Now I see how White King got fat...

This episodes follows up with the last one and Ouken's story.
I hope they continue to show more of it, because I'm really curious to see what will happen to Fren.

Continuing last week's Underworld story, brothers Desha and Despa try desperately to find a solution to relieve Ouken of the curse, though tha Underworld's laws will prohibit anyone to leave the city, such as with the case of Ouken's second-in-command Fren. Unfortunately, with his retaliation and servitude to the former prince, he fled the Underworld, only for the others to come to Despa to share their worries to get approval for venturing outside, and the 3 pals create a diversion to buy Fren some time before he gets captured back for execution from the Order. Well that was the plan, with Aban calling on the Captain to stage the execution on request from Despa, but not to mention his name about it. At the very least, Fren is still alive, and his cure goes one step further to find the exact demon...which is Miranjo, held in the Kingdom of Bosse, but that Fren dare not venture that far and face the music, and got away with being exiled out of the Underworld. The deed of friends will not be forgotten.

The Underworld's captain being tasked with taking care of Prince Despa's white horse Whiteking, and she's grown over-massed like a glutton to be able to do anything. But all that changes with a black male stallion that she's in love with, and works the grains to get back her original proud stance. Too bad that the male stallion already had a family, and Captain would take the beating whatever way he could.

Hokuro's backstory as a new recruit in the kingdom's forces, he was just a lowly servant at the time of King Bosse's passing, supporting Bojji when everyone else was cheering for Daida instead to be the next king. Instead, Prince Bojji is off to a journey, and despite everyone making a mockingbird out of him, Hokuro decides to go, but is cut short by Domas, which Queen Hiling overrules his plan and decides to bring the only person that knows sign language to communicate with Bojji.

Fren's story was good, Whiteking's obsession is funny, and Hokuro's story of beginnings, all for a decent bite-sized side story.

I'm very thankful these stories show us more about characters which didn't have the time to show in the first season. Seeing more of this underworld monster Fren has been really good. His close bond with the three princes especially Ouken is a big driving force in the first segment of this episode. We saw last episode how hurt Fren was seeing Ouken lose himself. After all they'd been through in the revolution it must've been tough for Fren seeing his close friend slip away. So its understandable that Fren will try to help Ouken himself. I didn't realize that underworld monsters couldn't leave the underworld but it makes sense considering most of them sided with the evil King in the war that Desha wouldn't want any running off. Fren is am exception however since he now only helped them win but cares about Ouken personally. I'm glad that the guard captain and even Desha made him a new deal to help find a demon head to free Ouken. The horse part of this episode was funny but short. I didn't know the horse named WhiteKing would be a girl, that was odd. The final part of this episode made me tear up. I always liked Hokuro in the first season as he cared about Bojji. Now seeing more of why he joined the royal guards and volunteered to help Bojji on his journey after seeing the treatment Bojji had gotten. Learning sign language to try and repay Bojji for the kindness he showed Hokuro was so sweet.

The story of the horse was hilarious whilst the first and third tales were quite emotional. This show has so much variety which is great.

I get why people may be upset that this season isn't a continuation of season 1's story, but I'm loving this so far. It feels so similar to the first half of season 1 before the story reached a point where I thought it lost itself. Hokuro's story was so wholesome it actually made me tear up a bit lmao.

this episode really gave the vibe of "working hard and showing hope pays off" and i loved that since all 3 of this week's stories really did give us somewhat happy endings even if we know everything was about to turn for the worse later down the line. anyways once again a 10/10

Wow that acting was so good I thought it was real...

Ahh and the scene when Desha told the "fake" Flynn to leave, I think that in the end, the three of them are indeed good people. It's really sad that Ouken had to get the curse.

Also, watching this episode reminded me that good things will always be repaid in the best way possible.

He actually doesn't want to kill him, and this part is not over yet, wonder why they failed saving Ouken in the end.

I haven't seen this side story anime so I'm curious why the ratings are so relatively low compared to the original anime? I loved the original Ranking of Kings and I personally would enjoy a series of SoL side stories. But the low 7 rating makes me wonder if the side stories are just not interesting or portrayed well in this anime?

Fren's a real.. friend to Ouken, he he :p. Man risked his life to find info about his curse.. his boys surely stepped in as well! Also Hokuro is a good man, Bojji is lucky to have him around.
