Ahhhh... annoying subtitles, WTF... I'll be back after it's release by a group that pays attention.

I found a good one. It just took a while, some major patience and bing lol. Weird that the site that had a well timed dub was the one I thought least likely to have it lol.

I liked this episode less than I liked the first but it was still enjoyable. LOVE the bed-head lol. I think I mainly didn't like the new girl was my problem. But meh meeby she will grow on me.
While not the most stellar episode I've ever watched, I'm not threatning to drop this like I am Zetman.

still enjoying this alot something about this show that makes my brain hurt but still entertained at the same time, and as for the people that find Eru way to pushy i agree with that (hell if it was me since i find my personality close to that of Oreki in which i'm quite lazy and don't like when people bother me to that extent haha) theres just something abnormal about her besides the eyes! nobody is that pushy so i wouldn't say i find her annoying unless by the end of the series there was no explanation as to why she acts how she does which i expect to happen.

There's definitely nothing special about the characters so far, but the little mysteries intrigue me. I will keep watching for now. The art and animation are also beautiful. I really wonder what Chitanda's confession is...

Love the animation in this show, it'll probably end up as one of my favorites this season. Everybody's likeable in one way or another, and it's actually possible to follow the process of solving the mystery (unlike so many other shows in this genre). There's a real sense of logic here.

Hoping to see romantic development in this series, even if it takes precedence to the actual mysteries. The ending seems to be pointing in that direction, though I have enough experience to know that it's all probably a big misunderstanding.

I personally had no problem with the ED; I was too mesmerized by the awesome constellations and night sky to take notice of the girls. It's not really fanservice unless you're looking at the girls specifically.

The OP and ED sound really awesome, will be waiting anxiously for the full versions :3 I do enjoy Choucho's works.

Kyaaaaaaaaa, Eru killed me again.
I dznno bout the story of this anime, but if eru keeps murdering me, I don't really care. Also, she has a very cute way to intrude upon people's private space XD

Oh, and Maid!Eru slaughtered me
I want Rambo in a mecha-suit with a laser-chainsaw gun that fires nuclear warheads, fighting the love-child of Predator, Alien, a group of Bangladeshi terrorists, and Satan. (Actually that would be a pretty sick show) - StopDropAndBowl

Hyouka is looking like a really solid show. The overall atmosphere reminds me of Clannad, except replace some comedy with mystery. I'm glad KyoAni decided to choose this as their project now; LB can wait XD

Chitanda is toeing the line between cute and irritating for me. I hope that whatever her revelation is also involves her calming down a little. As for the others, I like them all.

The animation in this is so good; in less action oriented series like this one it can be hard to notice good quality, but I was very happy watching characters who weren't the focus continuing to move rather than being statues. I wish every good series had the sort of budget necessary to do that, haha.

I'm pretty disappointed in how fetishistic the ED is. Guess there's just going to be fan service in every show Japan puts out nowadays, no matter the content.
If it brings money and eventual Clannad and Angel Beats, should you not be happy about it? If you have a better way to make $$$ off anime in general then by all means but TBH I bitch too at fan service but in thee end it's really venting because there is nothing you can do about it. My BLOG is the best example of fan service going rather adult extreme. So yeah be happy that $$$ is coming cause that is what it takes to make anime. Does that make sense.

I just feel bad for female audience in going down since some girls fan service in anime is a no to watch right away.

I can deal with fanservice- Chobits was one of the first anime I completed (and that was when I was 11 or 12), and for a while I really enjoyed yuri more than anything else- but I find it a little depressing that it seems that anime creators feel that even stuff that is very high quality needs fanservice to sell.

That said, I'm okay with the ED for this. It seems innocent enough to me.
If any of my posts seem odd, it's probably because I'm tired. Sorry. I have sleeping issues.

Glad they're finally getting some kind of plot in this show, but seeing how the past two episodes already went and this is a 21 episode series, I'm definitely expecting more episodes of high school students solving extremely mundane "mysteries" before they get to dealing with a mystery that's probably not very mysterious at all.
Then you missed out on the PV where it clearly showed a monster, although it's debatable as to when they should include it. I bang on episode 6 as intuition to as far as going around episode 10/11 half point. Remains to see but there was a monster and there was action, I hope no one gets hurt in all this remember that Kanon 2006 had a slice of life until shit hits the fan with that haunting in the school if you remember. Then this series might do something like that. A mystery that threatens lives to the point that solving it might get the characters hurt.

And where might this pv be? I've watched two of them and see no sign of any "monster" whatsoever.

wow, once again, STUNNING VISUALS

i dont know why, but the mystery-solving theme is REALLY hooking me in. i hope they get into deep sherlock holmes kinds of mysteries.
houtaro just has that knack for mystery-solving, and of course, eru is there to push him.
cant wait to see mayak's and satoshi's roles develop more, as well

and wow, only the 2nd ep and eru's already confessing to houtaro? something tells me she's going to say something otherwise at the beginning of the next ep x]

definitely a favorite anime of this season so far

Alright, found a properly timed sub.

Well, I'm definitely liking this so far. I don't mind a slow pace since it's a "long" season, and I don't mind easy puzzles here since it's just starting and the narrative is not implying they aren't easy (it's just the clueless Eru making a big deal out of it.)

I find Eru likeable despite being on the pushy side... the way her energetic personality is portrayed reminds me a bit of Fuko from Clannad (which somehow doesn't surprise me)... but less childish of course. That and her hypnotic eyes really appeal to me.

Of course, it's understandable how she would be difficult to deal with for someone like Oreki, since humoring Eru is easier and less tiresome then putting up a resistance... Oreki is doomed by his own philosophy. XD

On another note, what's this about the ED being fanservice? I don't see it... maybe I would if I was a fundamentalist Muslim (no offense intended), but alas I'm not... I think it's intended to be cute rather than erotic, but what do I know?, that's just my point of view.

@episode: I'm curious!
I really like this anime so far, hope that the real 'mystery' will really be interesting.

edit: I always find it amusing how people want to rate the whole anime based on 1 or 2 episodes. Sometimes anime take a few episodes until they are really good or get you hooked.

People like you piss me off to no end. A slow episode means you drop an entire experience, only after seeing 10% of it.
It makes no sense to do that. If you've watched it for 2 episodes, you can watch it for one more. I always watch 25% of any anime I'm "on-the-fence" on, before deciding what to do. If you drop it before even 10% has gone by, I really don't think you should be watching anime in the first place - or be talking on a site where people spend A LOT of time on anime.

Agreed; people like this piss me off also; they are judging the entire series on two episodes T_T; these kinda people are likely the kinda people who drop shows like Steins; Gate thinking it never got better O_O

That last scene with Chitanda and Oreki at the cafe was nice. <3 What's the confession eh? :S

Truth is, alot of great anime out there tend to seem mundane at first before getting MUCH better. Steins;Gate being the perfect example, anime like Gosick and Fate/Zero fall into this category too.

Personally, I give everything I can sit through a 4 episode chance, but if I am being bored to death before that I'll drop it earlier. As for Hyouka, it's not usually the kind of anime I like anyway.

"Hyouka: You can't escape": I'm beginning to suspect that the subheading refers to Chitanda's possessive attitude towards Houtaro. Despite her airhead appearance it is heavily hinted at a more complex subtext especially with her constantly mentioning some "personal reasons". I also liked her notion how knowledge could be divided into knowlegde about different parts and knowledge about how the whole system works. It is more than the sum of its parts, indeed.

Anyways, the characters have great chemistry and the dialogue sounds really natural because of that. I sense a hint of mournfulness concerning Houtaro despite his tough exterior, a feeling that probably comes from the distance he feels between himself and the people surrounding him.

So Mayaka likes Satoshi but for some reason she can't stand Houtarou. It was nice seeing her jealous at the end though. She'll be a entertaining new member to the cast.

I think Eru wants him to solve that personal matter she was referring to earlier. I don't think it's the love confession Houtarou expects it to be.
