| Personally , i wouldn't say "Anime is lacking attractive bearded men" but "Anime is lacking attractive bearded men as Main Character" , you have some "attractive" bearded men here and there but most are like 40+ Years old and doesn't get much screentime . What is that ? XD |

Holo from Spice and Wolf is one of my absolute favourite female characters from most any medium and she's a redhead. Doesn't take away from her character being exquisitely written at all. If people are looking for better female characters anime is the last place to look. |

I read a lot of western comics as well, and it fails at having good female leads/characters too, more often than not. Though, they are actually, surprising, more prominent than in manga and anime. Some females that come to mind from western comics are Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Black Canary, Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel, Raven (from Teen Titans; mainly in the comics, though, love her in the show, lol). |

Holo and Chihaya are really good characters that come close to that ideal when it comes to it. |

I agree, anime tends to handle their female characters very poorly. It's a shame. Also anime loves to have that cookie cutter male MC. This is actually a good point. Japan does a lot of things opposite to how Western media does them, this is just one of many. The last thing anime needs is gruff, middle aged brown haired bearded men. What anime needs is bearded WOMEN. Mikasa should have had a beard to go with her killer abs. |

| Japan in general needs more attractive bearded men. In their culture they're supposed to shave until they're at least middle aged. I've heard in a video that it is acceptable to have a bit of hair on your face, but it should be kept fairly bare. |

Your last point is correct though, most anime are targeted to teenagers or young adults, who usually don't/can't sport any significant facial hair. |

| Kingdom is all about bearded Chinese men, warring over who has the best beard in all of China. Well, something along those lines at least. Too bad the anime (at least the first season) is fairly lackluster. Unless you prefer CGI beards. Still has one of the most bearded casts of any anime I have seen though. |
