I wonder what their real intention was. Kinda freaky how A.I systems can just go off and do their own thing, especially if the A.I was in a military vehicle.

Yes, since she is a top grade military cyborg I guess she can do that.

Other forums allude the scene to the Matrix. Remember the helicopter scene where Neo rescued Morpheus from the agents? It was said that it was Kamiyama's homage to the Matrix. The Matrix in turn have acknowledged that they were greatly influenced by Mamouru Oshii's 1995 movie.

Now that you mentioned it, I knew it was familiar. Still, Neo had no (or close to no) effect on the movement of the helicopter as it was already going down, he only hold against trinity's weight. Thus Major >>> Neo.

Thank you for your detailed insights in all these topics! One can tell that you truly love the series!

I do love the series and am just praying and hoping that a third season would come out soon! I really make it a point to scan/check these forums to see if any new post are made and I love discussing and sharing information about this series.

Also, to be honest with you I just appreciated the series just now (mid year 2008). I got some DVDs and simply got hooked. LOL

damn, badass ep. i dont know how many times i've repeated the scene where major pinned down that helicopter... btw, back in the pilot's room two guys switched his medicine, i wonder what's the purpose of that. The accident was obviously staged.

Decent episode. The major pulling the helicopter toward her was awesome.

It seems there is a bigger picture to all of this A.I. mess up.

Nice going by the major xD holding back a helicopter, almost appears as if the government itself is trying to instigate an uprising in the ranks of the refugees in order to justify some action they want to undertake =O

I remember hearing Gouda's evil kazoo theme for the first time and thinking "OH GOD BEES," which, to me at least, is hilarious in hindsight, as it's being played just before Section 9 goes up against what's essentially a helicopter bee with a vulcan stinger.

Also, the spider-tank Tachikomas shooting webbing and swinging around buildings Spider-Man-style was both awesome and hilarious.

And finally, the Jigabachi fight has become one of my most favorite fights in the series simply because of the song playing in the background. Seriously, that's gotta be one of Yoko Kanno's best tracks.

With all of the cybernetics people can get, I imagine it's possible to have redundant hearts, or at least the ability to survive without a heartbeat for a time.

Or it can be just an error of the sensing element.

Very interesting, there seems to be more going on, but I guess we'll find out what that is in the future episodes.

I liked that scene with the Major pulling the helicopter, and the one guy looks a bit freaky :o

lol as soon as i saw that scene the Matrix scene came up in my head instantly.

truly amazing work, but Ghost in the Shell SAC does it better :P

i also hope they make another Animatrix, but this time directed by the studio that made the Stand Alone Complex series along Kamiyama-san.

it doesn't have to star Neo or Trinity. they can make new characters that appear in the universe or a alternate reality of some sort.

i just want more cyber-punk action O___O

the agent from the cabinet members is scary as hell, you can't help but think he's a spy of some sort.

overall amazing stuff, and i only noticed they replace the "Complex" episodes to "Dual" episodes. "Individual" remains the same and there is a new "Dividual" mark :P

really REALLY LOVE this series and i can't believe i missed them out when it was released years ago.

then again watching the BD's and man the animation is gorgeous O______O

can't wait to see more :D

Cyberbird is truly an amazing track. I wasn't expecting that track to be played so early in the series but I'm glad it did. It's probably my favorite track of the OST.

Well the episode was a story develop episode full of information about a new origination called the individual eleven... seems they'll be the main problem in this season.

Not really that interesting to watch though these episodes are needed in these kind of story line anime's!

The character design changes drastically from one episode to the next depending on the staff.

The first season was plagued by these inconsistencies as well.

See below:

The episode from your season 2 picture has the same art style used in the final episode of season 1. The first episode of season 2 looks like episode 23 of season 1, etc, etc.

It's not a season thing, it's an episode thing. I don't know why but a lot of people only seem to notice during the second season.

Ah, that clears things up. The last two episodes featured this design. It only occurred to me when I saw a close-up of her face. I'm not sure about the other characters, but the Major's appearance stood out the most. It irks me a bit. Although, I'm enjoying this series too much that I shouldn't complain.

And, it looks like the main story is starting up. Interesting how those guys switched in those pills, as though they were covering up whatever the truth of the matter was. My thinking is that it really was a terrorist plot like Gouda suggested, or he was behind it to rouse up animosity with the refugees, like Aramaki suggested. Maybe it was the Individual Eleven?

Something's fishy...I smell a conspiracy by the intelligence agency. IMO, they might be wanting to overturn the current political scene, where the woman is in charged. After all, many politicians disagree and dislike her conservative stance, with many being either war veterans or generals after all. This is not a matter of petty crime nor corporate terrorism anymore, unlike 1st GIG, but highly likely a political subterfuge.

Holy shit. I know the Major is completely cybernized, but pulling an helicopter like that... That's more than badass.

It was a really well done operation, but why would the helicopter do that? And why by destroying the cyber-brain would it deactivate the lock on the auto-command. Was the pilot behind all of this after all? Was he under someone control? And that infinite symbol, it wasn't there for no reason, further more, we see it again in the preview.

I don't trust that new shit face from the government. He seem like the back-stabbing type.

What is the continuation of the first episode in terms of the main theme? It seems so.
Not bad this mix of action and intrigue, narrative promoted.
Drawings and great secondary characters.
Great OST, who will be the MC of this series along with the major Motoko?

So this was the first dual episode. So far I thought that the Individual Eleven would be the only main story line in this season, but based on the words of the chief at the end of this episode I asume that there will be second one focussing on the refuge/goverment conflict.

I hadn't noticed but Major is using a different outfit this season, xd. I'm glad she is learning to accept herself now and doesn't have to recur to overcompensate with her femininity to feel womanly. I like the new outfit, black clothes just rock, and makes her look always ready for combat.

Machines battling each other is bound to be fun. The music playing during that part was epic as well.

Speaking of music, the track that played when Aramaki was talking to the weird guy sounded like someone was playing with a kazoo. I couldn't take it seriously XD

The tachikoma and then the major stopping that helicopter from moving was badass. What a close call it was for her when Saito sniped the pilot when he did. A classic case of when an AI does its job well, but it's not the job you want it to do!
