well, I have time to watch some movies since i haven't done so recently and i can't quite choose which to watch in these upcoming days.

it could be part of a series or something if you want it to be or have multiple movies to it (like a naruto movie or the kara no kyoukai series).

thank you!

in case you were wondering btw my favorites are mononoke hime and the gintama movie

Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal -says four 30min OVA but it's basically a movie. It's in your PTW list (Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuiokuhen).

2nd fav would be the Disappearance of Haruhi which others have noted and you've seen already.

Its not actually a movie its an OVA series so I didn't include it.
I'd recommend watching the originals first two seasons, then Tsuiokuhen, then picking up the manga where the main series left off.

For movie, Summer Wars

Hahaha! Yeah, Akira is a classic. And if you like the art and animation in Akira, you'll love Jin-Roh. It's probably not as good as Akira, but it's one of the best looking and sounding animes I've ever seen.

That's a bit harsh IMO but I agree that it is the weakest of the three. 1st season introduces everybody and he fights random dudes. Season 2 Kyoto arc is awesome (though it's not without its slow bits). Season 3 back to fighting random dudes.

Regarding Trust & Betrayal. It is/was a four part OVA but was turned into a 2 hour movie as well. From wikipedia page.

"Trust & Betrayal was later collected into a two hour feature-length motion picture with new animated sequences and released theatrically in Japan. In 2003, this feature-length motion picture was eventually released in North America on DVD as a director's cut by ADV Films."

I own that DVD and that's why I described it as a movie (when I pop that in my player I get one continuous movie). When I go to kissanime it is divided into the 4 episodes as described by MAL (I gave up on crunchyroll can't even navigate that mess to find out). However just now I clicked through the end and start of the four OVA episodes on kissanime and other than some ending credits and a brief preview of the next episode it looks pretty seamless. Supposedly the DVD I own has additional scenes but unless I watch the OVA's and keep an eye out for what's missing I can't say what the differences are. Just for my own curiosity I may do that (watch the kissanime OVA's) but I recently re-watched the DVD so not for a couple months probably.

Don't get hung up on terminology -- if you skip the end credits and click next "episode" (and do that three times) you essentially get a movie.

As far as watching the TV first -- I suppose. I watched the TV series first but I don't think it would have been a big deal. And Trust & Betrayal IS a pre-quel afterall. The only thing is the TV series would be a letdown after watching the masterpiece that the movie/OVA/whatever-the-hell-you-want-to-call-it is.
