Ofc good parents would yell at their kids if they do that
That'll make them really worried, especially with people in city/town
There are just too many kidnappers

Oh well it all ended nicely, good for them all :)

An interesting episode that involves Tsumugi leaving for a great journey to help her dad who is ill. The encounters that she has during the journey was pretty funny especially the shark part. Its lucky that she managed to get to Kotori's house though as the thought of a little girl wandering the streets by herself does make me worry about her.

Its interesting to see the relationship from Tsumugi's perspective though as usually its the other way round.

The food in this episode looks just as good. I myself love to have mochi so i found the process of making it pretty interesting

And the best episode so far!

I liked that scene in the beginning when Kouhei sends Tsumugi away by telling her to go to the living room so that he can rest in the meantime, but Tsumugi instead sits by the bed and waits for her father to get up. That simple gesture on her part hit home for me since I remember that way back in childhood, whenever my mom fell sick and was bedridden, I used to sit by her side until she was back on feet.

The two teenage girls playing along with Tsumugi and the old lady helping her cross the road reminded me of another adorable child-character named Yotsuba (from the manga Yotsubato!) and her interactions with various people in her locality.

Kouhei's reaction when he learns that Tsumugi has gone out by herself without informing him and his sudden burst of anger at her when he eventually finds her safe and sound, followed by Tsumugi's tantrums, were spot on. The entire scene was perfectly executed.

The brief flashback to Kotori and her father makes me hopeful for some more glimpses into her past and family-situation, particularly her relationship with her father.

My only guess is because we'll probably never get a second season since other shows like this haven't gotten one such as Barakamon.

Actually, that would depend on how the overall sales go, later.
Barakamon didn't achieve its full potential in sales, though it's still a profitting franchise.
There's simply no point in doing season 2. At least not that soon.

NNB! did reach max potential, and they did got 2nd season, didn't they?
You shouldn't lose hope, yet.

No idea on Endou Rina's availability for season 2 and beyond.
But she seems pretty serious in this business. And after her performance as Tsumugi here, there's just no way she or her parents don't put voice acting as #1 career choice. After all, it's big money profession there.
(I'm a bit more worried on her age, actually. She'll be soon on the age where her womanly voice develops. Hope the quality stays, because her acting is magnificent.)

I'm glad her dad yelled and got angry at her because she deserves it. She should be thankful there were so many kind passers-by and that she didn't get injured. And I was already pissed off when she kept disturbing her dad when he was sick. Let him sleep FFS.

Uwaaahh... This episode reminds me when my little brother suddenly disappear when I'm taking a nap. When I woke up and can't find him, I rush to the street and search for him in every block (nearly cried back then :P). And.... I saw him walk with my mom. So, my mom back from work early and take my brother for a walk. I felt so relieved and like suddenly lost all my power, just sit down on the street while my brother and my mom came to me. So, yeah, for me this episode just like, what they called it? "Right in the kokoro"? Hahahahaha
Don't like it? Just stop watching/reading it. Why become a masochist that keep going through something you don't like and bitching in the end of it?

Tsumugi with her vivid imagination reminded me a bit of Calvin and Hobbes. And man, that shark song is the cutest thing I've heard in a while.
This was also a nice change from the usual formula of the three of them spending like more than half of the episode cooking.

I thought the sensei held back massively; if I were in his place, I'd struck a few tight slaps on annoying brat's face (even more if she selfishly decided not to return home).

Honestly have no idea why you'd slap the poor girl, what she did was wrong, but she was worried about her dad, and after he yelled and they talked it out, she realized what she did was wrong, so im pretty sure hitting her would not have been necessary.

So Inuzuka is down with a fever and Tsumugi is worried about him, obviously. She can't use the phone, there is no one around whom she can ask for help, she doesn't know where anyone lives except for Kotori. So she goes there for help. Tsumugi thought of this as an adventure to save her dad when in reality she was doing a super dangerous thing. She's what, six or something? And she's roaming around the city alone. What if she gets hurt? What if some bad man does something to her? What if she gets lost? Tsumugi is a little kid so obviously she didn't think that far. Kotori should have at least told Tsumugi that she shouldn't have come all the way out here alone because it's dangerous. It was really good to see Inuzuka not being all happy that Tsumugi did all this for his sake and how brave she is or whatever. He was angry at her probably for the first time. That was nice seeing him shout at her out of pure concern. All those aforementioned things were running in his mind. The fact that Tsumugi was nowhere in the house was enough to get all that adrenaline out. And Tsugumi obviously started crying because first of all she was scolded big time like this and thought her father was being scary and who knows what he might end up doing, and second, she thought that she went all the way to Kotori and didn't cry or anything and she's getting a big scolding in return (the second point much less though). And Inuzuka wanted to go straight home to give Tsumugi some time out and Tsumugi grabbed hold of Kotori. It was also nice how Inuzuka got hold of his anger and apologized for his sudden outburst but then also had Tsumugi know that she shouldn't go out like that without notice.

Kotori didn't play a positive role here. Instead of telling Tsumugi how dangerous her little adventure was and how worried Inuzuka would be if he found out, she kinda encourages her by saying that she's brave and whatever. Obviously she is at least older than Tsumugi so she should know that little kids like her shouldn't wander around alone in the city. And then she said that she'll drop Tsumugi near her house and she'll have to go the remaining distance alone. She should at the very least drop Tsumugi at her door. I didn't expect the random people outside to do anything for her because obviously they're strangers, but Kotori isn't a stranger and her not doing any of that is disappointing.

The parts with Inuzuka and Tsumugi were done quite brilliantly but Kotori's role wasn't good enough here and that disappointed me. It was an overall good episode which could have been better though with some tweaking.

I don't blame Inuzuka for flipping out, if I had no idea where my child went off to I would be going crazy. He may have stepped over the line a little bit but when your blood pressure is flowing you lose it and I feel like the scene was really well done.

Tsumugi's adventure was awesome though, I love the "Shark" song lol.

Kotori is wife, like can they just get married already PLEASE!

Not a bad episode. But i was wondering why didn't kotari tell tsumugi that what she did was wrong ?
Like you have a 5 or 6 years old coming to your place and telling you that her father is sick , and this is how you deal with it ?

Also , why did she tell her that she will drop her near the house ? Why can't kotari get close to her house ? she should know that her father is going crazy .

A reminder to everyone that he (sensei) lost his wife just months ago.
Now he wakes up and his only daughter was missing.

Stressed from work, lack of sleep, and he just came from a fever.

Imagine his thoughts while he's running around the city aimlessly, teary-eyed, and his heart pounding.

That reunion must be a really big relief.

She deserved a spanking, there's no way that would be tolerated in my point of view. He held back in my opinion, if he doesn't enforce some rules there's a chance he'll later regret it. Not every city/town is safe, she's lucky no one took any interest in her. she's acting terribly spoilt imo and maybe that's because of how i was raised. Kotori is another idiot, she didn't react in a realistic way, you see a 5 year old show up on her own at your place, and you say nothing, acting like she's allowed to do such things. Yet Kotori knows her own boundaries like not getting to close to sensei's house like tf is this shit.

Yea that is a scary situation Inuzuka would have done what any other parent would have done if they thought they lost their child. Great episode

We use to walk on the line but instead of sharks it was don't fall in the lava. This brought back some childhood memories haha.

YES!!!! Oh boy I was the same way with the Lava, I mean now I wish it was Sharks but hey avoiding Lava was still cool haha.

I think a lot of people ship Kotori and Inuzuka, but yeah they NEED to end up together at the end. I doubt the anime will adapt the entire Manga though.

I agree with disliking parents who yell at their children as well, but that's what made that scene so much better. If he would have found her and just been relieved I don't think it would have been relatable.

I think Kouhei's reaction was absolutely correct. He might be angry but that only proves that he cares for Tsumugi that much more (no, I'm not saying parents should yell at their kids). There is one thing that bothered me though. I was expecting Kotori to tell Tsumugi that she shouldn't leave her house on her own but instead she told her that she was a good girl. That was a little unexpected for me.

Tsumugi has a great imagination, but was the only one worried while she was out and about. I'm not even a parent but I was terrified for her. This is a pleasant slice of life, so nothing dangerous would have happened. But still. Hopefully she doesn't do that again.

I couldn't agree more. I was disappointed by Kotori validating Tsumugi doing such a dangerous thing. She should've immediately tried to contact Kouhei and let him know that Tsumugi is safe, but instead she just gives her want she asks for and agrees to only walk her back part of the way.

He wasn't used to it at all. Also, when Tsumugi got ready to go out, she reminded me of a pokemon trainer heading out for their first time. And that was one heck of an adventure she went on, so much happened. AND WOW PEOPLE ARE NICE, well... at least most of them are, that one dude on the bicycle had to be a jerk. REALLY FREAKING GLAD Kotori was there, got worried for a bit.

And ummm... that second half... was really wondering how he was going too react, but like, didn't think he was gonna yell right off the bat, like, wow. Glad they made up pretty quickly, and Kotori burning the food was pretty funny... well... her face was, and now that I think about it, she just has kind of a funny face regularly.

I have seen people talk about shipping the two together and frankly. I didn't see it...till this ep. I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this to you, but in the first episode one of the other teachers says that she died six months ago. We have been moving slowly throughout the year, but it has still been within the year of his wife's death.

I had a little bit of a shipping feeling from episode one, but as I read the manga and watched more the ship has grown more in my heart.

The thing that usually makes me want it is because they are just so awkwardly cute together. And then, especially with this episode, Tsumagi tends to look to Kotori for like confirmation that she is doing good. So I feel like they are trying to play Kotori as kind of a motherly figure.

I think the seiyuu for Tsumugi sounds annoying sometimes especially when she says, " Oh---tousan" like there's a weird break/pause.

Still, it was a good episode and I understood both parties. Tsumugi wanted to help out her dad but disn't understand the dangers of the real world yet. While, imagine being her dad and waking up not knowing where your only child is. His outburst is completely understandable and it has happened to me many times.

It was realistically well done when Tsumugi's dad yelled at her for going out on her home. Thankfully, their's Kotori to help. Yeah its bad going out on her own, but the little one is so worried about him that asking for help is the only option she has.

Its time for dad to ask for help or ask people for help from others like Kotori and his friend. Ask them for their contact numbers.
