize it until the beginning of this ep when Madoka said it, but Kyubei is short for Incubator. Haha. I feel like I caught onto this slow xD InKYUBEItor :P

7/10

It was just annoying to me with Madoka being a weakling most throughout the anime and also the Sayaka arc. She's right-- she is an idiot -.- I liked how her and Sakura had a bad start but became friends anyways, in all the timelines :3 cute.

Anddddddd of course, Homura and Madoka have the best bestie friendship in the Madoka Magica anime <3 I can see why this show is highly rated-- although the majority of the beginning was hella rough start for me lol. I got soooooo annoyed with some things :P but otherwise, good anime. As I said before, the art style takes away some emotional aspects of this series for me. I didn't feel anything until the last 3 episodes, so there's that. Loved the opening right off the bat. Pros and Cons.

You can watch the sequel Madoka Magica Rebellion.

Side stories, you could try the manga "Different story"--> it tells the story about mami and kyouko before the series

as usual, watch [this (madoka spoilers)](http://i.imgur.com/tXqRSmK.jpg), before watching rebellion, just to make your day better =)

It doesn't end on a very bright note, it implies things will continue the same way but with less "suffering" for the girls. What happens with Homura in the future is unknown↓.

Movie 3 is hardly connected to this ending, it's officially a canon continuation but doesn't really suit as such. It's more of a fanservice garbage out of authors greedy assholes to milk the "franchise", completely disregarding consistency with the series and throwing everything up until this point into the trash. It starts in an undefined time in the future but doesn't actually focus on anything that involves the real world and the wraiths you saw here, and heavily ruins the series' whole plot, themes and characters for no reason. It also ends on a sort of inconclusive cliffhanger that could as well be another series with nothing to do with Madoka Magica as you know it.

Ah, thank you for actually responding to me and giving me a heads up on one of my anime challenges (they haven't all been roses, and movie 3 looks like another weed, lol)

After some reflection I understood the concepts and writing. I'm not ignorant to this, and believe it to be fact in most cases (in irl too), I have just spoiled myself with what I have watched recently and actually was surprised by this series. Not a masterpiece, but certainly had me thinking after the fact, which is always a plus in my book.
I'm going to have to revisit this at some point, for sure.

It definitely is a good anime for a rewatch. You can always spot something new and see a familiar situation in a different light especially when Homura is involved (:

Ending blew my expectations that's for sure. The characters aren't the most likable but the story was pretty good so no complaints there.

I like how she used her wish to save the world basically but I didn't like how like how she didn't really do much til the end.

Overall It was a decent anime.

I have small reviews for almost ALL anime I've seen. Unlike any regular MAL page you've seen.

Wow, Madoka Magica definitely lived up to all the hype. Loved almost everything about it, the story, the art, design and futuristic setting. felt a sci-fi vibe going on too. Even with all the good reviews, I didn't expect much going into the show. I guess that's why I'm so impressed, I expected very little. I actually thought it was going to be a standard magical girl story. My favorite character like most was Homura Akemi, least favorite was Sayaka.

I would've rated this show a 10/10 but I feel some of the plot elements is stopping it from being a masterpiece. But don't get me wrong, I love the overall story. Madoka Magica gets a solid 9/10.

Now on to the Madoka Magica movies! But 1st sleep, I binge-watched this show and now its 5am.

Didn't like the ending

So..what's there to say after 12 Episodes?...
- Madoka sucks, pretty annoying character

I had really high expectations since there was a time when everyone was talking about this anime and how mindblowing it is - but in the end i've to disagree...Sure, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't mindblowing or anything like that (imo: somewhere between fine and good)

The animation is pretty cool - as you would expect it to be (SHAFT guys, SHAFT!!) and the music is so well and fitting

Guess i'll watch the movies soon, there may be some changes

Lay down
Try not to cry
"Madoka"
CRY A LOT

I wonder what Madokas wishes in the different timelines were, she probably really went for the cake in the first.

I only now noticed they kinda teased Rebellion with the ending.

PS: Madokas mom not remembering her own daughter is one of the most depressing scenes I know, especially since her brothers remembers.

I cant believe this is 8 years old, especially since the animation quality was already so amazing. I should watch the remake movies again as well, to see how big the difference really is. But next is Rebellion for me.

At some point I said Nier Automata has the best OST of anything ever (if nothing else), but I actually like Madoka more.
