Here's my biggest gripe, mostly because they're focusing so much on WWII era AFV. While not unique in this regard, the thing Germany brought to the table so much more so than any other nation in the late 1930s was tank to tank and inter-tank communications. Besides every German AFV having a radio (which was NOT the norm in any other army at the start of the war in Europe), the commander of the Mk III and Mk IV most certainly DID NOT use kick signals to tell the driver what to do. In particular, when they overran Czechoslovakia and took the 35(t) and 38(t) one of the first things they did was replace the "light signal" on those tanks with an intercom..

Actually this is the biggest issue for a military freak to enjoy such a show because it is too easy to assume that they would just recreate the real battle situation and use the strategy in the real war in this anime. But it is clearly stated that it is an anime about SENSHADO, a tournament type of sports that have its own rules and it will be different from how the tanks were used or operated in real historical situation. it is just like Kendo looks very different from a real fight using japanese swords. So far we are not sure whether in SENSHADO it is a fact that "every German AFV has a radio".
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Pretty funny episode, interesting so far. I wonder how they will handle the actual tank fighting. I'm not a fan of tanks in general so I hope they keep it moe.w

I am very disappointed in this episode. I figured the first episode wasn't too exciting, but it carried on to the second as well. I was waiting for a battle to start, which only came at the end of the episode. Now I did enjoy seeing the different models of tanks, as well as the roles of each person. But when the battle started, the episode ended (I didn't believe it at first). I do like the tanks still, but the girls and the time wasted is not enjoyable, but I don't really like any characters yet either, so it is a pain to watch for now.

It's not the case for me that I would expect them to 'recreate' the real battle situation and strategies - such actually happening in ANY cinema is so incredibly rare that I'm surprised when something actually does do just that. Rather, it's that I'm disappointed about the lack of an intercom in the Mk IV and whatever reference they used telling them that the driving directions where given via kicking. The Mk III and Mk IV were rather mediocre designs and often outclassed by what they faced, even in France, but at least in the first year of the war that intercom allowing the commander to say "turn left at that tree and then get us hull down in that ditch" instead of kicking the driver in the left shoulder gave them a big advantage, more important than armor and gun stats.

Well, whatever. It's not like I want this to be ultra realistic. The last thing I want to see is a cordite flash roasting the girls, for instance. It was just that it was such a jarring discrepancy from what the tank historically was equipped with and made it different from other early war tanks.

I enjoyed this episode more than the first; it had some pretty good humor and a taste of some tank action.

I thought I'd make a couple quick .gifs to show a part that made me giggle, even though I kind of felt sorry for the girl.

Now, she stumbled slowly. Kind of like this.

Let's turn this into a dance. Speed it up a bit.

Anyone recall this?

The Tank Pong mode on Combat for the Atari was loads of fun.

Two things I found somewhat iffy from this ep:

1) Despite being completely submerged for quite some time the StuG III is still fully functional. Is this even possible assuming that no water got into the interior? I find this really stretching the imagination.

2) Obviously the tanks that are used were not as sophisticated as they are now but how steep was the learning curve in terms of driving and fighting them? We have a full on mock battle going on with people who just got the tanks rolling for the first time and they picked up on operating them pretty fast.

This is a joke. I love how the girls describe their new tanks. Also I think that the sounds and the CGI is really good, you can hear the metal tearing the floor when they pulled the brake. The mix of girls and somewhat realistic tanks is a complete joke, it's absurd, it's a comedy.

I'll watch this for the lulz.

Looks like there is some confusion over the tanks in the series. The tank the instructor is using is the Type 90 tank which is Japan’s current main battle tank. This should not be confused with the T90 which is an altogether different tank and is used by the Russians.

Except it's not the Type 90, it's the more recent Type 10 tank. It even says so on the official site.

So there's absolutely no logic in this anime, hahaha wtf life how in the world does the a tank end up in a cave on a middle of a cliff. I lol'd at all the foolishness that went on in this ep, especially with them trying to operate the tanks. And yes Saori, that whole video in the 1st ep was a complete scam.

Yes, they really are live rounds ! Apparently, they are conventional rounds used in
real life. For example, those rounds really do wreck engines and blow tracks off.

This does mean that Senshado is dangerous. However, apparently, the risk is small
enough that it is acceptable.

The BIG assumption in Senshado is that the interior of the tanks is coated with "carbon"
which gives the girls 100% protection. No additional details have ever been given. This
was mentioned by Miho during the battle against St. Gloriana. She was talking to
Saori, the radio operator.

A "carbon coating" may not sound very strong, but there are some real-life theoretical
reasons to think that it could be very, very strong. But I don't know if it is realistic
that it could stop an armor-piercing round from a 128-mm gun from penetrating the
back of a light tank with 10-mm armor. However, let's not overthink this.

In the real world, sports are dangerous. High school kids sometimes get very
seriously hurt. Cheerleading is very dangerous. Archery is very dangerous. So to
me it seems plausible that there could be real danger in Senshado.

People without training or experience shouldn't be allowed to hold weapons with live rounds in them, much less fire them in the general direction of other people. I don't care how much armor those tanks have, that's just asking for a lethal accident. That new teacher is utterly incompetent in every way so far :/

They're actually sending high school girls inside tanks to duke it out...with live rounds.

Worse, the girls are poking their heads outside of the tanks while being fired upon. o_O

Episode that manages to be interesting at times when you approach the tanks, a little less when it comes to another. Drawings of a good standard, CG really powerful this time and really smooth animations.
The various characters begin to take character and also really fun to be in their jokes.

I really like that lazy sleepy head girl, she seems like the most interesting character so far. Good fight principal's car. "First take off your clothes" LOL, it's sad how that's a normal response when interacting with a girl on the net.

It was hard to place my finger on it, but this reminds me of Kantai Collection in the sense that it has many hit or miss moments (seriously no pun inten---). There are scenes that have me roaring, but some of the character interactions feel too static and safe.

They managed to put in a surprising amount of references or quotes, and the answers to the one team using the internet..i wonder if they actually posted that question somewhere and used the real answers. Though when i just looked it up right now, i got actually useful answers (well, from what looks useful, i don't have a tank around to try it out..).

The game they played (or the training simulator, not clear what it was supposed to be in the anime) was the original Battlezone from 1980.

This show seems to be a bit different from Kantai Collection or Strike Witches, as tankery is a sport here, they are not in a real against some aliens or whatever, and our motley crew is all-japanese, so not really motley i guess..
