I agree, he's too much of a good guy to be like that. xD
Doesn't anyone wonder what those things on Hanyuu's head are?

Hanyuu uses the "boku" pronoun. I thought that was only for boys?
.

It's actually used by both males and females, but mostly males. It is however quite common for young children to use 'boku' and Rika uses it too when she acts all happy and childish. If she's talks in her mature voice however, she uses 'watashi' which is a formal way of saying 'I'. Watashi is commonly used by girls and women, but also by men in formal situations.

There aren't really strict rules for using the pronouns though, for example, Ookami Ryouko, the female protagonist from Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi, uses the pronoun 'ore' which is known as the more 'manly' way of saying I, and Satoko uses the pronoun 'watakushi' which is extremely formal and is usually used by older women, rather than children like Satoko.

I hope that cleared things up a bit.

Moe counter --

  • I wanna take her home * 4 (she got tied up :P)
  • Nipah * 1
  • clap clap clap * 1

This episode is moe for the WIN. I have not laughed this much in this series for a while now.

And so the plot further unfolds. Alliances are quickly formed. Meanwhile, Takano is defeating all oppositions.
I can imagine the final battle being epic

Hahaha, I loved this episode! Add more love and lawls to Rena's repeated chances at taking Hanyuu home, Rena's bondage, Hanyuu's adorable human self, and Hanyuu's *****!

LOL that Satoko's uncle is the only one who asks the questions, and Rika's like, "Isn't there anyone else out there?!" XDDD I guess because now he sits on the sidelines with nothing to do...

I really like all this build-up, and internally I keep thinking, "YEAH THIS IS GONNA BE EPIC," but my mind keeps drifting to the end of the series last season and I'm like, "Okay, okay, don't expect anything or you might find yourself slightly disappointed again." So I hope my wishes come true. It's hard to stop watching now.

I honestly lost the game when Tomitake asked Keichii if he had lost the game. Hauuu~

Same here.
Plus I've never found Higurashi humour to be particularly funny.
The end was interesting though.

Well, First things first (Second and third as well,)
OMOCHIKAERI~!!!

*Ahem*
Rika saying she's a distant relative... In more ways than one! Over 8 generations ago to be exact!

Hmmm... Judging from the things that were in Mion's locker in Onikakushi-hen, I'll assume Mion tied Rena up like that...

"Keiichi-kun! You lost the game again?" DAMMIT TOMITAKE!!!

Hmmm... I liked it in the VN, after Takano had left, Hanyuu went to Rika and siad "Rika, It's Takano!" over and over, with Rika not remembering. Taht and the confusion with Rika thinking Tsumihoroboshi-hen was teh last world, and not rememebring a sing thing in Minagoroshi (Well yes, the anime did this, But I would have liked Rika to ask if Hanyuu meant the world where Keiichi stopped Rena from killing everyone in the school... and I'm nitpicking. Next comment!)

Hmmm... That sounds like a very interesting Manga Rika is making! I'd love to read it in Visual Novel or Manga form, or even watch an anime adaption of it at ...some ...point. Oh.... right.

Rofl at the Dark Rika's corner. Almost as good as some of the comments you can make with the "Why can't anyone her horns" meme!

Omochikaeri~!

I didn't really want Rika to reveal what's going on to her friends in this way... I mean, what if they don't trust her later on because of this? That would kinds suck. I think she should be open about things, but I'm also sure that the group probably know she's making at least some of the manga part up because of her seriousness.

I think the cycle will be broken this time around though<3!!!
And I hope it's as engaging as the first arc.

Sadly though, I find myself not able to grasp "Tokyo"'s situation as well as I wished. I've realized that there are many important political leaders involved in the organization, and that if the Great Hinamizawa Disaster occurs Takano will be able to prove to everyone the importance of her research that diminished when Koizumi died. But how that lady with the silver hair (forgot her name) comes into this is somewhat of a mystery to me..

This just HAD to be quoted.

The idea about the manga story is cool, I hope it won't backfire though once the others find out.
What's the point of all this? // There's no point. I'm doing it because I can. That's all there is to it. // What will be left behind after this? // Nothing at all. She'll die and I'll burn out. The end. That's all. (Requiem for the Phantom)

I'm missing Shion too, it was nice to see her as part of the group in the last arc.

And Rena really was awesome with Hanyuu in this episode!

I always thought they were some sort of ribbons in her hair, like so many other anime girls have some accessoires in their hair^^ but well, even the character page says it's horns, so that's that.

Rika uses a fake manga story to get advice from her friends? That clever motherfucker!

Looks like the whole club is gonna be working together to take down Takano!

I wonder if Irie is suspicious of Takano after his talk with Rika.

Can't wait for next episode! The quality is steadily increasing! 4/5

Rena was great in this episode, but rika remains the best girl

Not going to lie, but the first half of this season has been lackluster, due to lack of dramatic murders and Rika's boring narration. The last arc really picked up the pace and actually started to tell story. This episode is the start of the last and final arc. I hope it will be epic.

Not gonna lie I really love her voice. She is the only main CV in this show that is still prominent in anime voice acting in this day of age.

Also does nobody notice the giant horns growing out of Hanyuu's head? Really? You would think that someone would find horns growing out of a little girls head just a tad odd... lol.

I don't know if saying "this is the last time" was really necessary, especially without any real explanation as why it'd be the last time when it's been done so many times now already. It's nitpicky, especially since, early on, I didn't really care how the higurashi universe "works", but it's become more important in season 2.

I was feeling the same way. I think it was a clumsy way to handle it, given that we don't fully understand the world/loop thing yet. After 100 years of this, there needed to be more build-up to *why* they think this is the last one. If it's *only* that they don't remember as much from before, they still need to remember how much they've lost >.<

... Particularly for a high-level government employee/worker/agent/figure. These aren't the cell phones of today, though. Car phones of that era were on the analog cellular phone network, long before what's known as "PCS" phones came on the scene in the mid-90s in the US (not sure precisely on Japan).

Other thoughts on the episode:
- I'm wondering if Akasaka took Rika's advice and headed back to his wife or not in this world
- With Rika less certain, I feel like Hanyuu will be taking the initiative fully. This makes me happy, as seeing the last arc but + Hanyuu would have felt repetitive. Hanyuu's going to be the full protagonist here IMHO.
- The manga explanation is a cute trick, and a good one considering that she knows everyone's on borrowed time and she needs everyone's brains working together. I concur that it could backfire, but for some reason I don't know that "trust" will be as important in this loop as faith in working together.
- Yeah. Where's Shion?

A lot of interesting developments this episode...

For instance,
- There are two factions trying to assert dominance in the Tokyo organization:

> Faction A is Takano and her supporter Nomura who want to kill the Queen Carrier and annihilate the village.
> Faction B is Koizumi’s group.
> Additionally, knowing that the Hinamizawa project has two goals as outlined in Ep 17: the first being conducting research on the syndrome with the goal of finding a treatment; and the second being finding a military use, it wouldn’t be far fetched to assume Takano and Nomura side with the military, and Koizumi’s group side with the treatment goal.

- Hanyuu is the one resurrecting Rika each time, but her powers are lessening since she resolved to fight alongside Rika instead of being a bystander.
- Hanyuu was a god worshipped in Hinamizawa long ago, who died to atone for the land’s sins.

Looks like all the pieces are in place... Akasaka and Oiishi are both on board, and Irie is also skeptical of Takano’s motives. This is getting exciting!
