In all honestly the writing is so bad it makes me certain that this is either a horrendous adaption or the source material is just that bad.
Are you talking about this anime Galileo Donna? If yes, then it is no adaptation and there is no source material because it is an original anime.

And I think the writing is bad for this show...

AidanAK47 said:
Kyoukai no Kanata isn't bad. If it was bad then at least it would be notable. It's forgettable and unambitious. Which in some ways is worse than it being bad.
I think I'd agree that it is unambitious, though I don't see in what ways it is worse than being bad. Perhaps you mean that if it is bad at least it will not be as unforgettable? Not sure if it is necessarily a good thing though, unless it is so bad that it becomes a cult hit.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Within 3 minutes of Theo being on screen, it was pretty clear that he was most likely going to die. Actually, a lot of the lines and action are (the most) standard plot elements for writing tragedy.

That leaves me to believe that the only purpose of the episode was to show how evil the Adni company is, which was accomplished. That and the message that not even the most seemingly trustworthy person can be trusted (in crime, or when his back is against the wall, at least).

The first half of the episode was rather boring, and suddenly the second half...out of nowhere Ludger sells everyone out. Rather sad and tragic.

This show has potential but the writing and pacing bring it down. I hope it improves.

I was talking about Copelion. And I know Galileo Donna is an anime original with no source materiel. Also I never said the writing in Galileo Donna was good. I am just saying it's not horrible.

Basically what's worse? A bad anime that at least gives you the joy of ripping it apart or anime that's neither bad or good and you forget what it was even about two months later. Kyoukai no Kanna is the kind of anime that doesn't really have a reason to exist.(Besides make a quick buck)

Why!!!!!!!!!

Wow.. did not expect that ending. TBH though I expect those kids to survive. If not, I'll be very surprised. I'd honestly prefer it if they did though since the way those kids embraced and whispered to each other at the end was just cruel T_T

I suggest you read "Bloodlands", the history of the land between Russia and Germany, and the famines both the Soviets and Nazi's imposed on the people in between. You will never be surprised again what desperation (and starvation) can do to people. Think this is bad, how about having your parents (or children) kill you so that they can eat you, AND THAT IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR.

Ludger finally had something worth trading (the sisters) and he took the payment in order to survive. As he said earlier in the episode, what they were experiencing (starvation, not specifically, but think: advancing cold, no fuel for agriculture) took a toil on people spiritually and psychologically. That was all you needed to hear to understand someone was going to sell them out because that is what would happen in the real world.

Treat them as dead. If they are brought back next episode it will only be because the producers were too conservative to support the writing. Even if they survive they will no longer be in the plot, that is clear. Theo loves Karen, Houzaki is happy with that, so if in the next episode Houzaki saves them, it really isn't a plot development move, but a commercial move (not that I blame anyone for that, both writers and producers have to deal with reality).

Beautiful episode, yet it was fucking sad. Didn't see that coming, i thought Hozuki would be able to save them.. ;___;

I grew fond of Theo and Karen, story of childhood friends in love is always my weakness, so it was devastating to see them had to die that way. Moreover, she already had problem walking with a cane, and that piece of glass screwed her even more. Theo decided to stay with her, and i was guessing in that final moment where their voice is muted, he said something like "Happy birthday"? that would make it more depressing .__. though at least they were smiling and together till the end.

I hope Hozuki can learn something and become stronger after seeing all those events.

Man, i love Galilei Donna <3

This is a strange show. Sometimes, it's horribly silly and seems like the writers ignored common sense when they wrote the scripts. Other times, it's really damn good - like that ending there. It was unexpectedly bittersweet. HMMMMMMMMM.

Oh my God, this episode and the feels...! I cried. I knew something really bad was on the way, I had a HUGE hunch because of the telescope and the whole atmosphere, it was kind of ominous. (you know, Theo was saying he would give it to Karen and I could see some uncertainty in that, dunno...) I was prepared and I was like "Oh, hell no, they're definitely not going to do that, no..." and then... boom. There they go, killing those children.

Whyyyyyyy...? ( ;C;)

I somehow doubt it, because when they were embracing, the bomb seemed to approach them really fast and it seemed really close, so I can't imagine they could make it through that alive... but let's hope they are! It'd be relieving!

I feel this series should've been given more than 11 episodes. I was really looking forward to it. Then after episode 1, it felt really rushed and I couldn't help but feel I missed an episode each time the next one came out. Then this episode aired. I honestly felt pretty sad for Theo and Karen. And the other elements that were driving the plot so far, e.g. energy and economical issues, and political corruption due to aforementioned issues, started to surface and hit home (mostly due to that emotional impact of the kids dying). Yes, I live in NYC and even though I'm far from rich, I'm much better off than many others. I'm not trying to sound arrogant or act like I know it all, I just pay attention to the rest of the world.

And w/o digressing too much, I'm back to my main point. If the rest of the episodes are more like this one, then it can turn out to be a really good series. I don't mean they have to kill off little kids each time, just try a little harder to get one of the main themes through. Also, if they pull it off right and end this with a cliffhanger, planning to have a second season that won't take over a year to make, then that could also be a redeeming quality. That's a big "if."

Anyway, I just hope I can look forward to more serious, less rushed episodes like this one.

Yeah, I had a feeling too. I don't really know what it was, but just when Theo smiled at Hozuki, it just gave me a vibe like he would probably die. Honestly I didn't find it as moving as it could've been, though... I mean I shed a tear, if only for the fact that I'm so weak to honorable deaths like that, but I dunno why it didn't have all that much feels for me.

+1 I felt nothing too, wonder why people said that it was sad -.-

I wonder if they could just focus on Galileo's inheritance instead of making a little side story (while still conveniently connected to the location of the inheritance). Random Theo is random, random Karen is random. The whole point is to tell us how bad that company is. Those melodrama, rushed and everything..

The only part where I liked was when Theo said something to Karen and they both smiled in their last moment, that was kinda sweet and a little sad.

Considering to drop this show now, but maybe.. just maybe.. I should give this another episode.

Edit: This is just like Coppelion, well almost. First episode was the best, then it's getting worse by every episode, and it feels like it's not advancing at all.

Really wasn't expecting that kind of ending, Theo and Karen's story was a dishearteningly tragic. That aside though, the main story itself seems a bit underwhelming still. I wonder what that red light that surrounded Hozuki was all about.
