to be fair, Kanda shrine has been an otaku shrine for long as I know. What they did also not uncommon, for a few other shrines embrace the model of 'otaku pilgrimage' like the infamous Washinomiya shrine of lucky star. I believe what Oda said is intentionally to be a joke because no way he didn't know Akiba culture, but some people take it literally too far.

I haven't heard the term "Love Livers" before. I enjoyed reading the article. I liked Love Live and even read some of the manga. I think most of us can agree that Love Live has a better art style. If One Piece and Love Live! made an collab OVA or movie I would watch it.
I have 164 Love Live images on my laptop, I've uploaded 5 Love Live videos to Youtube, my MAL avatar is from Love Live, and I own a Love Live nendoroid so you could say I'd a bit of a fan. The comments that the Love Live fans and the One Piece said were equally stupid, so I don't get why this is such a big deal. Usually people only know about the worst part of any fanbase, so this isn't saying much.
