woops, I didn't understand it like this indeed. Hakomari, Tsukumodou and RnY are probably the easiest I know to start with. Well it depends of your strength and weakness in this language though. I discussed before about the difficulty of reading various novels, and some peoples had a very different opinion (for example, i ranked spice & wolf as fairly easy whereas some were ranking it as hard, while doing almost the contrary for Toradora or Haruhi).
It is interesting. ImO it's better in this genre than Hakomari by quite a good margin. 7 volumes long and finished, very quick read.
Since you've already read novels, I wouldn't call your japanese "terrible" at all x).
I read a lot of fantasy/SF/Science fantasy myself. hmm, did you like hakomari? you may want t o try tsukumodou kottouten since it's quite similar and quite easy to read.
Outside of that and rny/baccano we talked about before, maybe nanasawa matari's works, as well as sukasuka could be good possibilities.
