- Weak mains - generally harem leads. They're not even good-looking guys AND they're total pathetic losers... How are they getting chicks?! - Bad CGI. It just... looks bad... - Over-sized casts. Bleach is a perfect example of this and one of the (many) reasons why I stopped keeping up with it long ago... - Constant flashbacks and re-cap episodes. HATED this about Gundam Seed/Destiny. - When characters state the obvious. - When a comedy turns serious and tries to take itself seriously in any shape, way, or form. This is why Baka to Test worked for me... it was ridiculous for the sake of being ridiculous. - School settings in a genre that isn't slice of life. - Romantic comedies with all the cliches. - Pacifistic main characters in a war setting. ... The list goes on, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. |

I haven't read Berserk but try and pay more attention to how characters like Misa and Matsuda are drawn in DN, Dieter, Grimmer, and The Baby in Monster, and did Gantz' scoring system switch to non-shitty pictures since the last time I saw it? Anyway good luck in finding anime based on manga that are as super serious as you are. |

NEETs (No Employment Education Training) are the least desirable people anybody would want to hire and yet they are the first choice to become moderators/admins around the internet. They have yet to have established a sense of responsibility or role in society and many are plain leeches (with minor exceptions). They are given "authority" to police sections of the internet with the powers of The Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Tsunderes, especially the violent, jealous (or violently jealous) type. Abusing/humiliating the MC for a cheap laugh, especially violently. Yes, I realize this disqualifies 80% or so of anime comedy. Harem 'leaders' who have no interest in girls or are totally oblivious to the horde of women wetting themselves over him. Censored nudity or gore, especially if it's not really nudity (Horizon's groping censor anyone?), and doubly so if it's for no reason except to boost BD sales for the uncensored version (HotD anyone?). When a much cuter and/or more useful secondary girl gets passed over for the bitchy, annoying primary female *koffkoffSakurakoff* And like the man said, "Welcome, new transfer student! Your new chair happens to be directly adjacent to the main character, what a coincidence." The MC always sits in the exact same chair too, a window seat two or three rows from the back, so he can stare off into space and ponder his harem/giant robot/impending doom. Also so he can look out into the schoolyard and see whatever happens to be attacking his oh-so-fragile 'normal' school life this week. |

"You give me no choice." "So you two are on a date?" "So when's your wedding?" A girl beating up a guy for almost everything he says.. Fillers.. Main character is totally dumb. "Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" Kindest and never-hated character worries if he/she's standing in someone's way. Too much promiscuity.. Anime didn't really end and it's been several years since they stopped airing it. |

I think that some anime can get pretty annoying with the gender roles. I love anime, but they can say some pretty backwards things, sometimes. Which might lead me to mention that I hate the whole "oh know, it's a guy. He thinks about sex" stuff. Which you get all of the time. There are these annoying gender tensions sometimes. Especially about the issues of sexuality. The females are almost always incredibly asexual and innocent, if viciously so. And when not, their sexuality is almost always some variety of a heterosexual male sexuality. Not to say that female and male sexuality are necessarily different. But in terms of society, there's an obvious male gaze at play. I'm not being essentialist, I'm saying that, as we see men, it's as if when putting a sexuality in the characters, they give an almost distant irony between the character and their gender. Like being sexual means being a man and having an out of body experience. And a designated "heterosexual male" experience seems to always be pushed on every situation a female is being sexual. For instance, Softenni. There are girls who are portrayed as "perverts" for a change. But instead of them being sexual in a way that a guy is expected to be towards girls, they sexualize themselves in a way expected of guys to them. Hence the "male gaze" and basically being a female, when given a sexuality, basically being temporarily possessed, so to speak, by sociological heterosexual male. In fact, there seems to be almost no real exploration of the female sexuality at all in anime. It's sexualizing women and women sexualizing themselves, not women being sexual and having their own gaze. It's a little annoying. I would just like to be thrown a little bit of a bone here. |

What is definitely most loathsome is when anime says "we could resolve these relationships, but let's not, just because". So many good romances just suffer from stagnation because the anime refuses to resolve the relationships. This happens far too often. |

How high pitch the female voices are. A.K.A. the main reason I can't watch anime openly. I've heard a lot of female characters that sound normal in anime. Then a character with the voice of a ten year old on helium comes out of nowhere, just about always making me turn the volume down, even when I'm usually wearing headphones. This becomes 50x worse when the character is crying/acting embarrased. |

Female characters who do nothing expect for being cute and ditzy, or where 90% of their screen time is made out of underwear shots and cleavage shots. And loli, tsundere, harem, ecchi (of any kind), hentai, characters that blush fifty times an episode, and much much more. Oh and fanboys who think they're so much better than fangirls when in reality they're just as pathetic. I'm starting to feel like all my posts here reek of bitterness |

I really hate when characters explain their whole technique to the person, before he fricken finds out. Keep it to urself >_<. Maybe thats why you lost >:O I also hate characters that are useless. These characters (The characters from the animes I've seen) are usually apparently females. It annoys me so much. These character just do the commentary. Nothing else. They just sit, and explain the whole damn story. |

I hate when a very powerful opponent becomes an ally, and is weakened after that, for one reason or another. 3 examples: Naruto/Shippuuden: Gaara. He becomes an ally, only to soon have his tailed beast taken from him. Soul Eater: Crona. Once "he" becomes friends with Maka, Ragnarok shrinks in both power and size. "He" also seems to forget how to even use his black blood to fight. Toaru Majutsu no Index: Accelerator. While he didn't officially turn good, he was no longer an enemy either. Regardless, he lost a lot of his power when he got shot in the head. |

-I don't mind fanservice, but I hate it when there is too much that it eats the series. -When a character that looks serious/badass has a ridiculous voice -Getting a technique out of nowhere (ex. Luffy gets his Gear Second) -When characters are pretty bland/generic. (mostly adaptation of eroge games) -Having an ending that doesn't look like ending. (ex. C) -Plot holes. (ex. C (again)) -Character ripoffs. (ex. Haruna (ToLoveRu) from Shinobu (Love Hina), there are probably a lot more with bob hair... does Siesta (ZnT) count? and Utao (Kamisama Dolls) has a big resemblance to the first two I mentioned.) -and freaking recaps!!!!! |

Oh man, I thought my last post would've been the conclusion. Thank you for the info, I have learned something again. I guess my rant just came from always being attacked in google searches lol. For example, I'm trying to find a nice profile picture of some sort when I come across the issue we are discussing right now. I guess it's not really the anime, but more of a small portion of the fan base that irritates me. Although, thanks to you 2 I have definitely learned the difference between the 2 terms for future reference. Let's get back to the question of this topic. |
