We got one of the most intense fight of the season to cap off the finale.

Seeing pilots like Machu, Shuuji, etc fight was tough. Machu especially pushed herself to the limit in this episode. Felt like an emotional episode too after everything Machu went through. She's found her reason to fight and purpose in life.

My GOD the sabunga this episode WENT FUCKING HARD. They pulled out all the stops this episode LIKE HOLY SHIT. The OST this episode as well man, they nailed everything in this final fight. I mean, hell, for a while there we went fully 2D... TWO FUCKING D MECHS..... IN 2025???? Crazy shit man. And yeah, Kira Kira scenes just a gorgeous as always, will for sure miss seeing those.

My feelings with Shuuji stay the same, that I wish he was fleshed out a bit more so I could feel a bit more when I see Machu FUCKING KISSING THE DUDE LIKE WHAT AHHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAA. I can't even begin to tell you what the fuck I was seeing after this kiss... but hey, THEY FUCKING KISSED LETS GOOO AHAHAAAAAA

Do feel like at times that this really should’ve been at least 2 cours, maybe even 4, because while there were good moments and nice callback references, everything felt way too crammed especially in these last few episodes rushing toward the final climax here, but I did like how they wrapped everything up here... for the most part lol. Maybe I'll watch more Gundam now, definitely has me intrigued now.

BAAAAANG THEY STUCK THE ENDING. Greatest modern Gundam. A love letter to OG fans. I still wanted more episodes, but the hype moments were just too much for me to deny this greatness. This was perfect. I was really nervous how they’d wrap everything up in such a short period of time, but the mad lads went above and beyond. Now do more in this timeline/multiversal era plesse.

There’s a lot to unpack here, but I’ll start with the Shuji stuff. I’m still a little confused on who or what exactly he’s supposed to be. We all thought Amuro would be the one piloting the RX 78-2. Is Shuji’s Amuro’s spirit or what? Either way, the fact he’s basically been chasing Lalah from timeline to timeline erasing these worlds she’s made is crazy. He’s basically the Gundam version of the TVA. Poor thing never stopped and asked himself if there were another way.

Lmaooo at Char packing up Kycilia very similar to how he did in the original timeline “from this point forward, you can keep Gihren company” 😭 it’s even crazier when you remember she was just praising he and Sayla as ideal kids that made her want to become a mother. Somethings never change I guess.

Some of the best 3DCGI animation you’ll ever see in this episode. Char vs Chalia, the GFreD and Gquuuuuux vs Gramps, it was incredible. Studio Khara brought their A game to this and you’d expect nothing less really. I loved the animation in the EVA rebuilds, think it fits Gundam very well. That Machu and Nyaan tag team fight felt like past meets present which is fitting because that’s basically what Gquuuuuux as a series is. I fucking lost it when we got a giant force ghost gramps tho 😂

“I’m not alone because the gquuuuuux was always by my side” OH SHIT THEY WENT FULL EVANGELION!! EVEN DOWN TO THE SUIT ROAR. The OST even feels like an EOE remix lmao. The last 8 minutes is where I started jumping up and down because BITCH DID SHUJI JUST CONFESS TO MACHU AND A KISS?!!! WHAT!!

So the power of love saves the day after all, that Kira-Kira explosion at the end was absolutely beautiful. Really this was the best possible ending, I wanted more Kycilia, but you could never rest peacefully knowing she was in charge of Zeon. Sayla being the leader in this timeline is like Minerva in Unicorn era, she’ll lead with kindness. CHAR AND LALAH REUNION!!! This means everything to me, they finally get to be happy together. And Nyaan and Machu finally reach earth. Nyaan has a place where she belongs now. WE EVEN GOT MF ANQQI BACK IN THE SHOW HELLO?!!

Gquuuuuux isn’t without its flaws, but idc man I loved this shit. The nostalgia bait was too strong for me to resist and I love evangelion so this was basically two of my fave franchises mashed together and it just worked. I just want them to do more with this and start giving us more mainline UC stuff past unicorn as well. Gundam is too damn good not to milk better than sunrise are doing!!

Well at least it's over. What a disappointing series.

It's just a shame that production this good was wasted on a script that is so certifiably ass.

This was honestly one of the worst Gundam series I've ever watched. I've watched almost every non-build series (only missing 4) and I'd rank Gquux in the bottom 5 of the list. It had nothing going for itself other than 0079 jerking. Main trio was terrible (hell, I'd say every single character other than Challia Bull was terrible) and had literally 0 chemistry (Machu might be the worst Gundam protag I've seen, surpassing even Uso which I thought was not possible), clanbat part was a total waste of time and didn't develop either the cast or the setting at all, pacing was atrocious, plot made no sense. It also had the worst case of newtype bullshittery in the series, surpassing even Unicorn.

It had some cool fight scenes, especially in the last episode, but that's it. Episode 2 was also amazing because it felt completely separated from rest of the series. Those are the only positive things I can say about the series. Worst part about Gquuux is that apart from being a terrible series, we'll never get another "what if Zeon won" AU because it's already been done. A setting that interesting got wasted, forever. I'm gonna be honest, if this didn't have the "Gundam" name in its title, it'd have 5/10 score at best at MAL/anilist. My overall rating is 3.5/10 with a disappointed (not mad) look.

I don't care what anyone says the episode was great, as a Nyaan fan though she had a small part in the ending I loved it, only complaint is that Chalia and Char's fight feels strange if you don't think about the multiverse shenanigans and even with that it's a little meh

So Unit GQuuuuuuX deployed an AT field and Machu saved the universe!

Lalah gets to meet Char.

Zeon puts it's troubled leadership in the ground and gets to hopefully move towards a brighter future.

But most importantly of all Machu and Nyaan get that apartment together and live out the ED, I am so freaking happy ( T_T )

Gundam my ass that was eva vs gurren lagann fight or something lmao. Great animation and action sequence though. But I do have to ask what was the point of this whole anime? Give a happy end to Char and Lalah Sune? I mean I'm glad they got their better end but that's about it really. This whole anime felt like a big nothingburger. The distribution of episodes also feels wrong, if they were making a 12 episode anime why waste 7 episode on random ass stuff, thought we'd be getting two cours given the pacing of earlier episodes.

This anime is another proof that just pretty visuals and animation doesn't make a good anime. Nobody let Khara make another Gundam, ever again. Anyway back to playing stellar blade.

What no Amuro? So Shūji pilots the RX-78-2.

Challia saw the one 0079 episode where he appears 😆

Casval could've been a son to Kycilia 😆 that's why she tried taming Nyaan.

Challia betrays Char (he saw CCa too 🤣). He's already in contact with Lady Artesia.

I like that giant RX-78-2 became completely white like Tomino originally intended (primary colors sold toys better), the G-3 from the novel and the rollout color Gundam's in MSV and The Origin Advent of the Red Comet also drew from that idea.

When the GQuuuuuuX appeared behind Machu when she was talking to Shūji in the Kira Kira that was definitely Amuro's voice, and the arms overlayed over Machu's had an EFF officer's cuffs.

Wow was Artesia's outfit a Wing Reference? NO WAY RAMBA RAL????

Challia took Char's mask?

Shūichi Ikeda, Tōru Furuya and Keiko Han are in the credits!

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022

One of the worst Gundam anime I have ever had the mispleasure of watching.

An abysmally-paced shit show that does absolutely nothing correctly. The new cast are laughably terrible, with literally no development, relationships or anything that makes anything they do feel valuable. To the very end, Machu and Nyaan are just dragged along by the plot and have no real desires of their own to shape their actions. Challia Bull may have technically existed prior to this, but here he's just a shitty fanfiction OC Gary Stu with no real character traits besides wanting to be Char. And Shuji is an absolute embarrassment of a character and his "relationships" with Machu and Nyaan are just nothing.

Instead, the only idea this anime has is to jingle the nostalgia keys at the audience and hope it distracts them from the dogshit writing and terrible pacing. It's just a fanfiction wankfest but without any real understanding of why these elements worked in the first place. Cyber Newtypes and the Psycho Gundma were thrown in one episode basically as a random cliff note, not because they served any purpose to this story but because it was a popular plot point in Zeta and ZZ: here, it's completely bastardised by the hack writers.

This anime stands for nothing and is nothing more than an absolute embarrassment. Pretty visuals and some good soundtrack is basically all it has going for it, because nothing else works.

we only got the voice of amuro ray for the finale damn but the gquux is amuro ray all along

kycillia dead too so no more dictators

and they just implied that artesia is the sister of char and she got a short screen time

char x lalah of this other side become romantic canon

machu x shuji happen too and they kiss but who the fuck is shuji is he really the son of lalah and char in yet another universe

machu and nyaan on the beach is sexy at least

but easily one of the best gundam show ive watch especially confirming the gundam multiverse or world lines or other sides

this gundam show is clearly plot and action driven and not character driven storytelling plus its open ending too

Watching the bona fide RX-78-2 hold its own in a 2v1 against contemporary mobile suits that sure made for a memorable final battle, especially with the contrast in designs.

I'm way more relieved than I should be about Conch surviving. Hope we get a Season 2!

Thanks to the references to the old Gundam series and the presence of some og characters, I was able to enjoy this series a little. Without the nostalgia aspect, it was generally bad. It probably would have been better with more episodes to develop the new characters or even the political battle between the Zabi factions.

I just hope Sunrise will focus on Hathaway now, or at least reboot F91 and adapt Crossbones Vanguard if they have time for other series.

This anime is literally not suitable for newcomers, this is just an absolute banger fanservice anime for the OGs, this series writing is eh to aight and being poorly paced and wasted pretty much 6 episodes, yea yea yea but whatever disregarding all that I don't care what anyone says but I don't think anyone (at least for me) can not get excited seeing the OG voice casts, OG soundtracks and ofc the mf White devil making in the finale. This was an absolute treat these past 12 weeks, just an unhinged fanfiction with expert directing that showcased so much adoration for the franchise but more importantly all the themes and concepts established in 079 but through an entirely different lens. Cramming 24 episodes worth of story in 12 episodes prevents it from being anything more than just pretty fun but I'm very happy we got to see an experiment as wild as this.

Franchises this old need stuff this unhinged and weird, gundam is a series that got so safe with its constant expys and copying tropes so its really funny that the one literally lifting characters and elements from 079 is one of the freshest and most out there. I definitely think time will be kind of this one when people stop trying to view it as anything other than a companion piece that doesnt mess with pre-established continuity.

Ngl, I don't know how I feel about this one.. I feel like Nyaan and Shuji were NOT FLESHED OUT AT ALL! And I kinda feel the same a bit with Machu as well even though she's suppose to be the MC. Like the trio dynamic with all 3 of them was super lame because of how we weren't really shown of them being "friends" ever.. just Machu and Nyaan simping over Shuji which was annoying asf. The story was fine, I'm not an OG Gundam fan so maybe it's better appreciated with them, but I just think the series would've been WAY BETTER without Nyaan and Machu going gaga for Shuji since he was always talking about "The Gundam is saying this and that" and we only had him for like 3 episodes with barely any screen time. It's just very frustrating that we didn't get to see any real dynamic between the trio or even duo for any of them. Nyaan had feeling for Shuji too but that was super irrelevant asf as that went no where, and Machu liked him as well, but WHY DID THEY LIKE HIM TO BEGIN WITH?! Idk, just the dynamic between all 3 were treated so stupidly imo. 5/10 as a whole ig.

This episode really embodies the entire show, especially in its second half: it's a nice-looking mess with writing all over the place, primarily carried by random references to old Gundam series and nonsensical dialogue.

I had moderate fun, but only because of old characters appearing in this new timeline (like Challia Bull), where Zeon won the war. The new characters, most of them anyway (including the main trio, lol), felt hollow. Their actions lacked the weight needed for me to care even a little about the "hype moments." If this wasn't a Gundam show and didn't heavily rely on nostalgia (which worked well in the first half, until the scenario seemed to become literally carried by Easter eggs), then wow, my rating would've been much, much worse, hah.

Overall, it was a pretty disappointing show. Same goes with the final episode (and I already had low expectations). GQuuuuuuX had huge potential that was kinda wasted. Like I said, I had moderate fun, but only because of the original UC timeline stuff or characters appearing or being referenced.

Remember kids. Just like in videogames, great graphics alone don't make a good game, same goes with anime with good art and animation but terrible terrible writing.

It was pretty laughable to see Machu & Shuu having their long verbal diarrhea in their personal kira-kira world as if we're supposed to care for such souless characters. Even more comical how the 2 ho*s that went thru all this nonsensical journey in the search for a guy, turned their backs on him just because the writing says so (like a lot of the continuity in events). Machu meet Lalah just for a few minutes or an hour tops and she immediately thinks her feelings are more important than anything. Nyaan being convinced to switch sides by Machu saying "pretty please" was equally cringe and hilarious.

Nothing outside of being reduced to "just magic" felt earned or well established regarding any of the walking plot device called Shuji, from snatching the OG mobile suit, to making it 10 times it's size to even the most basic common sense on characters surrounding him (like why did Char gave him his gundam, even if he allegedly was going to stay behind in order to build this doomsday device).

And of course, just like other cheap anime, a beach day to please the main horny fanbase was due.

If the rest of the "what if" entries in the Gundam universe are this bad (terrible writing just for the sake of jamming cameos) , I'm pretty much avoiding them at all cost and sticking with UC.

At least this shitshow, gave me a useful screencap that can be used against it and other cheap series.

@Atavistic The whole series it's "Did you see that we make a Gundam reference?" and then make another one, and another one...
I was happy when literally the Nu shows off in Unicorn as a cameo, because it was that, a cameo, fanservice done in a way that you can say "Hey! I get it!" but this... LMAO
I don't even know what's the plot or even the goal of Machu apart of "I want to see the sea"

I was trying to distance myself from preliminary opinions of the show and not judge it, hoping that maybe they'd turn it around into an just ok show. Nope they somehow made it worse in the last ep, it was written like an au fanfic trying to get nostalgia points while adding their shitty ocs and fan-canon into the mix. What an disappointing show that had a interesting premise but didn't do anything with it.

this was just a fanfic in anime form for the OG gundam fans, i think - a universe where Char left the fighting and was good to Lalah (at the end), and one where Zeon is victorious along with the aftermath. As someone that did not watch the original, this series just felt rushed and not very good. The other 2 "main characters" did not have any character development until these last 2 episodes and even then, it felt like we still did not really get to know more about Nyaan's character.

To sum up the story in the last episode (omitting the political stuff):

Whether you like it or not, can we all agree that it's the best decision to have NO sequel for GQuuuuuuX.

A disappointing, rushed waste of potential. Desperately needed 22 episodes, but still tried to condense 22 episodes of story into 12 and it shows. Oh, it shows. Completely sidelines the original characters and story to reference back to 0079 continuously. This team could've done so much better.

The anime was nowhere near perfect but it was fun to watch all the way through at the very least. Only other Gundam I have finished was the original and that one was way better (duh). Wish this anime was 24 episodes or two seasons at the very least. There's interesting stuff in here that never gets fully developed or explored it's a shame. Felt very rushed and all over the place.
Machu and Nyaan are...fine but Shuji is a nothing burger plot device sadly. Didn't become interesting until the last two episodes smh.
Best characters in this anime was Challia and Char tbh.

The fights in this episode were cool as fuck though. I laughed irl when Kycilia got headshotted by a bazooka again lmfao.
Cool to see Artesia run things and nice Ramba Ral cameo. Hoping Char and Lalah can be happy in this timeline. At least they stuck the landing on the ending
