Hell, I'm glad the original children and Fujiko are in this episode.

Damn I miss Karou. She's a pretty fun character from the original series. Their encounter with Kyosuke was somewhat tense imo. Otherwise, good episode.

This is some good story and character development...this is some good shit. This show is awesome.

Looks like they are planning on using Yugiri to stop Hyoubu? She does seem like she could be strong enough to do something. Can;t wait for next week.

Sigh, this was the first time I had to give an episode a 4/5 instead of my normal 5/5. It just had so much BABEL and the Children (who, I'm sorry to all the fans, but are the weakest part of this story to me) in it that I felt it was so bogged down. All of their "let's work together" bullcrap after that awesome last episode,I am 100% with PANDRA and Hyoubu on this. It's time for some old-fashioned revenge, and don't you DARE try to make me feel guilty for it!

I thought the ending was good, and I thought it was interesting that Saotome gave Andy the same spiel that he gave Hyoubu. I have to totally go against Fujiko in this, even if you have to somehow form BABEL, I would have found a way to have justice for my murdered comrades and brother. I mean you say you have to compromise, but to what end? You can't just throw away the past, it's what makes you who you are.

It looks like Andy will be facing his former comrades next episode. They don't look too happy; he really hurt them. And what are they trying to do with Yugiri? Also, Hyoubu's illness is suddenly cured, by only a blood transfusion? I smell cop-out.

And Saotome...that guy's death is totally overdue.

Yeah me to, I was hoping it would end up with them being friends. Hopefully they save Yugiri before those freaks do anything to her. Can't wait to see what the rest of Hyoubu's team/friends do to Andy when they next meet.
If strength is justice, then is powerlessness a crime?

I really hope they don't use Yugiri like that T_T (though it's almost obvious that they will D:)

Loved the character development this episode...can't wait for nxt ep. I wonder how everyone will react to Andy?

Well, it's all nice to see the children again.
Kaoru is like the past Kyousuke that always was looking in the future.
Well, it's all nice to see Andy and Kyousuke work together again, Andy will get a punch in the face in the next episode, that's what I believe.

Oh man you can't change revenge part to work together that easy.
Well of course Kaoru want something like that but it's not something easy can be changed.

Finally, a real Hyoubu x Andy team-up without the whole spy business. I just hope the rest of PANDRA can look to forgive Andy as well.

This whole story reminds me of a plot device from the story of Oedipus: a witch makes a prediction that the son will kill the father. Father attempts to do away with said infant son but fails and he grows up and kills his father unknowingly. This never would have happened if there were no stupid witch prediction in the first place, and the son was raised normally with family love...

...here in Zettai Karen Children, the main plot driving this story is the prediction of Kaoru x Hyoubu future war on normals...and people attempt to change that by using deadly force against espers...which results in so much killing and hatred that it led to Hyoubu being literally killed once in an attempt to avoid the prediction, but came back to life and now seeking revenge...against the normals. And so the story unfolds, with none of this ever happening, had there been no prediction, because by trying to fight against something, they unwittingly cause it. Idiots.

Maybe he is on life support? Which is keeping him alive. Like 4 kicks says" Maybe only half of him is left after Hyoubu ripped him in two from the waist down?" Which got me thinking maybe he on a wheelchair since he was never standing. Another thought he could be an Esper too.

Even though this episode was really good I still hate Andy for what he did. Hyoubu might forgive him, but I sure as hell won't.

And I just can't get over the fact a guy that was blown to pieces is alive. Hyoubu was angry, resurrected, under unlimited power, he blew captains body to pieces (or at least it was something similar that was shown) yet he lives. I don't mind guys surviving bullets, insane drops, even getting stabbed, especially if they're somehow connected to supernatural, but he's a normal guy that survived getting his body blown up.
I seriously doubt Hyoubu used any restrictions or limits when he attacked him. He used his full power due to his anger. I repeat, his full power!!! He can raze cities to oblivion when he gets serious, yet this completely normal guy survived that.

Now, I wouldn't even object to this if captain played some big role in this show, but he was in a total of 2 episodes, with no more than 10 minutes of screen time. He was never shown scheming or planning anything, but now all of a sudden he's the main villain? I'm sorry, but that just doesn't cut it for me. He's nobody for me. He's just someone from Hyoubus past that awakened Hyoubus power and is a motivator for Hyoubu. He's the reason Hyoubu is fighting now, NOT a main antagonist.
He already was antagonist, he's served his role, served it perfectly.

I'm sorry, but I just fail to see any reason to bring him back except to get Hyoubu really pissed off yet again.
Oh well, anime logic I guess. But a big shame, just when I thought they're going to really have great finale with good villain and some plot twists it gets the most standard ending ever. This is typical ending, nothing special or new, by-the-book. A guy trusts someone, he betrays him, gets killed but somehow survives. Same guy trusts someone new, gets betrayed again, but this time a traitor is sorry, he gets pardoned and helps main guy defeat first bad guy. It's so overdone in both tv shows and anime it hurts me to see it in a really good show such as this one.

Yea, sorry for the rant, but I guess I just feel really sad this show isn't going to end on such a high note it had throughout its duration. A shame, real shame.

Actually if you think about it, Saotome is the perfect villain to end this out.

This series was supposed to look into Hyoubu as a character and his inner workings. We see what made him the way he is, we see what his dreams and aspirations are. We see his good points and his bad points and we see what he holds dear.

For Hyoubu to be able to finally face Saotome after all this time would be him being able to face his past. He's now able to physically face this specter that has been haunting his life since he was 15 years old. The very man that set him on his current path.

Saotome is a different kind of villain. Sure he's scheming and evil, but that's not really what's important; we have Alan Walsh to be the "mustache-twirling" villain in this. Saotome represents the conflict and hatred that has consumed Hyoubu's life. If he can face down Saotome, and consciously defeat him on his own terms and not on the captain's, then he will actually gain his freedom from the past.

Saotome was right when he says he owns Hyoubu, in a way. All of Hyoubu's actions have been put on that path because of this man who utterly destroyed him both physically and mentally. If Hyoubu is able to face him, he will be a man only unto himself and will be able to carve his own path.

PS. Saotome was is 4 episode total, not two. And that pretty much 1/3 of the series. And since he'll also be in the last two, that's 6, which is 1/2 the series. That's not bad for a surprise villain. And it's definitely better than trying to cram something like Black Phantom into the last few episodes of the story...

Actually, I think forgiving Andy and working with him would be a best test to Hyoubu. Facing same betrayal he had in the past happen again and being able to forgive a guy that is sincerely sorry and wants to help you would be greatest challenge to Hyoubu. They didn't need to resurrect a guy for that.
Captain was the reason Hyoubu wanted to get revenge on normals, he was the reason Hyoubu didn't trust them. Getting betrayed just like that once again, but now by a different guy and being able to finally forgive and move on would be the ultimate test for him. Again, no need to bring captain back. He served his role, he's done it flawlessly. He's in Hyoubus mind all the time, making him hate and making him angry. He should've stayed that way, psychological enemy, not physical one.

And this is the chance for Hyoubu to be able to get rid of the specter enslaving his mind, sort of like he did with his dead father when he was little. Hyoubu doesn't have to stay a tragic character and he can find redemption in this if he wants.

As for forgiving Andy being a test,it wouldn't be the same. Andy is a man who Hyoubu knew from the get go, was a spy. He knew there was the element of betrayal in having him in PANDRA. He's much smarter, wiser, and less naive than his younger self. While Andy's betrayal did have impact, it was no where NEAR the impact that Saotome's betrayal had been.

Saotome was not just Hyoubu's friend, he was his surrogate father and confidant. He trusted that man like no other. He never had that kind of relationship with Andy, so the betrayal didn't mean the same. Hyoubu has dealt with betrayal before, but never on the same level as the very first time.

The Captain's actions have defined his entire life, I think facing HIM to be the much bigger challenge. This is the man that had the entire ESP unit killed and then tried to kill him. To be able to finally face him without a blood rage clouding his mind, that would be a phenomenal leap in his character development. And then maybe at that point he can look towards the future, instead of staying enslaved to the past.

Not only is Saotome the person who betrayed Hyoubu, Fujiko, and their friends at the end of the war, he is also a major obstacle in the way of Hyoubu's plans to establish a separate existence for Espers. Since Saotome shows no signs that he has changed in his attitudes toward Espers (having Andy killed, abducting and holding hostage Yuugiri), I think it is entirely reasonable for Hyoubu to continue to go after him since he will always be a threat. On the other hand, it may well be Andy who does the deed in the end.

Not having seen the first series or read the manga, I'm judging this shearly on Unlimited, but it looks to me like if there is going to be any healing for Hyoubu it will be through the efforts of Fujiko and Kaoru. Fujiko as the big sister and Kaoru as more than simply a future queen--that scene in the forest certainly seemed to indicate she has some developing feelings for him.

This series has also pushed up the main Zettai Children to number one priority on my "completed anime to catch up on" list. I would also hope there is another series sometime in the future to complete the story.

Actually, surprisingly (or actually not), Minamoto will be the one that has the better chance of healing him in the manga currently. In fact, Minamoto embodies the spirit of BABEL. Clearly, the future is not easy to overturn. However, the manga series timeline is already starting to change by the combined effort of the Children. Minamoto does play a very important role at raising the Children as they are. No wonder he's the main character in the main series.

I suggest you read the manga instead of the first anime since I find it much better (couldn't stand the Children's voices in anime).

The point is that Minamoto try to avoid falling into the "all normal/esper are good/bad and must be eliminated, etc" ideology, which is a much more rational choice compared to the old Hyoubu which is "espers are superior and normals can go F*** themselves" mentality.

Surprisingly enough, Hyoubu really have a love-hate relationship with Minamoto. The dynamics between these two is really funny.

I'm glad that Kyousuke forgave Andy -- those two really do make a great team. Didn't expect that the man who recruted Andy would be the same one who sure betrayed Kyousuke all those decades ago. That moment of Andy and Kaoru bonding on their little road trip was nice. Andy really does make a good onii-chan to little girls. Next week -- REVENGE!

This anime . WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY its sooooo underrated ._________.

I love it . I am pretty much sure next episode will be amazing. and with this kind of flow , I shall not worry about the last episode later. It shall be really nice ending.

Though it is really sad to know Hyobu is dying :(
I love this anime , I cannot actually predict or 'calculate' the accurate future for Hyobu , it is 50-50 whether he'll survive or not.

But I vote and hope he alive :)

10/10 , favorite anime of the year!

This anime is so DAMN GOOD! I'm loving this so much and I haven't even seen ZKC. I'll definitely check out ZKC one day. The Unlimited - Hyoubu Kyousuke has to be the anime of this season though. The character development, story, action, everything about it is done so well. You can tell that Kaoru/Queen really cares for Hyoubu even though they are pretty much 'enemies'. I'm glad that Hyoubu and Andy are on 'good terms' again. Also, I want Fujiko to be with Hyoubu already. :( Still can't believe how underrated this anime is. Needs more recognition!

Honestly, when I first watched this episode, I was a little disappointed. The second time around was better, but I still feel that this has been the weakest episode so far.

I really loved the opening scene in the water, though I wasn't expecting Fujiko to save them, haha. At least not right away. There was a lot of BABEL in this episode, with focus on Kaoru, which I hated the first time around, but then I realized it was kind of important to show what their relationship is like, and how different yet similar they are. As for the blood transfusion thing, I wasn't buying it at first, but I guess it wasn't meant to be a permanent solution it only buys him time, so that's okay. I was severely disappointed that Andy wasn't chewed out more for, I dunno, sinking Kyosuke's ship and betraying them. He got off super easy, which was why it was difficult for me to accept the two of them teaming up at the end (even though I was rooting for them to work together). I mean, Kyosuke is definitely the kind of guy who sets him mind to something and thinks only of that - in this case Saotome - so I can see that he was way too distracted by the current plot twist to properly deal with Andy, but it still bugs me.

And thus we get to the punchline. Saotome. His return is definitely the worst thing to happen to his series. I mean it. I cannot believe they decided to make him the main villain. I am so angry, you have no idea. Whether or not it's logically possible for him to survive (cause there's no point in fighting over it) he brings nothing to the table as a villain. Some people have said that Kyosuke facing Saotome again is like he's facing his inner demons. I agree with the idea, but it won't add anything to the story or Kyosuke's character development, and I'll tell you why. Basically, the exact same thing that happened in the past is going to repeat itself. The only difference is that now Kyosuke is actually a threat. If this is supposed to be a face-off with Kyosuke's inner conflicts, then in the end he has to change. That's the only way for this to be significant at all. But honestly, I seriously doubt that Kyosuke will change at all. Saotome's existence, if anything, strengthens all of Kyosuke's negative feelings and sends moving backwards again. Also, Kyosuke's main problem is that he's constantly stuck in the events that happened in the past, and thus can't move forward. Bringing him literally face-to-face with that past is not going to help him, it's just going to drag him down even more.

I think that's all I have to say. Sorry it was so long, haha.

I agree with you mostly about the episode in that I thought it was bogged down at first but after a second viewing it was better. I'm sorry, but even in the original parent show, I found both Kaoru and Fujiko grating and annoying characters. So to see them have a large focus here was again, annoying.

As for Kyousuke not chewing out Andy, he's never really been a "chewing out" type. If you make a mistake, he doesn't yell and scream at you. He gives you a hardened look and then begins to treat you sternly until he what he feels is an adequate amount of time. Simply the way he just gave him that callous stare and stayed silent to Andy as if the man was no longer worth his time, was harsh in comparison to the the way he used to joke and smile with the man. I'm sure Andy's noticed, and in a way the silent approach can be a better punishment than all the yelling a screaming in the world.
Hyoubu gave Andy another chance because the guy was simply a taken-in pawn, who was feed the same BS by the same man as Hyoubu himself was. Hyoubu is wise enough to recognize that, and has given Andy another chance. However, he will still probably keep his distance at least for the time being. Also, I think he did slightly test him. Notice that despite the fact that Hyoubu probably knew Andy's location in the forest the whole time, he never asked him to come with, he never appealed to him. He made him make his own choice of what side he was going to be on. However, Hyoubu was expecting him to make the choice that he did and had carried Andy's limiter with him, but he wanted to see if the man would make it on his own.

As for the blood transfusion thing, I did think it a cop-out. I have no idea how it will help the fact that his t-loops are deteriorating. T-loops on the DNA is, like DNA, in EVERY part of your body, so how will a simply blood transfusion help? Maybe it can give him more new cells to work with I guess, and like you said, really stalls for time.

I have already stated why I think Saotome is the perfect villain in this case, and it remains to be seen whether Hyoubu will learn anything from it in the end. Maybe in an effort to NOT be like the Captain, he may reform his genocidal thoughts?

Thinking it through, you're right about Kyosuke's attitude towards Andy. He really doesn't get explicitly angry at people he cares about for making mistakes. Especially since in Andy's case, he's already received consequences - like yugiri getting captured, and him being shot - so yeah, there's really nothing for Kyosuke to say to him. And yeah, even at the end when Andy decides to help out, Kyosuke is still rather cold and silent towards him.
I'm glad you pointed that out to me, because one of the things I love about this show is that it doesn't feel the need to tell you outright what every character is thinking or the reasons behind all of their actions. It's all very subtle and leaves you to piece things together on your own.

As for the deal with Saotome, you do make some good points about Kyosuke being able to face his past, and becoming own person, rather than this 'monster' that Saotome created. (I also thought the same thing about Saotome 'owning' Kyosuke) That said, I still don't like it. And I still think that their face-off will do more harm than good, but I'll keep an open mind for the next couple episodes. So far this show hasn't let me down, so I trust that one way or the other it'll be a satisfying end.

Just catched up to the anime after putting the series on hold at ep. 3 because it was pretty boring and I never thought it would turn out decent considering what Manglobe did to Hayate (which I can't help but associate with ZKC, due to their first seasons being done by the same people, similar mood and the Hayate cameos in season one), but I was bored so I thought why not.

Well, the anime definitely turned out better than I imagined, and Manglobe kinda redemeed themselves after the many failres they've done in the past few years. The continuation of the main story would have been still better (especially since the manga only got really interesting in the middle school arc), but as a spinoff, this is great.

I kinda feel bad for those who haven't watched the original series yet, but planning to after this because they will be probably really disappointed by the different mood.

I don't get how that guy who Hyoubu killed is still alive though.

Maybe Hyoubu´s powers of resurrection worked for people close to him...

Anyway Hyoubu is a badass, I love him~

Wow captain he's alive?
Well, it's clearly Hyoubu's fault for not finishing him off
People like that often bothering the MCs in the future

I have no idea what the Children, Minamoto, Hyobu, and BABEL are like in the main series, but based on this spin-off alone I am rooting for Hyobu and PANDRA
