It shame that one of the best anime in last season, Akatsuki no Yona, get low sales

On other hand, a slice of life crap with school settings like Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata get good sales. Every season we get many similar anime to this generic crap.

Plastic Memories sales is also disappointing.

I'm sorry but Akatsuki no Yona had 24 episodes and still wasn't as good as Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata

It was already said that BD sales won't affect probability of Yona S2.

It was? I didn't know. Why? Not like I don't like the idea. Just curious.

Because as it was said, not all of the anime is made to sell disks. Actually only if anime is not based on any media than it's mian purpose is not to bump manga/LN/VN/biook/game sales. If discs sold well — even better, but it's just a bonus. And in case of AnY they don't even hoped BDs/DVDs will sell, that's why they were released so late.

And BTW even original animes generally get most of the profit from merchandise. Yes, sometime disk sales could affect probability of new season but not as often as you think.

It is hundred times better than Saenai

What Saenai is about ? About school boy having relation with school girl ?! meh Watching one episode was enough for me to drop this crap.

I guess sorta understandable since it did take me a while to get into them, too.

Kuroko with a nice second week, all I really care about. Keep truckin', boys. Akatsuki no Yona was an okay show, but I'd like a second season. It got a huge manga boost and it's disc sales are looking decent, so it should hopefully get a second season.

Anyway, Kekkai Sensen comes out on 17th, so I'm excited to see how it will do. I'm hoping for some big numbers because it is a fantastic show.

I watched both Root A and Yona while they were airing and the difference was astounding. Yona is not only much more beautiful, but the anime itself was much better. Solid fantasy series, great comedy, and wonderful characters and writing. I'd suggest watching at least six episodes.

Nope. There's hardly anything that happened in the anime considering it had 24 episodes. And it can be easily justified if you have read the manga. The anime ended right before the best part. The manga gets probably 20 times better in the chapters around 60-70 and kept the quality throughout that followed. There is a reason why it is one of the top 5 shoujo manga in MAL and ranked 32 overall in all time top manga in MAL. Some chapters gave me goosebumps and mind that I am talking about a shoujo manga here. Under the mischievous mask of a bishounen shoujo manga it has one of the most well thought out political scenarios, one of the most intriguing characters those are driven by their motives — some extremely mysterious, while others with strong will to move forward; this is probably one of the best manga in recent years, in shoujo genre, probably one of the all time best.

But don't talk ill of my Katou. I will be crossed >,<

Yes, nothing does happen in the 24 episodes except that she has gathered all the dragons but the pace suited the show perfectly because it would've felt rushed and unreal if they cut the screen time of Yona persuading the dragons to join her.

By the way, we're derailing this thread. Let's just hope it gets a second season so the good part will get animated. The whole show was like a prologue for the main plot.

This was going to happen anyway (it was only a question of when), but the Love Live! Best Live! Collection II by μ's has been gold disc certified by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for having at least 100K copies shipped:
http://www.riaj.or.jp/data/others/gold/201505.html

This is the 5th Love Live! CD to be gold disc certified after それは僕たちの奇跡 (2nd Season OP) by μ's, タカラモノズ/Paradise Live (mobile game theme song) by μ's, Love Live! Best Live! Collection (album) by μ's, and 冬がくれた予感 (subunit collaboration with the mobile game) by BiBi.

Actual sales are of course always lower than shipment numbers since rarely are all copies "sold", but this one should easily go over 100K Oricon sales after それは僕たちの奇跡 and Love Live! Best Live! Collection did so last year. タカラモノズ/Paradise Live is stuck at 98,224 and 冬がくれた予感 is stuck at 94,404.

This is a great result for a non-mainstream artist, but I suspect Houkago Tea Time of K-ON! has had more gold disc certifications. HTT was just in another realm in terms of CD sales for late-night anime franchises.

EDIT: Yeah, HTT had 8 releases with over 100K Oricon sales (1 album reached over 200K Oricon sales), so definitely it would've had at least 8 gold disc certifications from the RIAJ.

Feels strangely good to see Magical Boys (Binan Koukou) doing so well. Maybe it'll encourage a second season and more fun parodies like it!

Mostly unsurprising sale numbers though, kinda sad about YuriKuma's sales. Seeing the Kekkai Sensen OP/ED sell well is always a nice thing though. Not a huge fan of the show, but those two songs are pretty sweet.

Preliminary DVD & Blu-ray Sales Rankings for Winter 2015 (First Volumes)

**. **,*** Doamaiger D (2015/*5/27) [DVD]

I think you need to put a note in saying this is including the G4U game BD bundle (which did 24,341), because it clearly isn't only BD+DVD sales.

Also, Gundam Origin should probably not be in this list, since it is an OVA series rather than a TV anime.

Aldnoah.Zero 2 is missing from this list, which did 7,990 in 6 weeks of sales.

The number for Yuri Kuma Arashi is out of date. It is at 1,310 after DVD sales became known due to newer lower bounds in the Oricon extended lists.

Military! is also out of date, as it is now at 552 after 3 weeks of sales.

Doamaiger D did between 146 and 162 DVDs. So it should be set to its lower bound of 146.

Thank you, fixed.

Aldnoah Zero is removed.

Denpa Kyoushi is a day-time show, I don't think they ever gave a shit about BD sales. Its low sales where expected.

So are Gintama, Aikatsu, Nanatsu and Yokai Watch, albeit very special exceptions. If they didn't expect at least something to happen with the discs anyway though why put Kamiya and Matsui in there and then add an event ticket? It just seems like literally the quality was so bad that even then the fans decided to take a pass this time.
.

I think you are missing his point.
They don't care disc sales is exaggaration, everyone want money whatever the souces is but what they ''MAINLY'' want to achieve by Denpa kyoshi anime is rather increasing popularity of Weekly Shounen Sunday than disc sales of Denpa kyoshi.

That is why they chosen non ani-ota friendly art work which work against BD/DVD sales but good for wider audience.Denpa kyoshi would not be in top 10 viewer rating ranking if they used typical anime-fan-friendly art style.

This is viewer rating ranking in other words ranking of widely watched anime

Spamming words here doesn't contribute anything to sales. Your point is moot.

You should look at the sales rather than the rank. The rank is only a formality of which anime make the cut-offs for inclusion into today's preliminary BD and DVD list.

Akatsuki no Yona Vol.1 has sold at least 4,011 after 2 weeks. This is pretty average sales, but the good thing is that the anime has done its job of advertising the source material (the manga saw a boost in sales). As long as the production committee thinks that a sequel can provide further boosts to the manga, then it should have a decent chance of getting a sequel.

EDIT: I looked at the Oricon BD extended list, Akatsuki no Yona Vol.1 is now sitting between 2,018 and 2,030 BDs. It means it sold 198 to 210 BDs this week. Rank 120 sold 193, so it may or may not make it into the BD100 list on Thursday/Friday for a more precise BD number. That brings the total to 4,011~4,023 after 2 weeks.

Are the people complaining about Yona's sales even looking at the same number here?! 4k for a shoujo especially this late after the anime aired seems like a heck of an impressive number to me! I actually think maybe a season 2 might be feasible if it can continue to put up this kind of number in future volumes (3k average maybe?) if the publisher wants another manga boost. Maybe I'm wrong, but in this context that seems like good sales to me!

And comparing it to Saenai?! Why don't we compare it to Gundam while we're at it? Jeez apples and oranges...

Actually the animation isn't really that good, it's low budget. I'd say that if you compare the anime to the manga the anime is really bland in comparison. People who are watching Soma would probably have no incentive in buying it because cooking isn't something that's interesting and add to the fact people only buy a few select series per season considering how expensive anime is. So to them Soma would probably not be their choice.

I can't see Saekano on your list, so I assume you haven't watched it.

I thought it was going to be a generic SOL harem as well, until I found out that the writer also wrote White Album 2, which I expected to be a generic harem. However, WA2 was surprisingly good so I gave Saekano a chance. And boy, I did not regret it.

At first glance, it might look like your generic harem anime. I'm not saying it's MUCH more than that, but it is definitely more than that. There are small things in Saekano which seperates it from the 2-3 generic harems we get every season.
I can understand why Japan likes it. It's definitely not the case that Japan buys every single generic harem anime that's released every season. But they did buy Saekano, and there's a very good reason for that.

As for Yona, it's sad that its sales are low. I heard very good things about it. I've also heard that the sales do not really matter for the show though, so there might be a second season in the future.

Why you guys are even complaining about Yona and Ore monogatari sales? They are shoujo duh, they don't normally buy discs, that was expected.

That said, Mr.Children is indeed a monster in Japan, but 300k is nothing compared to the old 2000ish sales with their seven digit sales for the top charts. Mr. Children is one of the few survivors from the chart which had been dominated with idols for these late several years.

People need to realize the difference between popularity here and in Japan. Food Wars is getting pretty big in the west, but you shouldn't be surprised if it sells like shit in Japan. Just look at Tokyo Ghoul and Parasite, sure they sold OK but nowhere near as much as the hype over here would suggest.

And I bet almost none of you guys have seen Fafner: Dead Aggressor, yet it is one of the highest selling anime of late 2014/2015 with >10k sales.

Brah have you seen the Manga sales for Tokyo Ghoul which sells about 900K per Vol. plus the merchandise is selling like hotcakes. Tokyo Ghoul is much popular in Japan than the west so I don't know what your talking about. Also the reason the BD didn't sell that much was because the anime was shit and to buyers that wouldn't be a good incentive to buy especially when anime is expensive. So yeah your really underestimating Tokyo Ghoul's popularity.

Looks like I need to depend more on the storefront rankings for Show By Rock than the normal rankings.

We're talking about anime sales here. I don't even know how much a manga costs, much less follow the sales.
