Will you be watching anime through Oculus Rift when it comes out?

Nope, it would make the viewing experience total shit. Imagine watching subbed anime like that? Constantly having to move your head to read the subs, god it'd be awful.

I don't think I'll be getting the Oculus Rift any time soon. But I don't mind trying it at least once someday.

As someone who already tried to develop some app on it, no

1. You not fully utilizing head tracking, unless some japanese lap pillow "simulator"
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2716813/Are-pulling-leg-Oculus-Rift-technology-lets-rest-head-virtual-girlfriends-lap-feel-lonely.html

2. Anime is flat 2D media, unless they can come out with movie like stereoscopic experience.
And google cardboard enough for that.

3. Viewing range is small. I mean anime technically horizontal like flat tv while each Oculus rift lense only covered ... circular version of your eyes.

Technically now Oculus Rift already have retail price USD599, that is too much, which is not including beast pc needed to run it.

You might as well get decent smart TV which can play anime via thumbdrive.

However if you want to watch anime while lying down on bed, then get ipad or tablet.

*Oculus rift will be great for "if u know what i mean *wink* *wink*"
Nah, i dont think sharing anime ratings in signature is cool thing.

Here, stare at this pointless signature instead.

I hope you mean through a cinema app and not "real" VR. If so, not on 1st gen. Resolution is way too low. Otherwise yeah, I would.

Nah, I'd prefer my anime to stay 2D. Rather would watch 3D movies with it.

Not... "directly", but I'm eager to try using VR to simulate a humongous IMAX+ screen and watch anime/movies on that.

Lol it feels like you guys are only watching animes at home, but there are more possibilities ! In a few year we will definitely get some VR or AR glasses at Ray-ban sizes !! So we could use it to watch animes while we commute from home to work/school. Or even at WORK ! While our manager does not notice that we fake it. That will be so awesome. The glasses will be directly linked to your smartphone, so you can just start a video here and it will display through the VR. I will say for now Oculus Rift is just at the first step of VR.

Look out for Spaceglasses, Magic leap, Sony VR, HTC VR,...

No thanks. no need for VR unless it was a game that suited the use of VR. Though I 'd rather have a Holodeck.

I think people need to be more optimistic. All these drawback isn't dead end, they can be resolve in time.

Its just a matter of time before they start making anime that's meant to be watch with VR headset and it will be awesome. Japan always good with tech, they'll find a way to make it good. Honestly they will be more motivated to develop it for porn.

It would suck ass, since the oculus rift tries to make things 3d, so if you watch anime in 3d you get those horrible images of deformed anime characters.

Why would I want to watch anime in panoramic view
I also dislike 3D (it's more expensive and adds almost nothing).
I think watching anime through oculus rift would only be distracting.
