Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road (The Executioner and Her Way of Life)

Average student Mutou Mitsuki suddenly finds himself transported to another realm. Summoned by the king of this world for the remarkable power he is supposed to possess, Mutou is thrown out when it appears that he lacks a "Special Concept." Moping about, he encounters a priestess named Menou who explains that Japanese people like him are known as Lost Ones, and such individuals never fail to have Special Concepts.

Menou elaborates that she is part of a church that helps abandoned Lost Ones integrate into society. She invites him to spend the night at her church, where the two can probe the nature of his ability. Eventually, they discover that Mutou's Special Concept is actually incredibly powerful and dangerous. But while Mutou celebrates, Menou shows her true colors and stabs him in the head, killing him instantly.

Menou's goal is not to assist Lost Ones—rather, it is the opposite. Due to four infamous incidents where Lost Ones caused monumental damage, the church has ordered that the foreigners all be assassinated as soon as they are found. With Mutou eliminated, Menou must next dispatch the other Lost One summoned by the king: Akari Tokitou.

Another surprisingly very likable isekai show with several sweet scenes.

The thing about these overly popular genres is that it's hard to determine what the show is about. Especially if the title is not that type of particularly long and in-your-face description of the show. Shokei Shoujo, in my opinion, is a bit on the ambiguous side, and I would not find myself enjoying the show if I hadn't decided to just try a lot of currently airing shows. They managed to hook me with some sliver of what-ifs that they deliberately left as vague spots without compromising a nicely built background story.

This tries to be the "i'm not like other isekai's" of isekai, not in a good way either.
The main character is unlikable person who is easily hate-able, most of the first episode could've been cut out of the story as it was completely unnecessary instead of trying to sloppily subvert expectations. The art style is good and was enjoyable, it mixes a fantasy setting with semi modern influences in its world design.
The sound design was alright, not anything particularly too special about it aside from a decent sound track.
None of the characters are enjoyable enough to care for. No character has any redeemable qualities read more

Isekai is an undeniably popular genre for Japanese works. It’s become so common that it has a few formulas and even some prejudice about how it can be a little generic.

The story follows Menou, an Executioner working for The Faust (the church of this world) who is tasked with killing ‘Otherworlders’. Her world has suffered many disasters thanks to Otherworlders, humans who have been summoned from Japan and gained powerful abilities upon reaching this new world. Now The Faust have taken it upon themselves to kill any Otherworlders who are summoned before their powers fully manifest.

The trouble is the nobles of this world are obsessed with power and see the Otherworlders as a way for them to become stronger than their neighbouring countries. Before killing her target, Menou first attempts to make them trust her to find out if their power will be any hindrance to the assassination. This gives her the ability to carry out her task without getting into chaotic battles, but it also ends up being a big benefit in her next mission… Menou’s latest task is to kill a girl called Akari, but while Menou thinks Akari’s power is simply to heal, she quickly discovers that Akari actually has the power to turn back time if she’s fatally wounded. Luckily for Menou, Akari retains no memory of having been killed so Menou can at least pretend to be her friend while working out how to get rid of her once and for all.

Outside of Menou killing one Otherworlder, the majority of the story is taken up by her dealing with Akari. Because of Menou’s assassination attempts fail, she’s invited back to one of the headquarters for The Faust where they’re said to have more powerful magic that can be used to kill Otherworlders. This means that Menou and Akari will now be traveling together for a short while, which Akari is excited about. Menou has told her that they’re going to The Faust to send her back to Japan, so for now, she doesn’t suspect a thing. Meanwhile, Menou is starting to grow attached to the girl, which may pose problems later when it comes to saying goodbye… The Executioner and Her Way of Life certainly has an interesting premise with the idea of a world so torn apart from Otherworlders that they need to start killing them upon arrival.

Menou also makes for a compelling protagonist. She’s been through a disaster all of her own which left her orphaned, resulting in her being taken in by the church, but she’s also not weak. She’s very serious by nature but there is a kind personality here, which is brought out by having Akari around. We also get to see her dote on her subordinate Momo plenty, which adds to the depth of her character. Akari for her part is more stereotypical in terms of being a happy-go-lucky Japanese high-school student who is fascinated by the new world she’s found herself in.

It’s also interesting that the series leans into being a Yuri in places, with both Akari and Momo clearly being very attached to Menou, and it will be interesting to see if the author does anything with that in future volumes. The illustrations (handled by nilitsu) certainly lean into the idea of the series being a Girls’ Love of some description, so that element is likely here to stay.

Overall, The Executioner and Her Way of Life is an extremely likable anime. It is worth spending your if you’re looking for a spin on the isekai genre!

We all know the deal when it comes to Isekais, but what makes this show standout from all those, is the twist that it has within it.This is what this show will bring, and keep you hooked from start to finish. Depending how well it hooks you, will be the bigger story.

Story and characters: 7
With a twist such as that, and details within, it makes it for a more interesting story then if it was a generic run of mill isekai. Thankfully its not. As with the sense of mystery and excitement the show offers with its complex story, will be enough to drive it home. Laying the ground work from the start, and make you curious upon whats up coming. This is what a good story can do you.

Focusing on the idea that those brought from another world aka Japan, will bring nothing but chaos, so its best to rid them. But what also backs the interest in this story up, is the line of cast members.From the first few moments, you're already hooked on their backgrounds, and story more and more. We have Menou, who really gives of Nana from Talentless Nana. Who can be the right kind of nice, but will ruthless murder you as part of her job as her master's successor. We also have Momo, who can seem like a sweet girl at first glance, but she herself has her own set of layers behind her that really add to her character. Finally we gotta talk about Akari, the gal who seems immortal, whom is a real treat, and it'll make you certainly glad she winded up being the main protag in this series.

With a complex and multi layered list of characters, backgrounds and so much more behind them that just adds to the mystery of the show, and the setting. It'll make for a great watch personally. It's good when an animes cast, can really make for a good story. If it keeps up the pace, then it'll be a great show for the season ahead. You'll want to be invested in it's cast, you'll want to be invested in it's story, and the whole premise behind it all, that is what this show does, and it does it well.

Art and sound: 7
I really do dig the atmosphere when it comes to this show. It can be bright, it can be grim. It really does look spectacular in parts. Which really should be given more credit honestly. I'm always grateful, when shows do take the effort to look not only good, but stylish in parts. Well done there. Coming with that though, is the good sound effects and being fit for purpose in scenes, to really add to any tension that comes ahead as it progresses along. If you don't believe me, just take a look of how episode 3 goes along within it's early mid part. The beat and sound, the animation,all looking and sounding great.

While the name is a bit weird, what isn't weird is how good this show can be. If it keeps up a good pace, it'll be one to remember for sure. Give it a go.
