Damn, I was so sure that the sniper would miss or Batou would warn the Major in time...I wonder how the Major is going to come back (because of course she has to).

Also, I thought the tachikomas were annoying, but I was genuinely saddened to see them blown apart like that!

Tachikoma ;___;
That probably wasn't the real major. Notice how the camera looks at her left arm, no watch :3

Yeah, Tachikomas' are gone. I'll miss 'em.
It wasn't hard to guess that it wasn't Major. The watch...

Exactly, i figured it out because of the watch, anyway, i guess Batou isn't the third on command for free, I totally freaked out when that armored suit blowed up him on Kusanagi's place, then realized that he just stole that guy's eyes. That was just fucking amazing.

Poor tachikomas ):

Wow ... Tachikoma's are now gone and it seems the major is as well, but I wasn't sure if Batou and the major were really like that. It's going to be interesting seeing how they finish the first season off.

Yeah, I saw the watch and thought the same. Then again Batou's reaction kinda make me thing otherwise.

This episode had me in awe. The whole Tachikoma thing was "emotional" and along with that the Batou and Major scene was interesting. I like how Batou broke from calling her Major..they've grown a bond between eachother

The eye hacking scene cemented Batou's place as a badass and my 2nd fav character

Amazing episode. I'm glad the Tachikoma's got there in time to help even though they didn't do as much as I thought they would. I actually felt like tearing up when they sacrificed themselves to save Batou.
Now I just have to wait to see what will unfold next with Batou and the major.

Wonder what the "fake" major mouthed though?
Another point is that Batou called her "Motoko", not "Major". That may point to something...

That was so sad seeing the Tachikomas die for Batou. Some good points have been brought up, about the watch, and the fact that Batou called the Major "Motoko".

I wonder if that has anything to do with it, it is really hard to predict what actually happened or what will happen next in this series.

"They were lucky enough to experience death." That's one sentence I can never see myself saying. Gotta love the Tachikomas.

Ishikawa planting that bomb on the arcade is just genius.

paybacks a bitch huh???

damn did you see Batou hacking that guys eyes and tricking him to believing he had died??? head shot point blank fucking badass :P

also Tachikoma's :(

thank god they made it in time for helping batou escape. that fucking idiot 2nd mech guy is stupid. i mean isn't arresting Section 9 enough? the fact that they tried to kill him of course they'll fight back. you've got what you deserved dumbass.

also the young girl was actually Mokoto O___O so she's the young girl that had followed the tachikoma who went on the city with Miki. and man seeing Major's underwear in his room and on camera was just delicious :)

and yes i think it's fake as the watch wasn't there. also i think Major is smart enough to think 3 steps ahead.

all in all what a emotional roller coaster. i wonder what the last episode will be??? :D

This has got to be the saddest and most depressing episode in GitS. In any case, it was impressing on every level. Even if that wasnt the real Major, that last scene was wow...

i take back what i said last episode; THIS episode was depressing...

in all honesty, i actually cried a bit watching the Tachikoma's sacrifice themselves and where Motoko mentions their possible existence of a ghost. this would be my first ever tear-inducing moment towards a machine.

Aye, that was one of few times I was moved that much in anime. Tachikomas seemed like they were going to be annoying, but they weren't. I actually liked them and those shorties, gave some balance to the show I think. And after they were gone... Oh gosh. No... Not NOW! Now that they may have just... Awww... :<
Brilliant though. Now they're legendary, if they lived trough they'd just be talking think-tanks that ask too many questions, and probably wouldn't be thought of that highly. Death served them well. So to speak.

Honestly, I have NEVER cried over the destruction of a robot. But damn that made me tear up. ;A;
TACHIKOMA, YOU ALL WERE SO BRAVE!!
I'm sorry for thinking you all were annoying!

And when I thought the major got shot, my response was, "WHAT HOW NOT POSSIBLE. O.O"
Then it's obviously not her. Probably a dummy or something.

Holy crap. Everyone's getting caught. D:

Well, that was one hell of an unique experience. I definitely enjoyed this series and going to check out the next season. I wouldn't call this finale a masterpiece or anything but I loved the themes of Ghost in the Shell as well as the characters, in particular Motoko Kusanagi and her personality.

8/10 :>

One of the most powerful lines in anime to me.

And who thought that emotional climax of the series will be around these little robots? It feels weird to call them 'robots' now by the way... On the side note — it's nice that in the end their personality is backed by unique look of every robot.

Great witch hunt continues, maybe Batou and Ishikawa are the ones who did not fare well, see how many blows remedied, well! Except the Major who loses his head! They really have not had the nerve to check all these details, but I think it will have done some transfer or used the same trick of the forest! The strange thing is the blood, it should not be colored differently? Mah!
Tachikoma poor, they were great! * _ *

Look closely at Motoko's wrist. She ISN'T wearing her watch. What does this hint at...? ;)

Great observation. There's no way possible she can be dead. Considering GITS logic.

Noooooo! Not the Tachikoma!!!
That was such a sad sacrifice...

Batou solo rampage was epic. When he hacked the guy eyes, it was brutal.

Lucky Batou : seeing the Major in underwear.
Bad luck Batou : seeing her head blown off a few hours later.

But more seriously, it's impossible for her to be dead. She's the top of the top in term of tactical strategy, she couldn't have died in such a stupid way. She probably transfered her ghost somewhere else. The only thing they have to do now is to give the chip to the media.

Dead and wounded on both sides, the Tachikoma are really the characters that have been in my great admiration.
To stop or break up a group there is the need to cut the head from the head of the body, in this case to put an end to the life of Major, but I think it's just a sham.
