| I wish they had shown more of the bloodshed, and of how the Empire thought they were successfully conquering territory. Still, the adaptation is pretty solid, and it's just awesome to see Gate animated. Looking forward to seeing Kurebayashi and the rest of the 3rd Recon team next week! |

| I can't say I was too impressed with the first episode. The pacing was a bit too insanely fast for me, the protagonist goes from being an otaku to some kind of hero/solider within the span of 12 minutes. I feel like I've seen this plot loads of times beforehand as well, it definitely isn't anything original, which isn't necessarily a bad thing in itself, but with so many fantasy anime recently such as DanMachi, it's getting old fast. |

| I really don't want to be that guy... but some of you people just want it to be unnecessarily "edgy". Violence was there, but it wasn't overplayed. It does not become better if you replace cavalry cutting someone's stomach by cavalry cutting off someone's head. There was enough gore to bring the "point" across. Though I agree that almost everything beside the vehicles was a bit lacking in terms of visual quality. |

| Pretty original concept. At first I wasn't that happy when I saw military (I was looking for nice fantasy anime x)), but I guess it can work here :) I hope it will be epic. Also, opening song is absolutely awesome ! <3 |

| Excellent beginning. I don't mind the gore being off-screen as they way they do it leaves no doubt what just happened. If this broadens the audience then I'm all for it, as that will increase its popularity, sales, etc etc without really detracting from the story. Makes sense that they are equipping the expeditionary force with older model equipment. Notice that in the opening battle scene the JGSDF troops were using flares instead of night vision? They have no idea how the Gate appeared, and so they have no idea if it might disappear. I wondered a moment at the three month span between the Ginza incident and the departure of the Expeditionary Force, but then I realized that does make sense. No one in the current military has ever organized a major ground offensive before, and they would want to make sure they got it right, as well as retrieve and re-issue the older equipment. REALLY looking forward to next week! Keep up the good work A1 ! |

Interesting concept. Modern military vs medieval army. And I like that the main character isn't a high school student. I pity the otaku who probably just wanted some H-doujins but had to fight a war for them.  Looks like best girl based on character design.  |

| Wow that was a pretty solid first episode! I'm liking the mix of modern and fantasy/medieval elements since they almost never collide. I was wondering why the OP sounded so much like the one for Highschool of the Dead then looked the band up and found out it's the same band. |

| Haven't seen much shows from this season since it's only the start, but this one was weirdly and surprisingly the best so far for me. The story is still a lot to ask for but the premise is nice and it definitely has potential, for real hope that it won't go down in quality that much. |

| Pretty rushed for a first episode, but wasn't all that terrible. A-1 will probably start messing up soon though.. Youji is a cool guy with his priorities set up. Saving the city and rescuing citizens so he'd be able to get his hands on the doujinshis. Too bad, the convention got cancelled altogether. Average start. OP isn't as good as the ED. Modern technologies vs. Fantasy beings & Medieval knights should be decent as long as they properly adapt it. |

| WOW this one is gold. I was planing on reading the manga/novel and then this happen. With the first episode, I already know I would love this series. I will still read the manga/novel either way. Glad this got turns into a series. |

| LOVE IT. I didn't expect to be so hooked after the first episode. The main characters love for manga and how he got angry over it being cancelled reminded me of Saitama from One Punch man :D. I like the premise of the story, and when Itami killed that soldier with the knife HE WAS SOO BAD ASS, it would be interesting how he will hold himself in the world beyond the gate. Also the female characters looked pretty awesome, especially the Goth Loli like Itami said :D. |

| Hm I didn't really want to watch it at first because I'm not really a fan of military anime... but it seems fairly interesting. The protagonist actually kind of reminds me of Rider from Fate/Zero. He jokes around a lot and on the surface his priorities seem kind of off, but when it comes down to it he can take stuff seriously. |
| It's alright. They didn't f*ck up anything yet, but that could still happen. | Not impressed. This show sure isnt brimming with creativity. it takes less than a minute to come up with a setting and a premise like this. Also the violence just looks funny. i Saw a guy cut half of his body open and he barely lost some blood. this was strange at best. 2/5 |

| I didn't like it , the fact that the MC is an otaku totally fucked up the background and, I mean, I thought that this anime was going to be a serious anime, but no, because it's A-1 Pictures we must fall with a SAO bis, so... Romance with cute catgirls, elf, and all these shit. And the MC is fucking pathetic, people died in this attack, and what does he think about it ? "Oh noo I couldn't buy the last doujinshi" Well, it begins with a 3/10 for me, because the animation was not bad, and I liked the moment where the MC notice that the little girl lost his father in this attack. |

| It felt rushed with some poor moments in directing and scene transition. But other than that, it was kinda nice. The MC is somewhat funny, capable, and can actually do shit right from episode 1 which is a plus. I think I'll stick to this. I'm kinda interested on where they're gonna go with this. |
| I watched this without reading anything about it like I do for all new season anime to give it a fair shot... At first I was unimpressed. "Oh boy, looks like we have a clone of Outbreak Company on our hands here." And then I see him dispatch a guy with a knife. I knew right then and there we were in new territory. I really liked this one and look forward to the next episode. |

| I actually thought it's going to be more rushed than what it is right now. I'm sad that they toned down the violence though.
