None of the recommendations I'll leave below are short, but they are all finished manga:
➤Main character of gender opposite to the demographic Yankee-kun to Megane-chan (though here it's a little hard to say who the main character is)
➤Main character that is a professional in his field Bakuman
➤Manga that focuses on non-romantic relationships Nabari no Ou or Hourou Musuko

I actually have a friend who's been bugging me to read Yankee-kun to Megane-chan for a while now, guess it's time to do that. Nabari no Ou and Houroru no Musuko seem pretty interesting in their own ways, so I'll make sure to check them out. I don't think I'll be reading Bakuman any time soon though, since I already watched the anime and right now I'd prefer to read something that's entirely new to me.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the recommendations and for making this challenge possible.

I don't think loli incest can count as a genre since they seem more like tropes/topics? I'm not sure. I consider that you can call a genre a tag that a manga has that is not a demographic in MAL. Other participants can definitely weigh in here though!

As for a manga about food, I haven't read any that I recall, but Yakitate!! Japan has been recommended to me before, though it's a bit long.

That said, I checked your blog entry and I must say that Pluto is not by Osamu Tezuka. Although he is listed as a writer, he had no involvement in the series. He was credited as a writer because the manga is based on a story by him, but it was done by Urasawa Naoki.

I can just use Pluto for my entry that goes with my my first letter of my username then ahaha.
Yakitate!! Japan is a bit long. I hadn't particularly realized that food manga were quite long or still publishing.

Hi. I also need help for the two categories:
[*] Read a manga recommended to you by another Manga Reading Challenge participant
[*] Read a manga that another user has read for this challenge

It should be a manga, is complete, at least 5 volumes long, and hopefully not a romance. :) I sound demanding, sorry.

Thanks! I have SKET Dance for the comedy/SOL one. Does Air Gear turn serious at some points like Beelzebub (which I really liked)?

Participant recommendation: Takemitsu Zamurai

A manga that another user has read for his/her challenge: Hito Hitori Futari

Both meet the recommendation criteria you've set, a non-romantic central setting and count more than 5 volumes.

Yes, Air Gear definitely takes a serious turn, quite early on too, much more than beelzebub imo, though beelzebub was never really too serious to begin with (also one of my faves c:)

@corwin_r: Thank you. Liking the art from the first, and I loved some of the works of Hito Hitori Futari's mangaka. Definitely checking both of them out. I'd probably end up reading everyone's recommendations...

@Magnolia: I'm actually surprised to hear that, haha. It doesn't give off that vibe. Guess that's something to look forward to!

And could I get a few recs for myself too? Something completed and mid-length would be nice, but I'm up for pretty much anything.

I haven't watched it, but I heard it does except for the anime's end. Also, the anime only covered 1/4 of the manga, if I recall correctly.

As this is a 2015 challenge, only manga started on or after January 1st count.

No problem. I've had the same thing happen for some shorter series I haven't put on here right away. And thanks- might check some of those out soon.

Also, quick question about the rules: can we count series we initially started before this year and put on hold as long as we restart them from the beginning?
