Irumyuui is a human right? So if they eat Irumyuui's babies, does that mean they've eaten humans? Or are the babies not human? Well they do look like... rabbits? but.. uuuh... whatever it is it's still very scary. I don't know about Wazukyan but I honestly salute Vueko, in the midst of all the bad things that were going on she was forced by circumstances to eat the child of someone who thinks of her as a mother figure in order to survive and help the others.

Sorry for thinking this way but why does it seem like they brought Irumyuui with them and fed her just to eat her babies in the end.. I know they didn't know about the egg before but yeah I have mixed feelings. This is just too sad.

The more she drank, the more she shat, but the more she shat, the thirstier she grew, and her thirst sent her crawling to the stream to suck up more water.

Wow damn... I was pretty desensitized to the gore and body horror, but granting the kid's wish to have kids endlessly, and then having those "babies" starve to death within a day and also be an endless supply of food that cured the water disease? Damn. The abyss just knows how to create some multi-layered levels of diabolically fucked up stuff.

one of the deeper and more interesting episodes I've seen. anime usually doesn't go this deep.
it wasn't with the spirit of the show, more worked like a story of its own, but it was damn interesting

I've been waiting since the season premiere to get Vueko's & the Ganja's backstory, I even remember commenting that I was a bit disappointed that the first episode shifted directions back towards the main trio, I wanted to see the series fully commit to this seeming side-story. But obviously the placement here works me, people talked about some scene shifting from the manga adaption, I have no idea on that, but giving us the first taste in the premiere and waiting until halfway through to delve into the origins was a smart choice. If the manga didn't start with that teaser & just adapted the full backstory from this point in the story, I think the anime made a really good change here. It helped carried the intrigue for the in-between episodes to already know context Vueko, Belaf, Irumyuui, & Wazukyan. Added a lot of mystery & anticipation for the origin reveal as we're feed more information about how the Sages ended up. I haven't talked about the last batch of episodes, but I've enjoyed them for the most part, with the intrigue of "what happened" & "how this came to be" being one of the strongest elements. Outside of the growing obsession of fecal matter stuff, the only other thing I haven't really enjoyed as of late is Mitty's return into the fold. While it does showcase the Village's powers, it does feel a tad dramatically cheap to bring Mitty back into the fold but whatever.

Anyway, this episode did what I requested earlier and focused entirely the Ganja, I even love them forfeiting the OP for a simple title card instead. Surely a decision made to fit this entire section into a singular episode, apparently they had to also sacrifice lesbian sex so clearly their was a time concern, but I think getting rid of the more upbeat OP helped this episode keep a pervasive foreboding & ominous tone. At the core, this episode really showed the immense struggle of survival in unknown lands, where even securing safe water to drink can seem like an insurmountable task. The damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario they found themselves with the water is a horrible one for sure, and Irumyuui of course goes through her own unending nightmare as a solution. As messed up as the solution is, I appreciate how it's all built up throughout the story. We've know about her inability to give birth since the first episode of the season, we saw the journey with the pets, and we of course understood enough about the issues plaguing the Ganja. If the climax of the story is going to be incredibly fucked, I appreciate that it's built up upon multiple elements ranging from character motivations to the established world-building, makes it feel less like edgy gratuity when it's well-structured into the plot.

Arguably this is all still a bit gratuitous regardless. Do we really need to see the diarrhea and the touching/inspection of such? Probably not, and while it's a disgusting inclusion, I do think there's some level of value for having a series incorporate these elements that would often be disregarded, even if they are a likely symptom. Even if there's a fetishistic angle to it's inclusion, it's still effective way to unabashedly showcase just how horrific this expedition could be. I don't want other series to start including this, and I'd prefer if excrement stuff like this was saved solely for instances like this rather than also being used as like comic relief with Riko's bathroom problems, but regardless, I think in this circumstance it works.

I'd be lying if I said this episode truly disturbed or horrified me or anything like that, but it definitely captivated me the entire time. And with all the comments hinting towards much worse to come, I look forward to seeing how this finds an even darker shade of black, and if that darkness will affect me the way this seemed to for many. I would probably highlight this as my favourite episode of the season, so I'm excited to see finish the story of the Ganja and the origins of the village.

Did they eat Irumyuui's children? Did they eat Irumyuui herself? Yes, this anime is descending more and more into a nightmarish realm the deeper they descend the Abyss.

Finally, the backstory! As expected, the story is quite interesting. I can't wait to find out more!
My bro Kevin did a perfect job with the OST! Did I understand correctly that what they were eating was made from the dead children of Irumyuui?
We received another lesson about the importance of our desires and the weight they carry.

I was a bit let down by Bondrewd's arc, which people were hyping up to be really f-d up, but this arc definitely delivers on my previous expectations (and even more) about how dark this story is going to get.

Wow! What a bunch of disgusting, pointless, aggravating, unrewarding, ugly, irrational, dead-end TRASH. This anime went from almost brilliant in season 1, to absolute dog-shit in season 2. I wish the worst on the creators, figuratively.

So, is Meinya a surviving child of Irumyuui? Little guy looks exactly like one of the first children, and we haven't seen any other animals like Meinya. Is it possible that one survived and ended up in the village along with all the people, then later has been traded to Bondrewd?

Seeing them struggle to survive in the golden city and succumbing to illness was a little disturbing but it made for a great episode.
I’m glad we got to see more of three sages’ origin story.

At first I thought those puddles and stains were urine, but it was even worse. Not the sort of anime you watch while you're eating, for sure.

Apparently the broth that the disease victims, including Vueko, were eating uses Irumyuui's dead children as ingredients. If it weren't for the fact that Irumyuui herself is seemingly stuck in an endless cycle of misery in her already deformed, sedentary state, then it'd be a hopeful solution to everything; she's a martyr for the people, though a tragic one.

I continue to feel physically and emotionally appalled by this Show and feel like at this point I am just watching to see how messed up it ends up. And that's getting progressively more difficult.
It gives a "author has some issues"-vibe.

My personal head canon is that Irumyuui wished that all her wishes would come true which is why the egg fused with her and eventually turned her into that abomination she would later become, probably a result of the wish granting relic constantly granting her wishes nonstop.

Also, the part where Irumyuui tells Vueko she smells just like her mother (someone who mates a lot) is SO messed up considering Vueko's backstory...
