| I generally hate everything anime fans say and do (hence my reasoning for never joining an anime club). However, the one thing that some say that pisses me off the most is "you have shit taste." I know I've been on the receiving end of this statement for liking a lot of romance anime and scoring some classic anime like Code Geass R2, Death Note, and NGE with 6s or lower. Personally, I actually find that statement offensive (yes, I understand that is the whole point of why that person says that...sometimes). We all have different reasonings for watching the type of anime we watch and liking the type of anime we like. To tell someone "they have shit taste" is the equivalent of saying "you're a shitty human being for liking that." It's an awful and unnecessary thing to say and to top it off, about 99% of the time it's said by someone who praises anime that would have many head scratching at why the anime they like is in "good taste." I don't know how many times someone has told me "you have shit taste" only for me to go look at their list, pick out a certain anime that is generally hated but liked by that person, and use the "take a good, hard look in the mirror" approach when replying to them. |
