Tooru and Run have been best friends forever, so when Tooru learns that she's managed to get into the same high school as Run, she runs to tell her... only to find Run in a compromising position with yet another girl, Yuko. Needless to say, that makes things a bit awkward at school, with Tooru fending off those who might be interested in Run while Yuko and their other girlfriend, Nagi, have to deal with Run's own penchant for drama.

For any slow paced slice of life series, there is always a challenge of not being boring. A-Channel does manage to stay above the boredom zone (most of the time) making it a decent slice of life anime. It is a nice series which makes for a very relaxing watch

A-Channel revolves around 4 high school girls and their everyday lives. The setting itself is a bit overused but that doesn't mean that it's not good. The slow pace combined with the setting gives it a light and relaxing atmosphere. Despite the slow pace, rarely does A-Channel feel boring. The comedic moments are up and read more

A Channel is simply a channel featuring the daily lives of four fairly-ordinary girls. This is a fairly ordinary slice-of-life story (strongly contrasting with Nichijou, which is still ongoing as of this review). In terms of animation, this can be likened to a mix of K-on and Lucky Star. In terms of plot and characters, probably more likened to Minami Ke. All in all, it's a fairly average show, though I don't know why it is tagged as seinen, if anything, there are yuri undertones.

This is a straight slice of life series. There is no significant focus on romance, action, mystery, etc. In fact, if read more

Does a good anime need to have a good plot? The answer is: NO! Take a certain over-the-top mecha-robo anime with plenty of drills (and thus male Freudian artifacts) for example; it's plot wasn't the most original storytelling, but that didn't stop the anime from being explosively entertaining.

But does good anime need to have ANY plot? The answer is undoubtedly: NO. If otherwise, the slice-of-life genre of anime wouldn't exist; and hits like K-On, Lucky Star, and Hidamari Sketch would never have gained the popularity that they did.

So is A-channel like Lucky Star, K-On, or Hidamari Sketch? The answer is still: NO. The latter read more

A-Channel is your sterotypical slice of life/comedy, where four young girls experience adolesence in a high school setting. I was reluctant to even watch the series until one of my friends recommended it to me. Astonishingly, A-Channel was somewhat decent, however after completing a handful of episodes I realized that it was gradually decending in terms of quality.

The four main characters Nagi, Tooru, Run, and Yuuko strongly resemble the main heroines from K-ON!, especially Yuuko and Run. Yuuko is basically a watered down Akiyama Mio clone, and Run's airheaded qualities as well as her overall personality poorly attempt to mirror Hirasawa Yui's extravagant comedic capabilities.

Anime: K-On!
A Channel and K-ON! are both slice of life comedy anime about four girls. The characters of A Channel also might remind one of the K-ON! girls. Both series also have a lot of music in them - in K-ON! it is from the girls in their music club, and in A Channel it is in the insert songs each episode.

Anime: Lucky☆Star
4 girls doing cute stuff, school setting. interestingly enough Kaori Fukuhara, who voices Tsukasa from Lucky Star, voices Run in A Channel

Anime: Yuru Yuri
Higher profile all-girls anime with some but not unacceptable lesbian tendencies (yes, there are MORE obviously lesbian shows out in the wild.)

A-channel is the serialized series in a less obvious girl-loves magazine Manga Time Kirara. One of my favorite magazine that also home to the even more prominent anime such as Hidamari Sketch and K-On!. The positioning of this magazine doesn't allow girl to blatantly kissing or making out, thus is pretty SFW. And A-channel is a stereotypical Manga Time Kirara's manga, and same goes in its anime adaptation. No overly lesbian action.

YuruYuri is serialized in Yuri Hime magazine. With more  read more

Anime: Yuyushiki
Both are slice of life shows that have an all girl cast and are in high school. They're both comedy driven and just look at the simple things in life and both shows are based mainly on friendship, growing up and being young.

Anime: Kiniro Mosaic
Like cute girls doing cute things? Look no further! A-Channel and Kiniro Mosaic are anime series you'll definitely find some similarities in with their themes involving cute girls at a school life environment. Rather than presenting a complex life story, they involve simple tales of these girls' every day life at school and what they do to have fun.

Both series continues various dialogues that are humorous along with its character interactions.

Anime: Hyakko
the feel from A Channel's first ep is very similar to the feel from Hyakko. I hope they will be the same qua style in their slice of life genre since I really liked Hyakko :)
