Top 20 Anime Songs 2010
Anime Relations: Bakemonogatari, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Nodame Cantabile Finale, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, Seikon no Qwaser, Katanagatari, Durarara!!, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin, Kaidan Restaurant, Mitsudomoe, Shiki, Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi, K-On!!, Highschool of the Dead, Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai, Shinryaku! Ika Musume, Toaru Majutsu no Index II, Yume-iro Pâtissière SP Professional
Okay, so I’m a little late with this again, but at least I’m not as late as I was with my 2009 Song List. I didn’t get that one out until October 2010! So yeah, I’m half a year earlier this time! Anyway, again, I watched a good portion of the anime that came out last year and like last year’s list opening, ending and insert theme songs are eligible as long as it played sometime during the year 2010. And again, it’s only one song per show. As last time, it’s a 20 song list with nice little YouTube inserts, although after doing last year’s list and trying to find the videos for this list, I’m really starting to hate YouTube more and more. I had to replace videos 8 times from last year’s list and looking at it now there are 3 videos that aren’t working right now. >_< (don’t know if I’ll bother trying to replace them anymore at this point) And man, some of the videos on this list were hard to find! But anyway, enough of the mini-rant. Here’s the list:

Dez and I are doing our best to stay caught up with the Winter 2011 season of anime and catch up with everything we’ve fallen behind on, but it’s March now. April and the start of the Spring 2011 season is just around the corner! So a whole new set of anime is on the horizon for us to check out and decide what we’ll watch and what we’ll pass on. In the past couple of years it has seemed like there hasn’t been as much anime each season as before. But that is not the case with the Spring season. Anime has come back in full force! So here I am to make a list of all of the shows under consideration this season to take up our watching time. Now, this is a lot of anime, but it’s not even everything. I left out some things like sequels to stuff we haven’t seen and stuff we definitely won’t be interested in like Yu-Gi-Oh! and such. But anyway, here is the list:
And that’s it! So we have 31 shows to choose from?! Crap. Of course, some of them we won’t even try and a number of them probably won’t make the cut, but even if we like half of the shows, that’s a lot of anime to keep up with. Especially since we’re still trying to catch up on the current season and a few shows from last season. But I’m sure it will work out somehow. I’m looking forward to seeing some new stuff. ^_^

Top 20 Manga to Finish
Anime Relations: Akira, Tenshi Kinryouku, Fruits Basket, Tsubasa Chronicle, Mushishi, Chocotto Sister, Sugar Sugar Rune, Nodame Cantabile, Detroit Metal City, Toradora!, Ga-Rei: Zero
I have a horrible anime backlog. By ratio I have an even worse manga backlog with nearly just as many titles On-Hold as I have Completed. And sadly more than half of the titles in my Reading and On-Hold categories have finished publishing. So this is pretty much a list of my personal top 20 manga that I need to go ahead and finish reading.
20. Batting Female Doctor Saori
Starting off with something that’s pretty obscure. A series about a female doctor who beats up her patients to cure them. Pretty amusing and it turns out that it is finished with only 2 manga volumes. I should just finish this thing off.
19. Chocotto Sister
A little less than a year ago I finally got around to watching the anime version of this series which was On-Hold for a while with only one episode watched. Now I should get around to doing the same thing for the manga. I really like the manga art a lot more, anyway.
18. Tokyo Akazukin
This weird disturbing series depicting a very twisted version of Little Red Riding Hood held my interest from the first chapter well enough that I decided to import all four volumes of the series. Sadly, I’ve still only read that first chapter.
17. Akira
One of the most well known anime movies back in the 90’s, I’ve always wanted to read the original source. Again, I’ve only read the first chapter.
16. Sugar Sugar Rune
A very interesting take on the magical girl sub-genre. I’ve read two of its 8 volumes so far. The rest lay unread on my shelf.
15. Girlfriend
One of my earliest scanlation reads, two out of the five volumes of this interesting almost-hentai series have been read so far.
14. Land of the Blindfolded
I read the first volume of this nice shoujo series a long time ago, like about 8 years ago. I borrowed it from the library and really liked it but never got around to reading any more. After it was announced that CMX was going down, I decided to go ahead and get all 9 volumes of the series. Still need to actually read them.
13. Heaven!!
Why the hell have I only read one of the three volumes of this short series when I have the whole thing on my shelf in English just waiting for me? I have no idea. I loved Power!! and really want to read more from its creator. Too bad Love Attack may never be finished in English. >_<
12. Nodame Cantabile
Another series whose future in the English language is uncertain. Nodame was one of the few series that I’ve actually been able to read and keep up with every time I got a new volume in English. But sadly Del Rey began delaying the series heavily and now that they’ve handed most of their titles over to Kodansha USA there has been no word on if they will be continuing the series, from what I remember. So yeah, maybe I’ll have to start picking this up in scanlation. -_-
11. Fruits Basket
I got a little more than half way through this 23 volume series before I ended up putting it On-Hold. It’s on my shelf just waiting for me like so many other manga.
10. Dragon Head
Here’s another series that I read from the library (the first two volumes this time) and ended up buying later so that I can read it all. Again, I haven’t even started reading my books.
9. Angel Sanctuary
Much like Fruits Basket, I read half of Angel Sanctuary before it went On-Hold.
8. SWWEEET
It’s only 2 volumes!! I really should knock this series out. Even worse, I actually did copy editing for the scanlation of the first volume released by Kotonoha.
7. Nononono
Holy crap Nononono is finished?! I didn’t even know that until I was going through my list today to see what I should finish! Glad it didn’t go on forever. I wonder what the man behind Elfen Lied will be doing next?
6. Detroit Metal City
Go to DMC! I started reading a good amount of this series with the scanlations but now I’m buying it in English. Volume 8 of 10 is due out in March so I’ll probably just finish the series in English as it finishes.
5. Yumihari
Poor Yumihari. Such an unloved series. The series started in 2005 and wasn’t added to the database until last year. And it’s actually finished at four volumes but no one has updated it on the page. Personally I love Hitoshi Tomizawa’s stuff, but it seems like a lot of people don’t. Anyway, Yumihari was a casualty of Web Comic GENZO and I’m not sure if anyone ever cared enough to do a scanlation of what wasn’t released in English. Makes me sad.
4. Ga-rei
Ga-Rei: Zero was a pretty good anime and I wanted to continue the story. So far the original manga has been pretty cool.
3. Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE
This is a bit of a tough one. I was reading Tsubasa as it came out back when its release first started. But as I read I realized that there were references to a lot of CLAMP series that I hadn’t read yet so I was going to try to read all of CLAMP’s old manga before I would continue with Tsubasa. I got one or two volumes into RG Veda and fell behind. Pretty sad. So this spot isn’t just for Tsubasa, but for every CLAMP manga I haven’t finished which came before it. And with xxxHolic ending now that might as well be part of this, too. =P
2. Mushishi
Mushishi is a wondrous and beautiful series. Since it ended I’ve been trying my best to read it whenever I can. It has become my official travel manga for whenever I’m flying somewhere or whatnot. But I’ve still only finished the first 4 volumes? Lame.
1. Toradora!
And my number one isn’t even technically manga!! I’ve been wanting to read all of the original Toradora! light novel series ever since I started watching the anime. I need to know the author’s original ending to my number three favorite anime!!
And that’s it! Hope you enjoyed my little list. Laters!

Top 10 Least Favorite Anime Other People Love
Anime Relations: Beck, Fullmetal Alchemist, Blood+, Speed Grapher, Death Note, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch, Lucky☆Star, School Days, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2, Seitokai no Ichizon, 11eyes
Okay, so this is something of a weird list, I guess. I tried to think of a shorter title for it, but that was the best title I could come up with. Sorry! =P
Anyway, this is basically a list of shows which other people tend to like a lot more than I did. Now I guess I could have called this my “Top 10 Most Overrated Anime” list but that doesn’t really fit very well with all of these, and calling them “overrated” would just be based on my own personal opinion. So beside each anime title are two numbers in parenthesis. The first number is the rating I gave the show and the second is the average MAL rating when I started writing this. The differences in scores are just here for reference. They’re not the end-all-be-all decider of where a show ends up on the list (if that was the case 11eyes would be #1 by a landslide). I’ll explain why each show is on the list where they are each individually.

Favorite Characters - Quick Update
Anime Relations: Genshiken, Great Teacher Onizuka, Shakugan no Shana, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Black Lagoon, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Genshiken OVA, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Toradora!, Toaru Majutsu no Index, Bakemonogatari, Kimi ni Todoke, Katanagatari
Okay, so just like my last "Quick Update" for my favorite anime series, the AoD forums have now spawned a quick update for my favorite characters. First, AoD now has a Favorite Female Anime Character thread. Now since seven of my top ten characters on my profile are girls, this isn't much for new info. But nonetheless, here are my current top 10 favorite female characters:
1. Aisaka Taiga (Toradora!)
2. Sonozaki Mion (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
3. Nagato Yuki (The Melanchololy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
4. Senjougahara Hitagi (Bakemonogatari)
5. Shana (Shakugan no Shana)
6. Suzumiya Haruhi (The Melanchololy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
7. Misaka Mikoto (Toaru Majutsu no Index)
8. Kanzaki Urumi (Great Teacher Onizuka)
9. Ogiue Chika (Genshiken OVA)
10. Kuronuma Sawako (Kimi ni Todoke)
Got a little shaken up from my 2009 List, but not too much. Now AoD also has a Favorite Male Anime Character thread. I've been wanting to do a favorite guy list for a while, but haven't really had the time. The favorite character list on my profile only has 3 guys on it so having this top 10 is a little more relevant:
1. Kyon (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
2. Yasuri Shichika (Katanagatari)
3. Itoshiki Nozomu (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei)
4. Takasu Ryuuji (Toradora!)
5. Araragi Koyomi (Bakemonogatari)
6. Onizuka Eikichi (Great Teacher Onizuka)
7. Okajima "Rock" Rokuro (Black Lagoon)
8. Maebara Keiichi (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
9. Madarame Harunobu (Genshiken)
10. Kamijou Touma (Toaru no Majutsu no Index)
That was a bit harder to make than the girl list because I don't really have that many guy characters I really like. I had about five more characters in the running for my list when I was coming up with people. I'd probably have to scrape pretty deep to make a full top 25 list.
Anyway, that's about it with me right now. Not much else going on. Just trying to catch up on this anime season and get ready to move. Dez and I actually watched 7 episodes of anime last night! Pretty awesome. Tomorrow I have the day off from work so I'll try to finish packing most of my stuff. ^_^

Top 20 Anime Songs 2009
Anime Relations: Bleach, Cencoroll, Soul Eater, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei, Toradora!, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2009), Toaru Majutsu no Index, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, Bakemonogatari, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuuutsu, Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, Higashi no Eden, GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class, Basquash!, K-On!, Kanamemo, Seiken no Blacksmith, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Yeah, so it might be kind of late, but I’ve wanted to do a favorite anime songs list for 2009 for a while now. I watched a lot of anime in 2009. I was still running my anime screenings at Holloman at the beginning of the year and I watched nearly every single show from the Summer and Fall seasons. So I in effect also heard a lot of anime theme songs. That brings us back to me wanting to make a list of all of my favorites. On this list opening, ending and insert theme songs are eligible. And the song must have played during the year 2009 to be on the list. So if it didn’t have an episode premiere on TV with the song or if the movie or OVA with the song wasn’t released in 2009, it won’t be on the list. I’m also limiting it to only one song per show. There are 20 songs on the list, and here they are with nice little YouTube inserts:

Top 25 Anime Series - Quick Update
Anime Relations: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Black Lagoon, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, Clannad: After Story, Toradora!, Bakemonogatari, Katanagatari
Recently the AoD Top 10 Anime Thread has been revived. With that, I ended up revising my top 10 favorite anime series a bit. And since my old Top 20 Anime Series List is a little over a year old now, I figured I'd do a quick update. Not much has changed in the list. I ended up expanding it to a Top 25 and with that nothing from the old list dropped off, although some shows dropped quite a number of places in the standings. Also, no big explanations of the each show this time around. Just a quick list. And I decided to just start at #1 this time instead of doing it countdown style. Anyway, here's the list:
1. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
2. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
3. Toradora!
4. Black Lagoon
5. Bakemonogatari
6. Haibane Renmei
7. Gurren Lagann
8. Azumanga Daioh
9. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
10. Kimi ni Todoke
11. Shakugan no Shana
12. Kaleido Star
13. Genshiken
14. Baccano!
15. Cowboy Bebop
16. Nodame Cantabile
17. Outlaw Star
18. Moyashimon
19. Neon Genesis Evangelion
20. Elfen Lied
21. NANA
22. Zero no Tsukaima
23. Paranoia Agent
24. Sora no Woto
25. RIN ~Daughters of Mnemosyne~
This is also becoming something of a schedule of anime that I am showing to my girlfriend Dez. We have already watched Haruhi and Toradora! together and are currently watching Higurashi Kai. That means Black Lagoon is up next on the list. Although a friend is currently barrowing my DVD's of the series so we might just skip to Bakemonogatari if he doesn't get those back to me soon. We'll see. And it's actually our 4th month anniversary today so Happy Four Months Dez! I love you lots and lots! ^_^
Well, looks like this might be the list for a while. Only series so far that I think might have a really good chance to break into the list next year is probably Katanagatari. I'm really enjoying the series a lot. Clannad might make it up there too whenever I get around to watching the second season. Maybe I'll re-watch season 1 with Dez and then go into the second. There are also a crap ton of movies and OVA's that I'd like to watch with my girl (in no real order):
We should just watch a bunch of those together so we can actually have an Anime Compatibility rating with each other. I'm thinking we need at least 15 things together, maybe. That was enough to give me a rating with Bulatao. We have 10 things in common and rated on our lists right now, but I guess that isn't enough.
Anyway, that's all for now. Laters!
1. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Laters!

1 Week, 2 Wonderful Licenses
As far as anime goes, this past week has been great to me! One week ago, NIS America announced that it was entering the realm of anime localization in the US with Toradora as one of their first releases! Toradora is my current number three favorite series, only surpassed by Suzumiya Haruhi and Higurashi. For nearly a year it had been my number 1 top priority for anime that I wish to see licensed for release in the US. And now that wish has finally been granted!
But that wasn't all! Another one of my favorite anime series, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, was just confirmed to be licensed for US release by Media Blasters! It's almost unreal! You see, on the Anime on DVD forums they have an ongoing thread called AoD's Most Wanted - License Wish List. On it members of the forum can post lists of their top 10 most wanted anime licenses and the results are calculated to make a master list with the top 25 put on the top post. Ever since April 13th, 2009 this had been my list:
1. Toradora!
2. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
3. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
4. Shakugan no Shana II
5. Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu
6. Moyashimon
7. Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuuutsu
8. Nodame Cantabile
9. Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi
10. To Aru Majutsu no Index
I felt that it was such a solid list that I didn't need to update it until something on the list got licensed. And it took almost a year for that to happen. But I was very happy that the one to get pulled from the list was my number 1. And not only that, but one week after the Toradora announcement, my number three, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, was also confirmed. Ahhh, such a great week for my anime loves. This totally makes up for the fact that I've been sick since Monday. I feel like I'm finally getting over it now, though. I should be back to normal tomorrow.
So now that I have two things from my list licensed, what does my top 10 look like now?
1. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
2. Bakemonogatari
3. The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya
4. Shakugan no Shana II
5. Kimi ni Todoke
6. Moyashimon
7. Nodame Cantabile
8. Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi
9. To Aru Majutsu no Index
10. K-ON!
After the Toradora license I decided to make a few changes other than just replacing the void. Bakemonogatari filled in the empty spot, but I also replaced Haruhi-chan with the new Haruhi movie because I really want to see that thing as soon as possible and I replaced Nogizaka Haruka with Kimi ni Todoke after season two of Haruka was a little disappointing. And after Zetsubou Sensei I just shifted everything up and had K-ON! take up the rear.
And once again I'm very satisfied with this list and don't plan on updating again until something else gets licensed. Hopefully it won't take too long. For those who didn't know, the reason I say Media Blasters "confirmed" the Zetsubou Sensei license instead of saying they "announced" it is because it has been rumored for a while that they got the license and they just confirmed it today by giving the first volume a May release date. Now the thing about the rumor is that Zetsubou Sensei wasn't the only show that was a part of the rumor. Moyashimon, which is also on my list, was also said to have been licensed by Media Blasters. Hopefully we may hear release plans for that next month?
Well, I'm just glad that there is anime coming out again that I'm really excited about. ^_^

Top 25 Anime/Manga Girls (2009)
Anime Relations: Toradora!
Nearly 4 years ago I did a list of my Top 25 Favorite Anime/Manga Girls on another otaku themed social site. I’ve seen and read a lot since I made the December 2005 List so I thought I should update it. Only 9 girls came back from the old list. And this list is actually already a little outdated because it doesn’t have one of my newest favorite girls, Senjougahara. But oh well. Maybe I’ll redo the list again a year from now. Anyway, here’s the list with a nice little handpicked picture for each girl:

Top 20 Anime Series
For my first blog post on this site I figured I’d make a detailed top 20 anime series countdown. If you looked at my profile, you have already seen my five favorite anime listed there but they’re not in order and such a short list doesn’t really do justice for someone with over 400 anime in his “Completed” list. For my list these are all series meaning they include all of the seasons, specials, OVA’s, movies, etc. released for the series which I’ve seen and I have to have finished watching at least one season of a show for it to be considered. And although this is an anime list, enjoyment of the original source material (manga, novel, game, etc.) or other aspects of the franchise may have enhanced my love for the series as a whole and in effect moved it up in the ranks. So here is my list:
20. Neon Genesis Evangelion
I start off my list with one of the most widely recognized series of the 1990’s as well as one of the most milked franchises in anime history. It has great action and interesting characters. I am probably one of the few people who thinks the ending to the TV series was well done and perfectly expectable and I thought the other side of the ending shown in End of Eva was even better. Now with the Rebuild movies coming out, my love for the series is getting a nice little revival.
19. NANA
One of the most popular shoujo manga series in Japan, NANA is about two girls named Nana. One is a budding rock star while the other is a hopelessly girly girl. Their paths cross, they start living together, and drama ensues. The music is also very awesome.
18. Moyashimon
So there’s this guy who goes to college and he can see, talk to, and interact with microscopic organisms as if they were these little alien looking cartoon critters. It’s a short series at only 11 episodes but it has very loveable characters and is a lot of fun to watch.
17. Outlaw Star
As I have written in my profile, Outlaw Star was my first real favorite series and also the first series I ever bought on DVD. It’s such a cool and fun series with a hero who was much different from any I’d seen before at the time.
16. RIN ~Daughters of Mnemosyne~
Mnemosyne is a very violent and sexual series. It’s probably the most violent and sexual non-hentai series I’ve ever seen. You can be pretty brutal when most of the main characters are immortals. The series is just full of awesome “oh shit!” moments.
15. Elfen Lied
And here we have the second most violent series I’ve seen. There’s also a good amount of nudity but it doesn’t really get very sexual in nature. It’s a very good story of tragedy, but the manga should definitely be read to get the whole story.
14. Cowboy Bebop
Considered to be one of the best series ever made by some people, Cowboy Bebop is pretty damn good. Some of those people who believe it to be the best may be offended by its position in my list and what beat it down the line, but whatever. But for one thing, I do consider Cowboy Bebop to have one of the best endings in anime history (though some silly people may say that it was the only thing they didn’t like about the series).
13. Zero no Tsukaima
This series just amuses me to no end. Sometimes I feel like the whole typical back and forth love, hate, and misunderstanding thing between Saito and Louise should get really annoying, but then I just remind myself that they totally deserve each other and all of the retarded crap they put on themselves. The second season is my favorite so far because Saito actually becomes a total hardcore badass. Zero’s Familier is also the first series in my list to contribute to my Rie Kugimiya Holy Trinity as she voices the uber tsundere Louise.
12. Baccano!
Isaac and Miria are two of the most amusing idiots ever! If you don’t think they’re awesome you deserve a beat down. And aside from the asshole old dude pretty much every other character in the story is also completely enjoyable to watch. The actual story is pretty damn cool as well.
11. Genshiken
This is one of the most normal series on my list. It’s just about people in an anime/manga/video game cultural club in a Japanese college living their lives. A friend of mine once said that Azumanga Daioh was the Seinfeld of anime because it was about nothing. I countered saying that Genshiken is the true Seinfeld of anime. Azumanga Daioh is a little too wacky to be compared to Seinfeld.
10. Kaleido Star
This is my favorite all-ages anime. It is also a very unique story about a circus-like stage performing troop. Lots of really cool acrobatics, loveable characters, and the right amounts of drama and comedy.
9. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
If Azumanga Daioh was a twisted dark comedy you’d get something like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. The series follows a class which has the most negative teacher in the world and all of his students have some weird little defect to them. Then you just throw in a crap load of social commentary and some parodies here and there. It’s definitely not for everyone, but I find it damn amusing.
8. Shakugan no Shana
Shana is very adorable and she is the second entry who holds a spot in the Rie Kugimiya Holy Trinity. It’s also amusing to note that Yuuji, the main male lead in this series, is voiced by the same person as Saito in Zero’s Familiar. Anyway, Shakugan no Shana mixes the supernatural action and school life genres very well. I’m really looking forward to the new OVA and TV series coming out.
7. Azumanga Daioh
I already referred to Azumanga Daioh briefly in two other shows on the list. This is one of the few shows that I thought was actually done much better than the original manga. I just felt that the pacing was perfect and it was great that they actually animated the entire series and didn’t have to cut it short like a lot of other anime. I think I’ve watching this series at least 4 times from beginning to end.
6. Haibane Renmei
This series is beautiful. It can also be very sad. During a certain episode in the middle of the series I was actually made so sad that I curled up into a ball and had to cry for a few minutes and couldn’t watch any more for the rest of the day. The only anime moment that came close to being that powerful for me was the ending of the Air TV series. I just wish that ABe would have drawn more of the doujin manga that inspired the series.
5. Gurren Lagann
Just EPIC! No other single word really describes Gurren Lagann better. I just love how the series just gradually becomes more and more EPIC as you go on and how time jumps ahead and so much changes throughout the series. It also has some pretty nice characters. I think the ending could have been a little better, but it fit with the series.
4. Black Lagoon
If you like action, you will like Black Lagoon. It’s just as simple as that. If you have a friend who you want to try to get into anime and they like action movies involving a lot of shooting and explosions, have them watch Black Lagoon. The series is actually heavily inspired by American action films and even has references to them and other pieces of American culture. The series just bleeds badass and cool. And most of the badasses are women.
3. Toradora!
This is the freshest series on my list as the anime just premiered in Japan last October and finished its 25 episode run back in late March of this year. Its main female character Taiga is also the final member in my beloved Rie Kugimiya Holy Trinity. She is also my favorite and most adorable of the three. Actually she’s currently my favorite anime/manga girl in general. Words just cannot explain. The rest of the cast is also quite awesome. Too bad they didn’t use the same voice actor for Ryuuji that they used for Saito and Yuuji. That would have been amusing. This is currently my top priority, must be licensed show right now. If no one picks this up it will be a damn crime!
2. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
The story in Higurashi is just amazing. It is amazing how it goes from being so totally confusing after the first chapter reset to making perfect sense during the last few chapters in the second season. And even though a lot of the fun in the series is figuring out what is going on it still somehow keeps 100% re-watch value. I don’t know what it is but I never get tired of the story and its characters. I’ve watched both TV seasons, 50 total episodes, three times through so far and I just want to watch it again and read more of the manga version and read the original sound novels.
1. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
And my current number one favorite series is Suzumiya Haruhi! Yeah, it’s a series that has an enormous amount of fans and the fandom as a whole is a little overblown but I really do love the series. When I watched the series for the first time I thought it was the most amazing thing I ever saw. I also declared it to be a crime if no one licensed this series. Luckily I was a little late at getting around to watching it so Bandai announced it a few months after I saw it for the first time. I think I’ve watched the original 14 episodes 5 times so far. I’ve also read the translations of the first 9 original light novels. Book 10 really really needs to be released!
And that’s all. It was really hard to get this list down to 20 and putting them all in order, but it was a good time killer during my down time at work. Maybe I’ll post more things eventually. Laters!
20. Neon Genesis Evangelion
I start off my list with one of the most widely recognized series of the 1990’s as well as one of the most milked franchises in anime history. It has great action and interesting characters.
