Lovely episode. Does anyone know who wrote music for this?
But if the arrow is straight
And the point is slick
It can pierce through dust
No matter how thick...

1st ep was really about 12 min long and then ep 2 is 24 min? :O

Ok so ep 2 was like a remake of ep 1, with the Ghibli artstyle I love.
The first part of it was so hilarious that tears just kept falling :D
The love story was nice.

I have a new appreciation for Dvorak's Humoresque now.
Such a tender and gentle song, perfect for depicting Nonaka's first love.
A good author leaves the audience enough material to be satisfied with, yet yearning for more.

The first episode was average at best, but this was unexpectedly heartwarming.

In my opinion the first part was quite bad, the atmosphere changed and the art style went from 2D to try making it look 2D CGI'ish. Although the second art was pretty good again!

In general a pretty solid 2 episode special with some fun and interesting art & music!

I know one of the songs in it was Humoresque by Dvorak. It played during the scene with Ai-chan and the guy.

Definitely way better than the first special! The first one was more of an unfinished storyboard that I was better off not watching.

The shorts managed to evoke various emotions well and with decent art too~

I agree with the previous posters that this episode is better than the last. Definitely has more soul and personality to it. Makes the characters more appealing. Not sure how I feel about that dancing scene. xD

Man, if someone held me back on the train, I would have slapped them awake (ok not really). =/ Missing the stop is serious business.

Favorite Parts:

The animation of the intro. Smart idea.

The curry looking like lava.

How the lady won and blasted to the sky. xD

The childhood love story. We need more stories like this!

I like the mermaid guy. x) So cute.

The curry story and the train story were great. The rest, not so much. Altogether better than the first ep though.

Ends with a "To be continued."

Well that was a lie. Wonder why they never did any more.

So they drew the mouth for the pig-nosed character after all

What was a military plane doing in such a cute short?

Anyway, I expected something like Eizouken in terms of *content*, but it's more like a slice-of-life spin on the Yamadas (not surprising given Hisaichi Ishii's involvement, as well as Yoshiyuki Momose being the overall director). Very pleasing to the eye, and heartwarming to watch. Wish there was more. Some techniques used in Ghiblies can't be seen in other Ghibli works, I think.

P.S. It's not even necessary to be aware of Ghibli at all to watch this, though.

P.P.S. Of course Ohira got to animate the awesome dance scene!

Yukari is a champ, the way she went down on the level10 curry is something else. The thing looked like hot lava, hell no🤯

My favorite part had to be the train incident, I think the girl fancied Nonaka or she was messing with him. Either way, it was funny because it can happen in reality. I hate those people who sleep on other's shoulders on trains.

This was better than the previous, but I still expected a lot from ghibli in terms of animation and delivery. Considering they're GOATs of anime, this was mediocre at its best.
