This was better than I thought it would be. It's going to be tough to wait for October for the 2nd season.

I have a confession to make...when people were mentioning L-Elf's "kid" or his "future self", my heart was palpitating and I was ready to fall over thinking that it was Shouko and L-Elf's kid. I. NEARLY. DIED. No joke.

I need to learn how to read better. I also need to make sure I don't read the replies on the discussion thread before watching..

Saki x L-Elf? Ohh... I will like if it happens!

That kid has Haruto's eyes.

I think its either Eru erufu x Saki/Haruto's kid or Eru erufu and Haruto's kid

I think so too, I can totally see this happening. Cough cough.

why anyone always think that child is L-Elf ???, and he is a son of ?? x saki ( or shoko ) ???
when the first scene of ep 12 is year 211 of the TGE that mean all human char from begin must death from human life circle. And from my opinion, when " sign as human " = vampire mean can't be give birth ( maybe ^^ ).
From all of that maybe that child is grandson of L-elf x Liselotte (the princess of Dorssia), because the enemy in ss2 is definitely maguis, and that princess is not magius, and if you want fight with whose " who control the world from the shadows " you must need power army and old empire is answers.

Huh what a frustration when completing this series. But it's probably 1 of the most enjoyable show for spring season. It's disappoint me actually when i watch episode 5 LOL!.At that time I think It will be more pleased if the 3 other pilot dead cause they not compatible with valvrave and if only just a fCking few people in the universe can pilot the valvrave not all the faggot and bitch from that school. That the only thing i feel disappointed,oh and also maybe if the protagonist have an interesting personality then this will be 1 of my favourite anime.

The child is of a generation of many years and is offspring Haruto children and L-Elf

I do not think Liselotte and L-Elf are married, it is more possible that has had children with Shoko, Liselotte is a secondary character, its development has been limited

Akira becoming a pilot is something i thought of before but since she was always keeping herself excluded to the extend that most people didn't even know about her existence i figured the possibility low.
Tho to be entirely honest i figured either she or Shoko would become the next pilot.
Some people will probably be wondering why not L-Eleven, answer is very simple he doesn't seem interested in becoming a pilot of a Valvrave at all.
I mentioned this before he is a stereotype character which makes him very easy to read and predict his actions, i do have to that now that he saw his former leader pilot a Valvrave he will become more interested in piloting one as well.

About the Dorsia Empire/state and mainly there medal system L-Eleven mentioned two medals of honour which again suggests it's based of the Soviet Union.
The highest award within the Soviet Union was Hero of the Soviet Union it consisted of a medal and a title it could also be given several times to the same person.
The way Dorsia is shown it looks like a combination of the German system and the Soviet system during WW2 personally i think it's mostly to the Soviet system.
This anime used many references to WW2 ARUS looks a lot like the American and English systems during the same time period.

Now about pregnancy it seems to be a popular topic after what happened two episodes ago.
The chances of getting pregnant are pretty small a girl is only fertile a few days each month.
What i am trying to say is a girl can get pregnant from rape but chances are very small, the chances of a girl getting pregnant from normal sex are just as small.

The first half ends.

And so the last piece of pilot puzzle falls into place. For a moment there I thought this would end with Valvrave VI still unclaimed. Akira becomes the pilot of the last known Valvrave, as denoted by the OP visuals and as expected by many others.. What seems peculiar is that she doesn't seem to have been injected at all... no visible scars or traces of blood on her neck.

Saki rejected Haruto's offer to man up for his "crime". Well, nothing more he can do about it if she herself rejected the offer. The little boy she was talking to in the future may or may not be her son, but he has Haruto's eye color and L-Elf's hair color. Nope, not insinuating anything by that.

Woo. Conspiracy. It ends with a conspiratorial shadow organization taking control... with both ARUS and Dorssia being nothing more than their mere puppets. Valvrave II was an incomplete unit... but that didn't matter to the one inhuman villain who nobody could scratch this time - Cain.

I had many gripes and facepalming moments over the course of this show, but here I am still watching (and waiting for S2) because for some reason it's still entertaining despite the many bad parts. I guess that's "Irritainment" for you. Or maybe this is what they call "so bad, it's good".

P.S. VVV onii-chan seems pretty pissed off about his looks...

So, Kakumeiki Valvrave. This show is a bit of a conundrum to me. I started out not liking it, to enjoying it for kicks, and then about half way through I found myself genuinely loving the show. It really grew on me. I felt it really came into it's own later on.

I never thought I'd be saying this about Valvrave, but I gotta give it an 8/10. Entertaining as hell with an interesting charm coming from it's oddities.

Anyways, onto the episode itself. A very fitting finale and excellent way to wet people's appetite's for the conclusion in October. I wasn't all that shocked by the sudden developments but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I definitely like where this is going.

Another Future Saki sequence. She's looking beautiful as ever. I'm very intrigued by who the little boy is, although I don't feel that he's Saki's son. The two felt more like their relationship was that of a teacher and a student. He's definitely not L-Elf and Haruto's kid for obvious reasons.

I figured Saki would reject Haruto's proposal. Especially after the responsibility line. IDIOT. She doesn't want to marry him out of something like that, but mutual love between the two of them. I don't think it's the end of Haruto/Saki, but quite the opposite. One thing I love about Saki is how strong she is. She's definitely not going down without a fight even if she does like Shouko. She won't let Haruto slip away if she can help it.

Speaking of Shouko, she's grown on me a bit. I've been impressed by how she's worked through all the crap she's been getting lately. I especially love how she handled Akira. I still can't comprehend how she's managed to avoid all these death flags though.

Akira was plain awesome in this episode. Knew she'd get the purple Valvrave. Seeing her desert her little room for the sake of a friend and saving the day. reminded me why I love her so much, why she's my second favorite of the show. I can't wait to see how she interacts with the rest of the pilots.

Also Cain. Well that was just weird. He kinda creeps me out. Honestly Cain, I didn't want to tell you this, but your bride is actually a dude.

Next season is looking fantastic. Not sure I can wait until October. I wanna know what happens already. Well maybe Saki's manga will tide us over for awhile.

Hmmm, I feel disappointed about the preview of the second season. I didn't see Shoko.. I just hope that she will be the NEXT PILOT. I really want to see her badly with a valvrave. I remember in the past episode, they were called GOLDEN 7... ://
But they're only 5 now, that means there's other 2... I hope there is. @_@

Anyone know when next one, ep 13 will come?

To be honest, I'm thinking there isn't actually an episode 13. I heard it was airing on July 4th and that never happened.

But on the off chance there is, it's probably just a recap.

That's not his child. That's probably his great great great grandchild

Also that kind of development would probably be awkward. Unless they do it at the very end of the show.

Still.. L-Elf has a lot of fans. I think they would want him to have his own happy ending and not doomed to a life of being someone else's vessel

Personally I think L-Elf has enough drama already with A-Drei, Liselotte, Haruto and now potentially Shoko

Throwing Saki in this would probably be too much

damn, this community went so downhill over last few years. All i can see is bunch of self-proclaimed anime experts bashing 99% shows that come out, honestly why you still watch anime is beyond me.

This series, was an enjoyable watch for sure. I don't watch anime that often these days(mostly manga), but it had a little bit of refreshing feeling to the mecha genre, considering it's a very hard one, since there are many epic series around. I also don't see how it was a train-wreck as some said, considering it was getting better with every episode until the end.

Why are people immediately assuming that the kid is Saki's child? It didn't seem that way to me. The way the kid talked to her, it was more like he was talking to his Aunt or a friend of his parents.

Again with assumptions, just because they showed a photo of Saki with Cain it instantly meant she defected to him? It appeared to be more of a confrontation to me. She was holding a gun. She might have been captured or something. They did show another image of her Valvrave in ruins and I believe she was the one who screamed, "Haruto! Save me!"

Anyway, it was a good series. Not one of the best, but one of the better ones at least. That may change, however, depending on how S2 goes. Personally, I can''t wait. Now what to dooo...

The anime fanbase has been full of shit for years at this point and tends to have really misplaced priorities and values IMO. Too many posers, shippers, and people trying to look smart and hip by all just agreeing on and saying the same shit about studios, staff and shows. What they fail to realize is that taste isn't actually equivalent to intelligence and/or understanding, that tends to come from within and not from any sort of external stimulus/reaction process.

The big thing nowadays that I've noticed is this very vague idea of subtlety. Apparently you have to be as subtle (actually read uneventful, punny dialogue ridden, and plodding in pace) as possible nowadays in order to be accepted as a show with good or worthwhile writing and anything that is actually willing to be exciting or a thriller and play a little fast and loose with it's premise by having a lot going on and featuring some melodrama is just too over the top and thus automatically "shonen shit" and a "trainwreck".

I think a great example this whole "subtlety" thing at work is Another which people were raving about when it was a slow moving mood piece for it's first 10 episodes but then when the final two episodes hit with the bloody and IMO kind of expected climax people suddenly turned on it and now it's widely considered a "failure" for what amounts to the really stupid reason of essentially just following through on it's premise as a suspense thriller.

I'm not sure when we got to the point where shows like Valvrave are automatically considered a disastrous "trainwreck" based on the very first episode but wow is it ever dumb and forced as hell. To me it's a community problem as well as one of perception by the current fan base and not specifically one with the show itself otherwise you'd see a lot more consistency with shows that have a similar sense of tone and pacing. Personally I think people tried to lump it in with all the butthurt that resulted from Guilty Crown and Sword Art Online instead of just STFU and watching the show then reacting to it. Considering it's very far from done I think trying to judge the scope and execution of it's story to any serious degree is kind of pointless exercise since there's still lots to be revealed about it's mythos as well as the future of it's cast but then again I'm not one for forcing memes onto it here.

Anyway to me there's no better revelation of the sheer level of the current anime communities bullshit than this show at the moment. We'll just have to see what kinds of labels will be forced back onto it come fall.

If I had to sum it up in one pseudo-word, this show was "lawl". Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching it. It was a good ride; I had lots of laughs and some shocking/fist-clenching moments. Character-wise, it was an interesting mix. You had so many to choose from, you were bound to find one that you liked. Plot-wise, you'd have to take a step back and just accept some things for happening as they do. If you take a magnifying glass to it, you'll never find peace. Overall, pretty engaging plot. They used a couple of flash forwards, which I found smart because it draws you in, but also really annoying because they generate so many questions that won't be gratified immediately. Some of the cheesy lines and events just made me bust out in chuckles. All in all, not a bad show. If you're wanting entertainment, this will do just fine. To be honest, I'm looking forward to the second season. I want more Saki and I'm super curious to see how this all ties together and ends.

~hopefully its L-elfxAkira because there both really cold characters while they both come in clutch during times of need
~and HarutoxSaki just because they both are characters that have the most character development so far in the series from the perspective if you had to choose a male and female characte that grew the most in season 1
~also ShoukoxA-drei because they bopth seem like they could lead all 3 factions into peace and both are very loyal and honorable

I agree with some of what you're saying here, but I really do think that Valvrave failed on a couple levels. I appreciate some parts of it a lot. It definitely plays out well in some areas, and overall it definitely breaks the mold in a lot of ways. But I think my inability to pin this show down really is due, at least in part, to their inability to communicate just what the fuck they're intentions are.

I compare it with FLCL in some ways. In that show we definitely have some wacky shit, it plays it pretty loose, and it's hard to pin it down; but after realizing that it's basically about a kid dealing with growing up, the themes kind of make sense. The nonsensical changes in tone, pretentious moralizing, melodrama, and even the over-the-top phallic references all make sense in that context of a kid who doesn't want to grow up but has to.

In this show, I can't seem to find any coherent theme though. I mean, on the surface it seems to be about growing up from a slightly older perspective (mid-teen rather than twelve). But then it just goes out there with some stuff like it actually is just all "mindless" fun. And then it changes tone again and seems to be trying to portray this epic, grand struggle storyline. It's like every new episode they just can't decide where they want to go so they take a bit of everything and throw it in to see what sticks. It's like a chinese buffet of themes and symbolism. Maybe I'm looking at it too seriously, and there are definitely parts where it pretty much admits that it's not playing it completely straight... but then other parts seem to want to drive home a point. My problem is that I can't get what point that is. Is it about growing older? Is it sacrifice? Is it moral ambiguity vs. idealism? Is it just a tongue and cheek epic?

I'm not sure when we got to the point where shows like Valvrave are automatically considered a disastrous "trainwreck" based on the very first episode but wow is it ever dumb and forced as hell.

I'll admit that I'm guilty of that a bit, though I made it to the third episode before I labeled it a trainwreck. Looking back, that was a bit premature, but you have to admit that it did seem way out there in the first few episodes. For those episodes they seemed to be playing it pretty straight with some really over-the-top stuff so it definitely came off as a failed attempt at creating a serious story. Then it shifted gears and started poking fun at itself, and it started to make a little sense... but then it shifted gears again and started playing it straight. I'm still not sure where it lies or what it's trying to do. I'll give them this, failure or not, they definitely have some balls and creativity. I have never seen something quite like this, and I'm not sure if that's bad for the show or good.

Anyway to me there's no better revelation of the sheer level of the current anime communities bullshit than this show at the moment. We'll just have to see what kinds of labels will be forced back onto it come fall.
I've decided that I'll give the second season it's fair shot, but I definitely expect some answers when it comes back around. This season I'm gonna err on the side of saying that it is just a jumbled mess just because I don't have any other way of describing it. I might have to eat my words and change my initial evaluation when it all comes together, but as for now I just can't fathom how they are going to end up consolidating everything.

I'll agree that too many people judged this book by it's cover, and that they jumped to conclusions without looking deeper. Hell, I was one of them. But I definitely think some criticisms could end up being valid, unless something totally unforeseen happens that changes the playing field, this anime just seems like a kind of like a bunch of good flavors mixed together and thrown into one cup without any thought of how those good flavors will taste when mixed.
Let's go bowling.

The OS talks well that was amusing... but well the whole end actually disappointed me... there is a second season and I wonder if that will complete this story as this season really ended in a cliffhanger which for the actual anime isn't that proper as it isn't that interesting to start with.

The beginning of the anime was actually entertaining but further on development it became very lame and too casual with just bad drama put into it...

I'm not sure if I'll watch the second season but well on one part I do like to know what happens next! Either way this anime was just not for me 4/10

The anime was intended to spread out in 2 cours from the beginning. There is no first or second season, just one season that is divided and aired separately.

6/10 for me

I lacked motivation watching half way through but seeing the ending was quite interesting, looking forward for season two.

They actually show scenes of her 200+ years from now in the anime. Unless the second season going to have the anime mostly take place mostly in the far future I don't see her being dead at all. All the other characters are fair game.

Am I the only one who thinks the little kid looks like L-elf?

This was a great show, I loved it all the way through to the end! Now to wait until the second season starts! I don't know why I waited this long to jump on board, but I'm certainly glad I did!

Plus, they used Boku Janai again, and that makes me very happy, very happy indeed!

I don't know what i just watched, and i don't know why i enjoyed it.Only thing im sure of is that i damn HATE, like really hate Saki and Haruto.
L-elf and Shouko best characters.Hopefully they will get more screen-time and happiness in next season.
