Hullo! I see you have quite a good taste in anime, as well. Thank you.

Now going to your question: Fune wo Amu is quite a breath of fresh air from all that is mainstream. Writing a dictionary may sound unappealing, but the way the MC has been crafted into a person with depth and keen passion for what he does has brought an idiosyncratic charm to the series and an intricacy that one would never have expected in making a dictionary. This series is tender, and soothing, and awe-inspiring. And I think everyone should see something like it every once in a while.

Basing on your anime preferences (which, as I see, isn't really all that different from mine), I gotta say that Fune wo Amu stands perfectly in contrast from what we usually see today. It is simply one of a kind. Some may find it boring. I understand that not everyone is into to this type of low-key narrative. There's nothing really grand about it, plot-wise, but if you appreciate the profundity of characters and the modest ingenuity a story could offer, then you must give it a try. At the very least, I think you should go see the first episode. It's an instant deciding factor. Right then and there, it will show its true form, you will get what I'm saying, and it will help you decide whether you will like it or not.

Aaaaand that's all. I'm sorry if I couldn't elaborate it any further, but I hope I helped you in some way. If you ever decide to go through the series, I'd be glad to hear what you think of it. 😊

Happy Birthday! Hope you return soon. The soon you catch up to what's new, the better.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Hunter x Hunter. Madhouse has done very well in picking the good stories to adapt. The real problem is that the good stories are never finished when they jump on it. They should probably consider wait at times, but then that would put a restriction on how good their choices are. However, it could be intentional so that they don't have to work on one story for too long. That way, they give other stories a chance. Well, I'm the type of guy who gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, so don't listen to me.

As for anime, I'll start with continuations: Haikyuu!!, Stray Dogs, Ajin, JoJo, Strike the Blood, KonoSuba, Blue Exorcist, Yowamushi Pedal, Kuroko no Basket, and more. Mind you, I haven't watched all of these myself, so you can choose which ones to continue from if you've seen them. As for what's new this season that caught my attention: Masamune-kun's Revenge, Scum's Wish, Youjo Senki, Demi-chan wa Kataritai, Seiren, and Maid Dragon. It seems you have yet to watch Overlord, which I highly recommend to all my friends. Youjo Senki has many similarities even though it's being produced by a different studio, so I have high hopes for it.

Seems you've also missed out on Mob Psycho 100, Food Wars!, Alderamin on the Sky, New Game!, ReLIFE, 91 Days, Working!!, and the list goes on; so just look at my list when you find the time. I'm unable to take others preference into account, so I've been trying to make my anime list more viewer friendly as of late. It should be easier to pinpoint the genres I enjoy most and I've left some with insightful comments. Be sure to check it out. Now that I thing about it, you've done the same to an extent. I've just been taking it to the next level. Glad I'm not completely alone in this regard. There are a lot of feature on MAL that no one takes advantage of. Well, it depends on how much time you have on your hands.

Anyhow, we can discuss anything that's currently airing if you find the time to watch it. As for older anime, I may have a hard time remembering, but I don't mind being reminded if it was something I enjoyed watching.

Seems you've hit your 400th completed anime and neglected to update your profile. I'm not quite sure since it sometimes takes a while for the site to update user's edits. If November really was the last time you were online, then I can't help you figure out what the 400th anime you completed was considering your anime history has long since erased it. Also, not sure I should go through with emailing you something this trivial. If you've been busy, I won't get in your way. You can always look at my list if your falling behind this season.

You have a lot of friends, so I could imagine you only keep up with the ones that talk to you more. I thought I'd take this opportunity to recommend Overlord as one of this seasons best anime. I noticed it wasn't on your list, but I'm about the same when it comes to things on your list that aren't on mine. So, I'll also ask how Kekkai Sensen, Gakkou Gurashi!, and God Eater are so far. I mostly watch what my closest friends are watching, but I'll also try to get them to watch what I'm watching if I recognize its greatness. Tell me if any of the 3 I mentioned are any good and I'll consider watching them as well or recommend anything you believe I might fancy.

Sup man, do you think I should finish Evangelion?

It doesn't seem like it's going anywhere entertaining imo

Ah no that wasn't me. I haven't played Black Ops in a long while.

Hi Rob, nice to meet you too :P

I also like to read books from different genres, but lately I've enjoyed dystopian stories the most. You asked for a recommendation... the first title that comes to mind is '1984', by Orwell. That's probably the mother of all dystopian stories. The plot is amazing and also there are theoretical explanations about why the country mentioned in the story is the way it is and how it works and stays like that. I don't know... I thought it was mindblowing. After The Hunger Games, a lot of 'amateur' writers started to set their stories in a dystopian, gloomy environment, but they don't explain how things like War, Science, Politics,... work in a society like that. That's why I prefer classic dystopian books. I would also recommend Farenheit 451, Brave New World and Lord of the Flies.

Are you studying Physics or are you just interested in the subject?

I know some French, but very little. I studied French in school for five years, but now I've forgot a lot. When did you start learning Japanese? I started learning Korean on my own because there are no teachers of Korean here, but it turned out to be kind of difficult. It requires a lot of determination and patience to learn on your own! Is learning on you own common where you live? Here, it isn't.

Yes, I'm new here. Sure, suggestions and recommendations are always welcome! I enjoy good plots and character development :)
