I think the finale was alright, pretty much details the aftermath after all the conflict going on with a short time skip (3 months I think?)

Oh man, the Lenalee and Yuu moments were priceless. I got a good laugh from that.

So I think the finale adapted around chapters 2+ chapters, seems decent for the pacing. This show has been a fun ride, very nostalgic overall. They handled the Yuu and Alma arc very well imo and was my favorite from the series. 7.5/10.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing while looking over crunchyroll this morning. I'll be finishing Hunter x Hunter later today then back on D. Grayman Hallow.

That's a nice way to execute the end without completely destroying the hope for the next installment 8 years later...
The art could have been better though.

Great finale and just as most of us expected, they ended it in the alley. Best place to end it. I never had any real qualms with the changes they did and the added scenes. I think they made it work out just fine overall. The wait for a new season™. See you all again in 8 years+ lmao.

I didn't think I could enjoy it because I've ended disliking the 1st season for some reason , but... I was wrong .
If the next arc are awesome like Alma's arc then I don't mind a 3rd season .

It was a very good finale imo. As the whole the season wasn't that amazing and had some downtimes, but still the adaptation was pretty good. The changes were mostly about Johnny, i think (if) there will be next season they can easily put that part in. Overall 8/10

Damn, as someone who never did catch up with the manga but loved the series, that declaration of Kanda becoming an exorcist again for Allen's sake.. that made me tear up. After everything he'd been through and the explanation for why he was so cold all that time.. he threw himself right back in because he finally understands how Allen really is. Freaking beautiful.

Great finale.

We get some background info from way back in the past probably just right after mana passed away. It's actually nice to see Cross take care of Allen compared to how you see him act most of the time. xD

Kanda being absolute savage towards Lenalee when they meet. XD Don't worry Lenalee, You'll always be beautiful in my eyes. :P
The Mugen awakening was great, Pretty great to see Kanda returning to the Order just to help Allen.

The Alley scene is really something, Seeing Allen suffer through his awakening all alone but at the same time doing his best to hold on is heartbreaking but also very moving in an inspiring sense. I said it last episode but the way Mana's words give Allen so much will to move forward is amazing.

Overall, I'm really glad D.Gray Man came back. I read through the manga because of it and I'm really glad I decided to read ahead and get caught up. The anime was good but it definitely could have been better. While they did capture the atmosphere of the manga well, I did think the presentation at times was underwhelming, Especially during the Alma Karma arc. Pacing was also a bit on the fast side save for the final quarter of the show, I suppose they wanted to burn through the chapters to so they could get to this point. While these final 2-3 episodes were fantastic the ones before them could have definitely been better, However I still enjoyed them and I'm glad we at least got something. Also I'm glad they kept the old soundtrack. :D

8/10 , Probably would have given 10 if I didn't feel that the anime could have been better as an adaptation.
Will hope for a new season, Whenever that is. :3

Okay finale. Pretty good sequel overall. It was nice to see more of some of my favourite characters from the original series.

Why is it still marked as "airing" on MAL tho? Is that a bug?

Great Finale!

Kanda coming back to the Order for the sake of Allen was awesome! Also always love the way he teases Lenalee.

Even though it was just in flashbacks, it was a nice tribute to Cross.

The alley scenes were just so heartbreaking seeing Allen have to endure the awakening and pain alone.

It was great to have a second season of D-Grayman finally and even though it was short, it was a great ride!

Here's hoping we see Allen, Kanda, and the rest of the crew again in five to eight years. I really hope I get to see them before I am to old to remember what is going on.

8/10 overall!
So glad that I'm not a huge manga reader, because the manga readers WHINE WAY TOO MUCH and have to RUIN every adapted anime for the ANIME ONLY WATCHERS!

How is it incomplete? It ended where it should've perfectly, just like the manga readers predicted. You're not going to find out what happens to them with a 13 episode adaptation, let alone no source material left to make another season.

You expect too much.

Fun fact: Itou Shizuka and Kobayashi Sanae voiced their characters in d.gray man starting from when they were 26. Murase Ayumu and Kakuma Ai voiced their characters in d.gray man (this season) at 28. (Allen Walker and Lenalee Lee)

Btw if anyone would be so kind as to tell me, which of the adaptations had art which was closer to the manga? I don't read the manga so it would be much appreciated if someone answered

Hopefully season 3 in 3 years!

Hallow got the designs closer to the manga. The previous anime took some liberties. But when Hallow came around, they changed things according to Hoshino's style, which threw many Anime-Only watchers off.

Great episode! They stopped just at the right point. Overall, they did a really nice job with this season (Not mentioning the animation and the pace on some parts, but well, it happens. Also the first can be fixed in the Blu-ray release.)

Kanda was... Stunning. Gorgeous. REALLY handsome at this episode. Seriously. His interactions with Lena are so damn funny and cute (And why not, a gift for shippers lol) I really love how he grow up as a character from this part onwards.

When we will see more DGM anime? Just like HxH, maybe in ten years........ Uh.... Okay, maybe in three......? Maaaaybeeee......?

I finished the last episode, but for some reason MAL still has this as airing, so I will have to wait before add this to finished series :/

About the episode itself, it was a nice way to end the series, and it ended in the moment I believed it would end. My only complaint was that Kanda's reappearence was rushed when in the manga that moment was very emotive, but I guess the studio wanted to end this further.
The flashbacks with Marian's past with Allen were as heartwarning as the manga, and also made the ending even more powerful.

And respecting Lavi and Bookman... well,

Now, respecting the anime, tbh, it wasn't the D. Gray Man sequel I expected. While they nailed the Apocryphos arc and some parts of the Alma Karma arc, the rushed pace in the earlier episodes, how static was the animation of the fights and the bad visuals at times (especially the character designs at some points, they really tried to recreate Hoshino's godly art animated very hard, but failed) makes this a lot less enjoyable of what I expected.
Not that I didn't expected a 10/10 show when this was announced as one cour, but compared to the prequel, it's kinda underwhelming.

However, even with all the cons, as a fan of D. Gray Man and after waiting all those years for a sequel (and more knowing this can be the last time we see D. Gray Man animated), I really enjoyed watching some of the panels, characters and scenes that the previous anime didn't animated in motion, and I think they handled the emotional scenes very well. And the Apocryphos arc was good, tbh.

Overall 7/10. And now, it's time to wait for another 8 years to have another anime adaptation of this great shonen...

For a review, the episode was decent.

But I think the art was very weak in it. This episode didn't have the best art on Cross, which I found most disappointing.

206 is a favorite manga chapter of mine. But the episode didn't give me the same feels the manga did. But we all tend to be more critical of our favorite moments. Example, I thought the Allen x lenalee goodbye was fine -like the manga. But for those who loved that scene in the manga, they had criticism of it not having the same feeling.

In any case, hopefully this adaptation was good promo for the manga, and more fans can get into it and liven the DGM fandom up again.

Psychological. He was traumatized after the ordeal with Mana. Then his mind shut down. Cross awakened him again by bringing up Mana. So then Allen adapted some of his personality traits. It was possibly a mental way of keeping Mana alive so to speak, or having a bit more of Mana with him, that he adapted his personality.

That's why Cross told him in the message to stop wearing Mana's mask. He was telling Allen to stop living in Mana's shadow, and acting like a Mana puppet. Cross wanted Allen to find his own path and beliefs, and be himself -not a repressed clone of Mana, going through life living for nothing but Mana. And Hoshino mentioned in interviews that one of the reasons Cross was so rough with Allen, and picked on him, was because he liked Dark Allen, which is closer to how Allen really is. And after Cross' message, you remember Lenalee noticed how Allen was less polite in speech.

First episode of Hallow kind of elaborated on this, basically he was wearing "Mana's mask" and trying to be a lot like him and started to speak very formally but Cross told him to stop wearing his mask and be himself, so he's not as formal as he was in the first anime but you can hardly notice. I guess he's adapted to much to Mana to go back to that angry kid he was before

Anyway, good finale and good sequel season. Favorite part was Kanda coming back and his scenes with Lenalee, liked seeing his resolve/development as a charcter there. No clue why there's a couple of super negative responses above, this was pretty faithful to the manga and it's mindblowing that this season even came into fruition with how much DGM has fallen off in relevance and sales after all these years. So I'd take what I can get, pacing problems in the first half my only major complaints, couldn't be me crying about every frame of animation that doesn't look god tier. Kind of wish they played the opening song at the end like most animes do since the beginning of the OP starts with Allen in the alley but oh well.

Gonna take a good 5-8 years for their to be enough content for another season but that's not even a given unless the BD/DVDs sell well or DGM manga sales skyrocket (then again it hardly ever release volumes now anyway). They're better off waiting for the manga to end instead of just filling 13 more episodes for an incomplete season but lol as if that's ever happening.

8/10

The art in this episode was quite mediocre (and it pains me to admit because I love this show). I understand the budget was low but it's still a huge disappointment.

Finale was great, it ended just like how it should have ended in the manga. Really looking forward to a third season, Searching for A.W arc is one of my favourite arcs in the manga.

I'm gonna miss this anime. It's one of my all-time favorites. :(
I hope they will update the manga much faster (monthly at the very least) and if that happens, hopefully a third season will come coz I think the next events will be really really really be interesting.
Time to read the remaining chapters of the manga (30+ for me).

The animation, though it has some inconsistencies, is slightly OK than the first season's (though I liked how dark-themed the animation on the previous season is).
It's just nice to see the characters back even if the voices are quite different now (it can't be helped).

Wishing for a season 3 A.S.A.P. :)

Kanda is back...and still a dick. God I love this guy.

Kanda to Lenalee: You've gotten ugly.

Anyways, I thought the finale was done well enough to keep viewers really interested in the next season. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. My major complaint is how they animated Lenalee through out the entire episode. She goes from good quality to "wtf is this" quality. Though I've gotten use to it since it happens a lot through out the season, it didn't make things easier when Kanda called Lenalee ugly. Since that scene, I kept staring at Lenalee and it seems to me the animators flipped-flop from good to bad quality often.

Despite my initial complaints through out the season, I still enjoyed this show very much. I could be very biased because I love the story and the nearly all the characters in the show, but I'd give this an 8/10. I liked Allen and Kanda's VA and a few of the Noahs as well, but the rest of the order like Lavi and Blonde General were really bad to the point I want to mute them. Lenalee at first was annoying but I've gotten use to her and Arystar just sounds too much like Sasuke that it bothered me. Arystar has more of a "gentle" voice when interacting with his friends but in this, he just sounds too pissed off.

One thing I can truly praise is the soundtrack. The nostalgia was great and some of it being remastered/remade was done very well and made the atmosphere in certain scenes even better. I loved the new version of the 14th's Melody a lot more than the old one, which is saying a lot because the old one was fantastic.

Anyways, 8/10. Gonna miss this a lot. If memory serves me correct, they are really not that far behind the manga. Meaning that this series will probably be gone for a really long time again. Let's just hope the Mangaka stays healthy and starts releasing more chapters frequently so there is more material for the anime to cover.

And so the show ends. Ends in exactly where I expected it to.

Was Hallow a show I expected? Not really. It had half the episode count I expected, while covering the material I expected. It had very bad animation and forgettable music. It had lots of QUALITY. The fights were pretty much still shots. When it slowed down it delivered some great moments and episodes, but overall iIt had a very rushed pacing that made lot of the story move at random pace. It skipped quite a few scenes I would have liked to see. It succeeded in establishing the atmosphere of some situations and utterly failed at others. And while they nailed some of material, it lacked the creativity in directing and the color scheme change from previous adaptation REALLY saturated here was distracting all the time. It was clearly not a priority project to the studio.

I am happy we got this even if it did not manage to live up to expectations. Now, time to continue reading the manga and hope that one day, in few decades(:/) we get more.

6/10 for the show.

Actually, I just recently watch D. Gray man and moved onto D. Gray man hollow. The first season wasn't as exciting and I was thinking if I should just drop it. But the second season was just awesome for me. The revelations and mysteries got me hyped up and I really want another season of it.🙏🙇
But I think the wait will die out my excitement sooner or later. The ending was not as satisfying for me but I think it was pretty good.I'm starting to hate the people in the Order and loving the Noah's and the Earl😂😂 but anyway, I was kinda hoping for 26 episodes since it's a sequel. I think I'll give it 8/10

That was a pretty good way to end a season that included stuff that's still unresolved in the manga. I'm so happy they went a little beyond Allen leaving the order because that would've felt less complete.

And I'm SO happy they animated Kanda coming back. I love that scene (and Kanda in general).

I'm such a D. Gray Man fangirl that I knew I'd end up giving this a high score as long as they stuck to the manga, which they did for the most part (and it wasn't anything huge, just cutting scenes or extending them or adding small stuff here and there), so 10/10 for me.
