Excluding season 3.2 -which has not ended yet- which one of the previous seasons -in your opinion- was the best and why?

I'll have to give it all a re-watch at some point, but season 1 is still my favourite at the moment. It has so many great moments, with the female titan fights being the highlight.

I think that Season 1 was the best. After that, it was a downward decline, but after Season 3 Part 2 finishes airing, it will definitely be my favorite.

Season one was my favorite season and at least on pair with the current one imo. Great survival and mystery aspects, but also many shocking twists and awesome fights as well. Episode 13 and 21 are among the best episodes I've ever seen.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

the OST of that arc was over the top.

I didn't like season 1, it was too slow, seemed like too much hype for nothing. Season 2 was slightly better but it felt like there was too much info dump. I also didn't like main characters so the focus switch to other characters was good. The 3d season was the best in terms of pacing and it actually got me interested in the story at last. But I might rewatch all of it with different perspective as I actually like the whole story now.

I showed the clip where the Rogue Titan punches the Female Titan so hard that the female Titan's head and the Rogue Titan's arm flies off to so many just for how absurd it is.

The first season drew me in and got me hooked, the second was quite wonderful and perfect in it's own unique way, the third with it's conspiracies, intrigues and human versus human action was a nice change of pace, and so far 3.1 has been EPIC in unbelievable ways. They all get a 10 score from me, one of the best series EVER.

None of them are really good, I respect the animation and music but for the story I don't really..
Although if I didn't get spoiler before, maybe I would be thrilled with the revelations in S2..

Season one is the best. Great direction, very good action, fantastic ost and dark atmosphere of survival horror, that’s what makes this season so special.

Season 2 was good too focusing much more on character development and revealing some of the mysteries, but the pacing was sometimes too slow.

Season 3 part 1 IMO is the worst season. I don’t mean that season 3.1 is bad, but the pacing was too fast, directing was unstable, use of OSTs was sometimes strange and unsuitable. However, the plot and character development are still great, some episodes was fantastic and there is best action scene in franchise in episode 2 of this season.

Season 3 part 2 potentially will be the best season, because there are a lot of awesome staff on this season.

Season 2 is my favorite among the three. It has the best direction imo. Greatness from the beginning of the season to the end, the revelation was handled perfectly, the soundtrack fits perfectly, the action scenes are great, the mystery is also great and it also focused on one of the most interesting character in the series which is Reiner.

i think the seasons fit too well together as 1 continuous story. Trying to figure out the best season doesnt make much sense to me.
season 1 is the only one that can stand alone because obviously nothing came before it. The other 2 build off of it plot wise, but maintains the quality and aesthetic.

I had problems with the pacing and characterizations in S1. I actually dropped the show after it. Then, reluctantly picked up S2 (I thought to watch something mindless after the heaviness of Mushishi), only to be pleasantly surprised with the development of the secondary characters. The scene at the Wall was the point when the show cemented itself as a masterpiece for me. So my favourite? Season 2 by far.

I refuse to call the current season “Season 3 part 2”....

Fuck that shit, it’s Season 4, I don’t care!

And not including season FOUR...Season 1 is #1, mostly due to how big the hype was, the number of episodes, and just how everything was new to the viewers.

But I ultimately think Season FOUR will win.

Season one was fun, but had a fillerish/anime only way of handling the annie and eren fight that I wasnt a fan of.
Anime season one Eren: Hesitates throughout most of the fight and then goes extremely edgy compared to his manga counterpart on annie.

Manga Eren: Transforms right away and charges her, while maintaining a level of a cool head doing so.
So season one is my least favorite cause of that ,the female titan arc also went on for way too long, they could of made some scenes shorter.

Season 2 stayed true to the manga more than season 3 part 1 did,and its where you start to notice the shift in the story early on, so I still enjoy it as my second favorite.
Meanwhile, the entirety of season 3 has to be my favorite season, a lot hated there was no titan battles in the first half, but I thought it was a nice change of pace, just titan battles over and over would get repetitive fast.

S3.1 was the best in terms of story and characterization. The developement was great. I really liked how the mysteries have been started to unfold in various aspects. The pacing of the whole 3rd season is on point. As for the fights, S1 was the most thrilling part.

For me is still, Season 3 Part 1, is a different season than the previous ones, it's more strategic, slow-paced, but still amazingly interesting, i feel Eren has REALLY been developed this season, and i don't know if i can separate Part 1 from Part 2, but i think Part 1 is still better than Part 2 so far.

Personally, Season 1 is at least as good as this arc. It knew how to told a story by making the audience really care about Eren's revenge, using the horrors of the titans to increase tension, subtlety creating a lot of mysteries on this world, foreshadwing stuff without giving them away and all that without losing it's epicness (It's legit the most epic show I've seen).

Season 2 lost it's momentum on the Utgard castle arc, but quickly came back with Colossal and Armoured titan reveal. The last couple of episodes were great, but didn't quite live the Season 1 hype

Season 3 pt1 made some mistakes in terms of storytelling in a few times, so I can definitely say it was the "least great" arc

It got better with every season while season 1 was a bit boring and only 7/10 for me since I knew the manga already and therefore there was a lot of surprises from the plot that weren't that interesting when experiencing them again in animated form. Especially with the pacing being a bit slower.

Starting season 2 it got good and season 3 is even a lot better. (Better arc.) Season 3.2 which I liked less in the manga ... is the best so far. In animated form this is really better because the pacing and atmosphere was good in the anime - so far.

3) Season 2 (9.25/10)
4) Season 3 Part 1 (8.80/10)

Female Titan Arc is my favourite arc of the series, by quite the distance too, and I’ve always been beat as to why people usually dislike that arc. I’m referring to the anime version by the way which managed to make the experience a once-in-a-lifetime treat!

I’ve rewatched the entire franchise (except for the OVAs and the side-stories) and the Female Titan remains my favourite. I enjoyed Season 3 Part 1 more during my first watch though but it changed to Season 2 overtaking Season 3 Part 1 during the rewatch.

People disliked it because the pacing was not the best in the first season overall, recaps included, and the anime transformed Eren into super saiyan during the last episode while fighting the female titan, a random power up that wasn't even in the manga and that put everybody in fear that it wouldn't have a sequel for modifying the canon with a more-or-less anime original ending segment that suddenly (only intensified that feeling because of the 4 years production pause).

Pacing issue was more relevant for me during the first half and I’m aware of the anime-original bit in the end. It wasn’t nearly as bad as people make it though and the prospects of a sequel was already confirmed right after the final episode by the Producer of the show himself. Recap Movie 2 perfectly tied up the knot by continuing just fine from the manga but I suppose I get your point about the 4 years pause. Sad that it all comes down to the timing.

I know right, the exact same occurred with me too! Once you’ve learnt more about the titans and such, you begin to appreciate the role that Season 2 played in instigating some of the greater mystery. Or so it felt like to me.

I honestly wasn't particularly bothered by it tbh, and the pacing was not horrible either, it was slightly slow, and to me I rather have it like this with a great adaptation, then having it otherwise being rushed.

I was just giving the explanation as to why, since that was the general consensus for a while (the other complainings being "just how overrated it is for being so popular even though X anime I like is better", which I tend to ignore, and some complains about underdevelopment of settings and characters, which are justified given just how early in the story the series still was (and we did get a lot of that from season 2 and above anyway).

You can only really give the first season proper value in a rewatch/reread of the later arcs anyway, it's actually unfair to judge it standalone and not as a piece of a bigger puzzle.

Yup, I totally agree! Something about the slow adaption made it really ideal for our Director to expand upon and in doing so making an amazing atmosphere to boot! Also, you’re absolutely right on the mark with the ‘it’s actually unfair to judge it as a stand-alone and not as a piece of a bigger puzzle’. Shingeki no Kyojin’s greatest strength has in fact been the buildup in the mystery with the exhilarating action and the character developments following up right after and just going through the material again makes you realise just how far humanity has actually come! Sword Art Online: Aliciazation is actually well received thanks to this particular progression where we, the viewers, are learning about the world and it’s consequences along with the characters of the show from zero to a hundred.

Right, I’ve heard of complaints along those lines and it always gets me a little disappointed and ticked off. It is justified due to the long time span, thanks Wit I suppose, but I wish people would understand a little more about the circumstances but well that’s probably asking a bit too much. Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2 seems to be doing a fabulous job at rekindling some of it’s lost praise and hype and this is probably the most important matter for the show so very glad to see that!

Sorry for the long endless rant!
