Man, this anime sure likes to mess around with bizarre teases.

Kinda cute this episode did have some music elements added to it. They should've used that more throughout the season imo. I was expecting a big party for the season finale but the way this episode went gave an adventure vibe. This had more humor as usual but the relationship parts felt more open with the main cast. It was a fun ride overall imo, a very light show with humor.

It was a sweet finale in the end ig, with granny and all lol, but that still doesn't save the overall show for me. Idk, something about the way it's formatted that I just really can't get invested. The art style also doesn't help.

And the romance.. god the romance in this show is either nonexistent half the time, or when it is, it's some of the worst I've seen. And the main girl is just plain. Higa-san carried me to slog through the show every week. Still though, this was still 10x better than the Hokkaido one, 100%

But at least with the Hokkaido one, there was some things to make me want to go visit it one day, this show did the complete OPPOSITE, as I do NOT want to ever step foot in Okinawa if it is THIS complicated to understand.

The main finally starting to take notice of Kana hopefully something will happen between the two, Kana has been trying so hard.
And the misunderstanding from last week is solved tho i still wonder who the girl was.
Also a mention of the war, i heard people in Okinawa where treated pretty bad at that time so it's a good thing times changed.

Ah I’m gonna miss my weekly cultural lessons so much! Really nice final episode, we got a nice mix of Okinawan culture and an explanation about the link between Teeru, Kana and Hina! Still no clue as to who’s gonna win, but one things for sure, this trio is going to stay together for a long time.

I really enjoyed the musical lesson. Who would’ve thought that Okinawa even has a different melody chart than the rest of the world! It’s cool that the Kankara Sanshin was born out of the pain and suffering of WW2, leave it to Okinawans to make something so iconic out of a horrific period and turn it into a cultural symbol of pride!

SHAMAN KING REFERENCE! They even have shamans on this island, eh? The Kana and Hina backstory scenes are always so good, and now it makes a lot of sense why they gel so well with Teeru. They share an en(connection) and that’s for life.

This grew on me a lot over the last couple of months. Not an amazing show but it was fun! Kana best girl.

Somewhat bland conclusion given how last week left off, but overall I guess this is more in tune with how the show was for the majority, I.E: a roundabout ad for Okinawa filled with trivia. Was never really about the romance to begin with.

Damn, what a fake-out. They sure left us on a cliffhanger in the last episode, thankfully it was all a misunderstanding. Still, it was cute seeing Hina all flustered over the misunderstood confession. Teru needs to be careful and avoid other misunderstandings. I loved seeing Teru come to realize that he has possible feelings for Kana after they visited the yuta to try and check his “lost” mabui. Poor guy was even more spaced out after that small event and he can’t seem to get Kana out of his mind. The cutest part of the episode was the flashback to Hina and Kana’s first visit to the Obasan’s house where she revealed that one of them had a very strong “en” (connection) that was far away. Hina’s answer to them not knowing which one had the connection was perfect. Hina said it didn't matter which one it was “because if they're connected to you, then they’re connected to me! ‘Cause we’re friends forever!” Now that’s true friendship, and I hope it stands the test of time. I’m glad they closed the season on a high note and we still don't know who the lucky girl will be and that’s good. Let’s hope this gets a second season because this was a pleasant surprise anime for me this season. Here’s hoping for the best! 👍🏻👍🏻

FAKE OUT!!!!!! You Bastards!!!! Shoulda known Teeruu would not step up. Hiinaa choked a bit also. First misunderstanding her own cultural bit that the pattern only signified romance when given woman to man, and secondly not capitalizing on her situation to pounce on Teeruu. Bah all around.
Good Kaanaa first though of making sure her BFF was okay, rather than pouncing on her crush, Very virtuous.

"The melody of their souls is on sale?!"
Bargain souls for sale? Where? Want some.

Manga Brain

Nowhere near enough romance in the whole season. He did blush for Kaanaa a bit, indicating that side of the triangle may be scaling up.
And, I have to deduct 1/2 point for not showing us any tan lines on all those well baked bods.

That was all a misunderstanding from Hiinaa. Our boi, Teeruu, 's heart was swaying a bit by bit. So Kaanaa still had her chance, a big chance.

Twelve Kaanaa from twelve episodes.

Ah, yeah a confession was not bound to happen at all now, this seems like the kind of series where sicne that's not really the focus over the Okinawan facts they'd probably leave that for much later. Either way, I can't say I didn't enjoy it.

As a romcom it works mixing both customs and memos from local tradition with cute interactions from a love triangle. The presentation is on point with slick shots better than some current fantasy shows and the folk and sashin tuned songs from the soundtrack set the scene. But what I found the most rewarding were the backstory moments from Kaana and Hiina's childhood, showing how much they trust each and have grown together. It's both blessing and heartwarming for some scenes that might otherwise have to depend on Teruu who's not that interesting of a main character to be honest.

In any case, I don't hink this will get a second season but it was good while it lasted. It made other advertisement anime like Super Cub look bland.

What a rip-off! Even though I knew it would all end in a misunderstanding… well, maybe this will make Hina develop feelings for Teru.

The story behind the Kankara Sanshin was really interesting—an instrument that brought peace to people suffering after the war. But man, that old guy is one heck of a salesman—$40 for a stick and a can? 😅

Overall, it's a decent anime, very cute and relaxing, while offering insight into Okinawan culture. It's a little disappointing that the romantic moments didn't really develop, but that's to be expected from a cultural tourism anime. Still, I'm hopeful that there will be a second season, especially after they introduced the purple-haired girl in the previous episode.

It was an alright anime. You got what you expected, at the end of the day

I do wish the anime was shorter, like 10 episodes, and maybe make each episode like 10 minutes long, instead of the standard 20 minutes.

Male MC is alright to follow around, even if hes nothing special.

You really root for Kana, since shes very adorable and a beauty. Given, it makes no sense how she was crushing on a forgettable character like the male MC, SIMPLY BECAUSE HE GOT HER HAT!!!! LIKE COME ON!!!! A little more nuance would have been appreciated, for the way she was crushing on him, and not because of the dumb-hat.

With Hina clearly at a standstill recognizing love for the first time, the last time she's ever approached this is with her own grandparents...though from Teru, the minsa-weave handkerchief...is just a complimentary thing for the modern age, though old-timers will know it's a confession. Which...once again, this is yet a misunderstanding, but from Hina's end.

Yelp, to see a kunkunshi Sanshin music sheet as a "demonic spell" of sorts, it's interesting to know that even their integration of music is also quite different, and Kana can sure impress Teru with that. And while Sanshin are sure as expensive, making one (kankara) is easily worth for all the Okinawa tradition they've lived through, the good and bad. And with that being cheap to acquire and learn, the gateway to Sanshin music is pretty much there for everyone.

To think that mabui can attribute to one's personal life being, more than the Shaman King reference, it's all up to personal preference...though Teru thinking of shamans being manga-brained as such, seeking a yuta (which is close to a doctor/nurse, but more of a therapist) did help relieve some of the soul he's lacking. The two girls on the other hand, thinking about their "en" (connection or bonds), and certainly, meeting someone outside from the mainland (which is Teru) is a blessing for them to create a new connection.

Overall, this is certainly better than the last regionalized rom-com (Dosanko Gal) that we got, and is a lot more enjoyable in this state.

Really nice anime. I'm gonna miss my weekly Okinawan culture introduction.
The cliffhanger in the end of the previous episode turn out to be, once again, a joke, guess the romance isn't going to move forward. At very least, Teru finally noticed Kana!
I really like the music lesson scene, it is very sweet, and the fact that such a simple thing as self-made sanshin is connected to the post-war period is very symbolic.
Overall, a good episode and pretty sweet ending. Really hope for the second season.
So long, Okinawans!

3:50 You’ve gotta be kidding me 🤯🤣 really left us hanging last week on that cliffhanger just for it all to be a misunderstanding

8:30 Kana so cute here getting praised by Teeruu 🤭

12:00 yet another little Kana x Teeruu moment 🤭

16:40 and yet another! 🙌🏻 does Teeruu finally seem to have developed some feelings for Kana now tho? 👀

My 8th Winter 2025 anime finished! Wow, I am so happy I decided to pick this one up last second. Kana best girl man 🙌🏻 as soon as I read about her in the synopsis, I was hooked. Definitely did not disappoint. Very ambiguous ending there. Which of them was the Yuta Teacher talking about having some sort of special bond with Teeruu? 👀 all the Teeruu x Kana moments were amazing. Yae best wing woman. Hope this gets a season 2 🙏🏻 also I learned A LOT about Okinawa 🤣 I look forward to visiting there some day

Yeah nobody was particularly happy during that time when people were still dealing with the Great Depression and many countries and people in them getting killed and teenagers and men forced to go to war in the most fierce battle in the entire history of our world sure can not be a very pleasant time to live in especially our Koreans who were killed and r worded by the same Japanese.

Okay, Hina misunderstood Teru's gesture, although it is very interesting that the scene hints she might have some feelings for him.
But later on we get a short moment where Teru suddenly becomes very self-aware of Kana.
And to top it off, we have that flashback scene which teases us even more.
Basically, if we ever get a second season, we might go full love triangle mode after all haha.

A pretty solid conclusion to what ended up being a very good show.
By far one of the best series this season imo: a lot of hilarious scenes, quite a bit of learning (about okinawan culture and places and people), plus plenty of cute blushing Kana moments.
I really loved this one, I'm certain I'll rewatch it pretty soon to enjoy the ride once again :)

This anime was weaved like a minsa-charm... Ep 11 & 12 were really a joke on everybody who watched it for the plot. Neverthless I watched the entire thing with pleasure: nice bunch of facts about Okinawa told in a pleasant manner. If there is anything that stands out in the entire series though, it is a subtle mockery of the viewer. Really - if this is a 1-season anime - the last episode is hard to swallow as an ending...

It’s not over for us Higa bros yet! One of the few times I’m glad the cliffhanger was bait lol, but it was really sweet of Higa for her first response to that situation to be to help Kyan, they truly are best friends. Best bit of the episode had to be the Sanshin one imo, that is such a cool instrument, and the history associated with it really made that part for me, the old store owner watching the younger generation do as he did was very wholesome, these are good times indeed.

And the shaman part was a good way to end the show with Teruaki reflecting on his time in Okinawa, and for the first person he sees when he opens his eyes to be Higa… hopefully that means something! And the flashback bit directly after tied it all together perfectly, so that shaman from when Higa and Kyan were kids predicted that they would become so close with someone far away, I’m not one for spiritual stuff but I like how it’s used here.

And that was it for the Okinawa with a side of romance anime, I enjoyed the hell out of this, I’d say it was a tad bit better than the Hokkaido one despite it leaning more towards the SoL side than romance. And yeah, maybe Kyan was a weak romantic interest when Higa was right there and was the main source of romantic moments in the show, but I still really enjoyed Kyan as a character, her Uchinaaguchi was always fun to hear and she’s adorable in her own right, and really her existence is why Higa’s greatness was so prominent anyway, so maybe we should be thanking her lol. But that being said, Higa just solos man, the author really struck gold with her, I’m hoping there’s a reveal later on where she’s the true romantic interest, but for now I really appreciate her moments in the show. And that OP was so delightful and catchy, same with the EDs, but I’m glad they went with the original for the end, aka my favorite of the bunch, and with that I hope we get a Season 2 one day or maybe another SoL/Romance anime focused on one part of Japan, I’d really love that.

I've been 4 times to Okinawa and really enjoyed this show. Kaana is definitely the show's best girl. A great performance by Farouz Ai.
I knew a few of the cultural aspects of the show beforehand (like the sata andagi deep-fried buns; they're delicious), but there were many things I didn't know yet. All in all I quite enjoyed the relaxed athmosphere and likeable characters.

It's one of those anime whose original manga is still ongoing. I get that the ending can be disappointing to western viewers, but it's not a problem for japanese viewers because they just continue the story with the manga.

@phantomfandom They should have made 13 episodes so there's 69 Okinawa memos.

The true purpose of the show is as a tourist ad for Okinawa. I ain’t mad, it’s really well-done. Also want to point out how precious the friendship between Higa and Kyan is.

If they wanna advance the romance, there’s a potential S2 for that, perhaps. The best part for me is the gag and meta humor, best exemplified with the "The World" JoJo reference and the Yoh silhouette in this episode.

And I guess we now learned how Okkotsu Yuta got his name.

So, uh, how about that purple-haired girl with the suitcase who appeared in the previous episode? I wonder what her deal is. I'm almost tempted to read the manga.

I always tried to temper my expectations with all the cliffhangers in this show, but I was somehow tricked into thinking this one would be a bigger deal. To be fair, having that sort of romantic development with Hina out of nowhere in the final episode would be kinda nuts. It really feels like they've set her up as Teru's initial crush who'll become the supportive friend, while Kana gets all the usual romance anime tropes. Also, Teru's been blushing whenever he and Kana touch or get close to each other.

I'd been a bit curious about the music, so it's cool they mentioned the scale. Kinda funny that the BGM that plays immediately after that (and sounds to me like a sanshin) didn't follow that scale.

Anyway, really enjoyed this series. My only other exposure to Okinawa that I can think of is Yakuza 3, which didn't really go into the cultural or language differences. The extreme weather and car-centric lifestyle make me not want to live there, but it would be an interesting place to visit.
