Golden Kamuy 3rd Season

Golden Kamuy is one of those anime that I can't criticize. No it's not perfect but it is a great anime. One of the best I've ever seen. For me personally it is a perfect anime because it has everything I love in the story.

Third season doesn't disappoint, I didn't have any doubts that it will be amazing! I'm just sitting there and waiting for the announcement of the fourth season!

Golden Kamuy is one of those series that are appreaciated in Japan but sadly not worldwide. Sometimes I think it's better this way, normies wouldn't understand its phenomenon anyway.

I give this anime 10/10 because it ... is my favourite anime, maybe it lacks something at some points but I am so charmed by the perfectly designed characters and well written story that I look past any mistakes.

If you haven't seen Golden Kamuy yet, then move your butt to the first season and catch up! You won't be disappointed!

AHHH...Golden Kamuy, the series that never stops giving both its world and characters rest (even with the ample amounts strewn throughout), and keeping us on our toes each and every time. Now into the 3rd season after a 2-year wait, and the "peak fiction" levels of enjoyment and thrill has never dipped once, even with its hilarious slice-of-life comedy that always proclaims the provocatively memorable "HINNA, HINNA!" catchphrase. If you're reading this review and watching this spectacular series for the very first time (at least this installment anyways), please start from the very beginning and experience the awesomeness that is this historical action-adventure series that's ... unlike anything else out there.

With that outta the way, let's continue to where we are left off with the cliffhanger of Season 2: The group separation of a journey to find Asirpa's father Nopperabo (now recognised as Wilk) and figure out the passcode to the Ainu gold that the only daughter would know in total secrecy! Divided into 2 groups (Sugimoto's group of Koito, Tanigaki and Tsukishima, along with Asirpa's group of Ogata, Kiroranke and Shiraishi) and playing the cat-and-mouse killing chase throughout the numerous arcs that are based throughout Karafuto, the lost secrets of Season 2's final episodes have been revealed, and revenge is on the nigh for Sugimoto's group against Asirpa's group with the numerous betrayals of former comrades with a strong tenacity for payback (while engaging in some unavoidable Russian pastimes for insane hilarity and scourging for information).

And if you think that the higher-ups of the 7th Division and the Shinsengumi are mostly forgotten in this season, you're both right and wrong: Correct in the sense that while both Tsurumi, Hijikata and their lackeys serving as background characters, but wrong in the sense of pre-Russo-Japanese war happenings (especially for the former's backstory and how he became the series "psycho" psyche of a fearsome antagonist that we all know and love). That by far, is easily THE BEST defining moments of Golden Kamuy's adaptations to-date. Even the Ako Prison Break arc of Asirpa's group saving former Russian comrades-turned-revolutionaries provides a nice backdrop of the history between them, Kiroranke and Wilk, all leading to the final sequence of events that reach the objective laid out since Season 1: the Ainu gold treasure hunt. Man, talk about heaps of stacked infodump that only gets better as the story progresses, and sharing with it is the ever-growing excitement from the marvellous execution of both its main story plot and background twists. What can I say, the gradating outstanding storyline just rolls off the tongue.

It's easy to say that for Geno Studio, they undoubtedly haven't dabbled in anything else except Golden Kamuy, of which the comparisons to both Kokkoku and Pet, are like small pests to an enormously large reservoir. But as a long-time viewer and for the 2nd year of the series running, I can safely and assuredly say that Golden Kamuy isn't just a cash-cow for the small studio, but evidently a passion project altogether of constantly better visuals and improved animation with the same production staff team that has helmed this anime since 2018. Many may say that good animation doesn't hold up a bad overall story (or vice versa), but you're not gonna find all of that here, as Geno Studio does a heck of a marvellous job solidifying each progressive season in both consistency and pacing.

The music department has also been one of Golden Kamuy's pervasive strengths since the very beginning, and what great OSTs we were blessed with in prior seasons, because Season 3's OST is also no slouch in that matter. FOMARE's debut song "Grey" for the 3rd OP may not have the ooze and oomph of the same bombastic quality as both Seasons 1 and 2, but I feel that this is the most rounded sounding song of the OP song list that's still pretty good on its own (heck, the full song clocks in at sub-3 mins, so I'd recommend music nuts to give this a listen). What definitely sounds a major upgrade is the ED, and THE SIXTH LIE is back with another banger song that's brings back the feels with their 1st ED "Hibana", but exponentially better with "Yuutetsu". In this show, when the starting instrumentals part begin to kick in, you know shit is gonna hit the fan by the proceeding episodes, and this brilliant time signature absolutely amplifies this song tenfold. I'd go to say that this might be the best ED of the series to-date, certainly now my all-time favourite of the ED song list. All in all, another praise-worthy OST to add to the collection.

Golden Kamuy has always been the top 1% of god-tier standards in both story plot and visuals (for both the manga and anime), and yet for the 2 years since the anime came out, it's a very saddening reality to see that even lesser people really notice this massively underrated "crème de la crème" of an exceptional show, much less the declining number of watchers (me included) who have stuck with the series since Season 1 with non-stop awe and praise. A recommendation at this point is seriously not enough for people who are actually missing out on Golden Kamuy (at least the West anyways, since Japan both love and hold the source material in very high regard), and I'd wager on being a revolutionary weeaboo otaku by saying this:

"Come on Crunchyroll, you can do a better job than just licensing this to Funimation to handle the (post-season) English dubs for 2 straight years running, RIGHT (since both your company and Funimation are now under Sony)??? You want to plan a Season 4 someday, sure, go ahead! We also want a Season 4 in the future, but please do the correct planning, PLEASE."

Honestly Golden Kamuy is the best anime of this season for me.Season 3 was hype and it sure deliver the hype more than i expected.
The story is really good searching for gold and everyone is looking for a way to unlock the mystery of gold.Just like previous season it carry on the gold search but every thing is so enjoyable.The new characters are amazing and as always people with tattos its always fun finding out their personality.Hijikata Vs Cap Tsurumi and Sugimoto working with Tsurumi to find Asirpa and save her from Kiroranke and Ogata.The story was great for me.
Art was fine i guess i ... dont have any complain against Art and Sound.Both of them were great.
When it comes to characters, man just like previous seasons this season also had great characters.The backstory and every mystery they create great character.Ogata , Tsurumi , Wilk , Kiroranke and others had really great character development
This season might be 9 or 8 for more most people but i m giving it 10 because of the enjoyment.I really enjoyed this season along with previous season.

Golden Kamuy is one of those animes that gets better and better by each season. The surprising part is that it started great from the very beginning and it has never lost its steam since then. The ending of the last season was one of the highlights of the series to that point, and yet, I had some doubts after the reconfiguration of the parties we follow in this part, how the story will work when you separate Sugimoto and Asirpa, one of the strongest features of the series? to my surprise (and ignorance), it worked extremely well, so I was happy to be rightfully ... corrected for my unfaithful way.

The main driver of this season is for Sugimoto to rescue Asirpa while still unfolding the mystery of the tattoos and trying to get the treasure. One could say that it falls in the “damsel in distress” trope, but this being Golden Kamuy, it is nothing to worry about and makes it work extremely well.

The pacing is something to talk about as every chapter went flying, even the ones with a more slow pace and dramatic turns. Still, the show knows exactly where to slow down and give you emotional packed punches as where to give you its funniest jokes. It is hard to make these kinds of turns from comedy to drama or action, but the series makes them as if they were nothing. In that regard Sugimoto’s party was the most fun to be around, especially with the inclusion of Tsukishima and Koito, they do wonders to the show and only make you want for them to hang around forever. Of the many interactions with the new set up of parties, one of the strongest might be Sugimoto and Koito, because they kinda hate each other they tend to go to ridiculous and extreme ways to fuck up the other, resulting in the most hilarious outcomes, there is one episode where they participate in a circus show and it was pure laughter.

I have a particular love for one episode in which Sugimoto’s party has to enter a gambling fight Vs. a Russian team, battle royale style. While the episodes focused on Sugimoto are for the most part character-driven, the ones focused on Asirpa’s party are the ones that forward the plot and keep the stakes higher by the second. Not to say that they don’t reverse their “established” team roles, as Sugimoto’s party can get pretty emotional and, Asirpa’s can be quite comical also.

The past season advanced towards having an epic climax ending with the prison raid, however, this season takes things more intimately and is developed around a growingly epic setting, not only feels more fitting to the story but in a world where sequels need to be bigger and louder by each new chapter, this creative decision in its storytelling feels even fresh and naturally subverts your expectations.

One of the meta-questions that this series has championed from the beginning is how are heroes different from evildoers? What makes the hero a hero? At first, it was easy to root for Asirpa to get the gold for whatever reason she wants it to use it, but as the story developed and more parties were interested in getting the gold for their own personal and social benefit, it has become harder to separate heroes from antagonists, they all seem to do bad things (and they do) to obtain it, but they also want it to attain it for a far greater and nobler goal. This season still blurry that line even more that I’m no longer sure who I want to get it, and that is one of the beauties of Golden Kamuy, from one moment to another, antagonists can become heroes or vice versa.

Performances are still amazing but that is hardly a surprise as Japanese voice actors have a pretty high standard, this time though, not only some actors speak Ainu but they also speak Russian. From what I’ve read they don’t speak it that fluently nor clearly, but it is a commendable effort nonetheless, they went the extra mile of doing it and don’t go the easy way as other anime shows or even other popular media do things in that regard.

Speaking of the Russian language, among the things that I loved since the first season was the historical bits they use to talk about Japan and more specifically the Ainu, now we also have a little bit of Russia’s history and culture. This only adds more depth to the rich narrative of Golden Kamuy, sometimes on a superficial level and another on a plot level, for people who like historical settings or trivia this will be a treat, it certainly was for me.

Of all the anime that came around the fall season, Golden Kamuy was on my top, but after watching a couple of episodes it became my most anticipated watch every two weeks (I like to watch 2 episodes at once). Not only maintains the stakes or the excellent pacing and writing of previous seasons, but heightens the bar even further in this one. Aside from some “not that good” quality animation and drawing, I can’t recall anything negative for this season, and they even upgraded it in comparison with the past seasons (still there’s a lot of room to improve mind you). For people who already like Golden Kamuy, I think it will be a blast, and for people who are hesitant to start the series, I think this is a great moment to give it a shot.

Ah so Golden Kamuy season 3 is finally here and you know what? Its still as fantastic as the last 2 seasons with extremely lovable characters going through fun antics that always pushes character growth, with a grand overarching mystery plot, the quality of the show hasn't dipped in the slightest.
Story: 9 After the huge cliffhanger from season 2 we are now seeing the continuation with a somewhat sideplot that has good amount of character development happening. The scenario is extremely entertaining to watch with still a lot of fun action to push the plot forward. Though it can be slow for some these in ... between adventures of our characters allows the author to build more backstory and personality for his huge cast of characters and overall makes it so when they do all meet up in the big finales, they are bombastic and you truly can care about each and everyone of their stories.
Art and sound: 9 Its still great, with the very distinct character designs that allows you to easily tell all the characters apart. The solid animation and sounds design make scenes like the boxing scene extremely entertaining to watch with solid art all around to boot.
Character: 10 We finally kinda have a 'main' villain this season which makes our now 4ish groups of characters all super entertaining to watch as we try to slowly but surely see their plans unfold. Our main boi Sugimoto also gets a ton of interesting development that makes his character a little more interesting and overall they are all still great, having a lot of depth making every single one a blast to watch.
Enjoyment and Overall: 9 I mean what more is there to say, this season is looking to have a fantastic finale and the show seems to have taken the time to make sure their is no drop in quality at all. If you enjoyed S1 and S2 of the series then you should be excited to hear that S3 holds up beautifully. If you are still looking to get into this series, know that you are in for a lovable cast of characters in a very intriguing plot who all are involved in fantastic action. If you love things like Gintama and are looking for something similar then I would highly recommend this show to you.

Golden Kamuy is a show that can bring in the craziest genres together and make it feel like they were meant to be with each other.
Never had I thought a show which has Action, Adventure, Comedy AND GOURMET would be this good.
THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR ALL THREE SEASONS.
After seeing the first four episodes of the third season it is safe to assume that this is as good if not better than the previous two.
This season is till now focused on Sugimoto finding Asirpa after being shot in the head and ... being betrayed by Ogata and Kiroranke due to which they got separated from each other, and my god each episode is a joy to watch just because so much happens during the episodes, this whole show is beautifully paced not at one point will you feel bored or be like is showing this necessary? Heck the parts where they talk about food for straight five minutes is also entertaining to watch just because of the way the characters interact with each other.

The story till now is absolutely fantastic, the only reason it's not a 10 is because only the first four episodes have come out so I have no clue how things will turn out after this

There isn't any bad thing I can say about a character, each and every character has his/her role to play and they play it perfectly, also the character interactions is the strongest point for Golden Kamuy.

The animation isn't amazing nor is it bad, it's just good which isn't a problem as Golden Kamuy isn't about it's visuals and more about the story.
Also RIP CG bears, they will be missed.

The OP and ED are pretty good, tho the first one was still the best, the third seasons' aren't bad at all.
I'm going to say this again but this show is a hidden gem, it's sad that not many people are watching and enjoying this, I really hope this gets the attention it deserves because this show deserves a lot of it.

Another great season of a criminally under-watched anime.

Something that I love about this series is that it never feels too boring or predictable. This ls attributed to the dynamic character building and everchanging alliances between the characters as they attempt to find the mountain of gold at the end of the road.

This is what makes Golden Kamuy so great and it is back again in this season. The players in this season are Team Sugimoto, consisting of Genjirou, Hajime, and Otonoshin as they attempt to catch up with Team Kiroranke and Ogata that have taken Asirpa.

Now, if you haven’t seen either of the previous ... seasons of Golden Kamuy, then none of this will mean anything to you. To these people, I will recommend that you read no further and give the first season a shot. Just add it to your watch list and try to get around to it before the next season starts up.

To those that have seen the first two seasons, I can tell you that this season is pretty consistent in quality with the previous seasons. As I stated previously, the shifting alliances are still present, with Sugimoto partnering up with LT. Tsurumi to get Asirpa back from the dangerous Kiroranke and Ogata.

But there is also some great character building as well, with this season giving more detailed backstories of many characters. These backstories help reveal new motives for these characters and deepen some aspects of their psychology that you might not have noticed.

While the characters and shifting alliances are the backbone of this anime series, there is still some good humor and exciting action sequences. The down moments of the anime when characters are interacting with each other serve for some good comedy and heightens the tension during the action sequences. Everyone is fighting for their own causes, so when they are trying to kill each other, it can be difficult to pick a side on who you want to win.

However, like in the previous seasons, there are also some aspects that do not work in this season. The subplot with a new character, Svetlana, was not very interesting or eventful, yet it took up a decent amount of screentime. Also, the comedy can impact the tone at times, occasionally interrupting very serious moments and craeting a jarring effect.

Nevertheless, this is still an anime that should be watched by more people. The plot and characters are all great. The art and music are both unique and perfectly add to the atmosphere of the show.

If you haven’t watched the first season yet, give it a shot! It only gets better as you go on.

How the F*CK do you get people to watch Golden Kamuy?

Why do people not watch this educational and funny show that has the BEST characters, humor, and plots in anime history?

Outside of my watching group, which I'm grateful for, it is hard to share Golden Kamuy's beauty with any friends or even internet strangers. Many were scared off by the bear CGI or the youtube video that talked about the CGI. The third season is definitely my favorite out of the 3. The progression of the show is perfect and the artistic liberty the animators take for certain parts of the story, such as the ... art in episode 8, worked perfectly. You know the show has grown when they no longer rely on hinna hinna humor and the OP-ness of Sugimoto.

OK,no bs, Golden kamui is easily one of this season's top best written shows and also the most underrated one. I still don't get why more people aren't watching it,cuz this is one of the most unique anime out there which seamlessly blends various genres to get such a rich experience.

The setting of the show itself, is very unique. Its not the typical modern day japan in anime with lots of kawai girls wearing short skirts for petty fanservice or kids with superpowers are saving people while adults have little to no role.
This is japan after the russo japan war with characters with ... brutal backstories .But don't worry ALL of the characters in the series is frickn' funny.The chemistry between each character as well as the tension between them is one of the best aspects of the show.Its a refreshing watch overall and I highly,it would be very sad if this show gets cancelled beacause of the low viewership.

Man, each season of Golden Kamuy just keeps getting better and better. This was easily the best season so far. It really makes me look forward to what happens in season 4. Unlike previous seasons, that focused on all the different groups looking for the gold, this season focused on one issue: Sugimoto getting to Asirpa to tell her he's still alive and warn her of who the real enemy is. Along the way, the story does a good job of blending in action, comedy and suspense. But, it also really focuses on filling out some more of the characters besides ... Sugimoto and Asirpa. You learn a lot more about Wilk, Kiroranke, Ogata (Who is turning into one of anime's finest villains), and even some of the more tertiary characters.

At the end of the chase, you're treated to one hell of a suspenseful finale, that doesn't fail to entertain in any way, and manages to swerve you pretty well, to boot. Golden Kamuy is a hidden gem in the anime world. A completely unique world, quirky humor that borders on the insane, unforgettable characters and moments, and tight, realistic action. If you loved the previous two seasons, you'll love this one, too.

For all intents and purposes, I didn’t expect a piss joke to be the thing in this season that got me cracking up the most. Now, I’m not against it or anything, but in a show about war, ethnic minorities, history, and a surprising amount of gay overtones, ‘urine’ was not the thing I was expecting to get me bursting this time around. (Pun not intended)

Story:

After the failure of the Abashiri Prison break, the various groups and characters that helped orchestrate the prison escape to get Asripa’s father out have broken up and spread into different directions. In particular, two groups have formed, one with ... Asirpa thinking that Sugimoto may have fallen as a result of the failed prison break, and another with Sugimoto following as closely as he can behind in order to get the little Ainu girl back, as well as take some form of vengeance on the one that shot him.

Suffice to say, Season 3 is mostly a travelling arc rather than one that focuses on gathering the parts of the map from all of the tattooed prisoners. From start to finish, the group goes up from Japan up to the island of Karafuto, a stretch of land that was fought over during the Russo-Japanese war and is home to a number of far eastern ethnic minorities similar in culture and stature to that of the Ainu. Lore and worldbuilding is the name of the game this time around, as what the season this time lacks in major action scenes is instead replaced by huge swathes of historical worldbuilding and smaller historical bouts with several key characters in the story showing up to paint a larger picture. Bits and pieces of the mystery of the man Nopperabo and what he’s done over the course of his life come to play, and a lot of the floating bits in the series start to settle down and formulate a more concise image.

While the lull that this season mostly provides calms down the raging boner (the characters’ words, not mine) of tension and action that the show usually has, the show still manages to run a course of everlasting tension that has a tight grip on the series as a whole. This is mostly due to the fact that almost all of the characters are purposefully out for themselves or working for an opposite party altogether, and the fragile peace they all share is probably going to be broken and they’re all gonna be at each other’s throats within an episode or two if arrangements go bad. It’s stuff like this that makes me feel invested in the series, since it almost never lets up on making sure to keep a continuous pace of information or action so that there’s never any dead time to not keep the audience’s interest.

Reasons like this is why I genuinely love this series and the kind of storytelling it provides. The slow feed of answers provides new pieces for the mystery at an even pace, and the constant unpredictability of the game’s players and the stories we learn about them bring new perspective and get both other characters and the audience to be wary of certain individuals. All leading to a seriously engaging series that presents the histories and cultures of seriously unrepresented peoples in a respectful light, using the events of the Russo-Japanese war and the events of the histories of the superpowers before and after it to express the changes of time and how it affects everyone involved.

Characters:

Characters becomes a harder beast to talk about when it comes to this series simply due to the fact that there’re just so many people, camps, and changing alliances that get people to move and change at the drop of a dime. The blanket statement here would be that every character, living or dead, manages to make an impact on the series on account of the various histories and flashbacks that the show makes heavy use of.

A surprisingly large portion of the series this time around is dedicated to flashback scenes where characters’ paths intersect with one another and we get to see how certain players that were introduced in season 2 came to be where they are now. A surprising twist that I didn’t expect was the introduction of Russian characters who also seemed to play a part to this whole thing, and the histories/backstories that came with them as well. Personally I’m a little mixed on how much the series utilizes backstories. While I know that it’s absolutely necessary since there’s practically no other way to showcase the different personal histories of all of these characters in a meaningful light, the flashbacks end up being subplots within the main plot, and kind of drive away what the series was currently doing in the first place. It’s not that big of a detriment considering all of these sections are written well and I don’t really have an objection to knowing more about these morally gray individuals, but given how a surprisingly large portion of the show was stuff like explaining why one character is able to speak Russian or why another person has the motives they have, the flow of the series inevitably gets a little choppy since at certain points, the show just kinda says “Stop, let’s rewind a bit”.

Despite that, I have few other complaints about the characters except maybe the fact that Hijikata didn’t show up as much as I wanted him to. They all have surprisingly good chemistry with each other, and everyone from the side characters that show up briefly to the main characters, and even the children that come along the journey all contribute something to the greater whole. And I’m genuinely happy that despite Asirpa’s role as the designated ‘Holy Grail’ character this time around, that didn’t stop her from being the strong, willful female protagonist that she was in the first two seasons.

Aesthetics:

Geno Studio’s art budget for this show just keeps getting better and better, and I’m all for this series getting the credit it deserves. We’re way past CGI bears, and we’re finally in the realm of action packed blood-soaked fighting and hilariously ripped men posing naked like they were in an episode of Jojo. While there’s certainly a lot to love about the gritty war-based aspects about the art and the way it paints the scenes where people get hurt or shot, my favorite aspects personally come with the presentation of the ethnic peoples in the series.

I’m probably sounding like a broken record by this point, but everything from the clothes to the lodgings and all of the little in-betweens with the character and set designs for these little villagers is genuinely impressive and I loved seeing the characters go into these newer areas and spending a night with the people in these small settlements. There’s a nice homey feel about them, and the fact that the show spends an inordinate amount of time in these places makes me feel all the more happier as a history buff to be able to see stuff like this get the attention it deserves.

FOMARE’s “Grey” is a song that’s more reminiscent of a travelling song to me. It’s a softer rock song that doesn’t have a crazy amount of energy to it. In a way, it’s actually inspiring, and feels more in line to the journey that all of these characters take up north in search for answers. It’s a good song, and definitely fits with this portion of the series, so I have few complaints. The same goes for THE SIXTH LIE’s “Yuusetsu”, a similar song to its OP sister with a little bit less energy, and more in line with the desperation and drive that Sugimoto has in order to find his partner. These songs are both great in their own right and deserve a listen to, and I’m glad the show got another set of great tracks to its roster.

Final Thoughts:

To this day, Golden Kamuy remains one of the best bets I’ve ever had on a wild card series I just threw in the seasonal docket because I needed something different. My investment in this series has gotten me genuinely excited to return to the war-torn lands after the Russo-Japanese war, and I’ve gotten too attached to the idea of wanting to see more on these characters and what alliances or characters will break and when. I’m astonished to see a series with so many moving parts somehow keep it all together and balance all of that alongside juvenile comedic moments about pissing on someone that are somehow really funny. Maybe that just says a lot about me as a person, but the comedic timing in this series is really good for no reason.

More than that, I’m just excited to see what’s coming next. Admittedly I hope the scale of what they tackle in season 4 is going to be smaller than what they chose to take on here in season 3 because there was a lot to take in. And I mean a lot. But really, it’s not that much of an issue considering the series has been pretty consistent on its pacing so far, and I’m sure nothing’s going to go bad after all of this is over. I wouldn’t necessarily say that Season 3 tops either of its predecessor, but it’s still very good. And Golden Kamuy still gets my seal of approval to watch it; there really isn’t much else to say unless I want to fill another paragraph about me gushing over random factoids and plot points in the story.

Season 3 was an amazing ride, the snow filled regions of Karafuto, the intense Stenka bouts, unimaginable twists & Lt. Tsurumi.
Golden Kamuy is underrated anime and needs to be get recognised more, it's a perfect blend of History with Action and Adventure, it teaches more about the ethnic minorities of the Japan in the Russian-Japanese war era.
The story continues where season 2 left off in Sugimoto's search for Asirpa and alongside the journey he gives some hilarious moments with the rest of the crew. Everyone is backed by some insane motivations to hunt for ... the gold and you can't really hate the antagonists of this show.
I seriously do not want to wait another 2 years for Season 4.

I think at begging it's hard to recognize Golden Kamuy as a great anime, when the series does not appears to be taken seriously... But, just wait untill watch more few episodes to start rethinking that!

Besides the (GREAT) homoerotic humor appresented, GK isn't just about hot mens naked on a steam room doing suspicious things.
At some point you start to realize that the series narrates more in quality, showing historical and cultural context of japonese-ainu-russian elements.

<3 Also, in my opinion, these cultural aspects has to be taken for people not misunderstood and accept the shipping between Sugimoto and Asirpa! They were made for each other. ... <3

God Golden Kamuy does nothing but gets better and better!

I absolutely loved this season so I rated it a 9. This season gives you action, suspense, mystery, and mixed emotions. This season makes you fall in love with the old characters and the new! I even found myself liking the bad guys (except for Ogata).

After this season I had to add it to my favorites it would be a crime if I didn't!!

Golden Kamuy truly is an underrated gem. It is perhaps one of best anime's this season for story.

I binged two seasons in a week before season 3 aired, so I could do some breakdowns on the series for Youtube... and I found myself in a world so detailed... that I hate myself for not finding it sooner. And with season 3 I am very close to putting it into my top 10 anime of all time. Its a historical fiction / Comedy gold/ Tear jerker 101 and mystery extraordinaire.

The story is lovingly developed and very well written. I like to describe it ... as a master of the 180 ... One minute you are laughing your head of at the literal madness that descends. Their will be just that one episode, where you feel like theres something in your drink ! This season its the Banya/Stenka madness. But the next minute you are being kicked in the face by feels and dropped into very heavy situation. It is an anime which does both perfectly. It is the Grandfather of things like Jojo the comedy is on point if not perfect. It also handles darker heavy topics like war/ PTSD and morally gray characters very maturely. It also acts to teach and inform us about the minority groups of Japan. And explores aspects of their cultures, presenting us with very interesting folklore/ food and perspectives on the world.
It is detail perfect with things like guns being actual models from the time period. Did you know there is a page dedicated to naming firearms in film/animation and Golden Kamuy is on there? The level of detail is beyond insane/ knifes/ grenades etc everything has a real life counter part in which the anime perfectly captures. Costume also being bang on down to small details. The battles/ events of the anime are all based upon real life equivalents.

This is a continuation from the explosive cliff hangar that saw season 2 out two years ago. This season we follow our characters in new groups as we continue into the mystery of the gold. We experience new relationships between characters and new chemistry's. I was worried the comic aspect would be lost now Sugimoto isn't with the Escape King...but the chemistry with Tsukishima/ Tangaki/ Koito and Sugimoto is fantastic. We follow our groups North into Russia as the story progresses with both parties hitting interesting plot points along the way. And the anime continues to show us the harsh cold elements such as the Russian winters famous for being deadly.

The anime continues one of its strongest points character and world building. More backstories/ more history to our boys.

The anime balances having its many groups very nicely. And I do like the fact they held of the Asirpa reveal right up till the end of episode two. It knows how to maintain the hype.

One of perhaps the most thrilling episodes this season is Snipe v Sniper which is literally electric to watch. A high level pursuit where both parties are as clever as the other. Ogatas character really is being dug into this season... hes so well written/ so mysterious so intriguing to watch that you can forget that he is one of the most hated characters. Its the season of morally grey. With other titles following darker characters... the Ogata focus felt really relevant alongside other airing titles.

Golden Kamuy is an anime with many Morally Grey even darker characters... many of them lining the main cast. Its an anime which does characters right. To the point you are intrigued by every character! Whenever a morally grey character is on screen you cannot help but keep watching. Because this anime knows how to write 'bad guys'. Every character is 3d with motives/ regrets and backstory.

The sound is fantastic. The anime uses sound to build effects and uses silence to help drive home the more emotional moments. The sound helps us feel emerged in the front lines...or out in a blizzard. The ED grew on me. XD OP will never be as good as Winding Road by MWAM .... >.> bias. But its still a great way to open weekly.

Art is as always on point top notch, Details everywhere. New characters feel as developed as old and the more emotional stories of the season are lovingly drawn out. This season employs the use of the color pop to show us a characters unstable reality. Making for a very clever and interesting episode to view.

Kudos to the VA work as always. This season we hail Kenta Miyaki aka All Might into a small but unforgettable role that was perfect for him. Kenjiro Tsuda being one of my all time favorite voice actors really shining this season as Ogatas character comes to the forefront of the plot.

I really am glad to be a part of the Golden Kamuy hype train, it really has been one of my top 3 animes this season. And every Tuesday I was just as hyped as the one before to see where the story would go next. I really cannnot wait to see where the season ends and hope that we get a season 4 greenlit soon <3 I really cannot recommend the series enough its well worth the time to sit down with. I also could write pages and pages on this anime XD there is just so much good stuff here.

I only discovered Golden Kamuy last year but honestly it was a salvation of some sort. Never have I laughed and been hooked so hard to the action and mystery than in this anime. The mixture of genres is masterfully executed, historical, comedy, mystery do they actually go well together? Well this is proof any combination is possible.
Golden Kamuy has a very diverse story and can be difficult to follow in the beginning, especially with the great amount of intriguing characters. And the amount of things you learn about that region and particular time (1905-10). The Ainu and other native folks are a relevant part ... of the plot and I think its amazing to learn about them because nowadays they are in dire need of help and recognition to keep their traditions and language alive (as of 2017 only 3000 people speak ainu in japan).
Overall this story is so packed that whoever gets bored watching this is probably not human.

Simply it's a great anime, one of the best..
No stretching, very powerful dialog, all characters are unique and played by a great voice actors..
The back story of charterers shows how wars were very cruel, it's not based on a true story but those stories were happened million of times during wars, and also this anime shows how much people can change because of war, a perfect story this anime introduced for us..
A very good music and soundtracks, not a perfect drawings and arts but it still one of the best..
I am very excited for the forth season..

Another great season of Golden Kamuy! Let's get right into the anime basics.

Story; Following up from the second season, the gang gets separated from the prison where Asirpa's dad was found and shot along with Sugimoto. Aspira wanting to find out the truth about her dad, she follows a group to Russia to learn about her dads routes. While everyone thinks Sugimoto is dead, he's actually alive and ready to find Aspira to tell her the truth about what happened at the prison and to make sure she doesn't get into more danger. This season was just as good as the last ... two... and man ohhhh man, they REALLY love cliff hangers don't they? Art; fantastic as always. Love the animation, the expressions and hilarious transitions. Sound; The OST was good this season, but not as good as the last two in my opinion... but don't get me wrong, I still added the songs to my playlist. Character; We got to learn a lot about the side characters this season that'll probably effect our favourite mains in the near future!

Overall, this season was enjoyable to watch and leave's me wanting more. I don't know if I should wait to read the manga or not?! I don't think it's finished, and I don't want to ruin myself for the fourth season that'll hopefully come out quickly (I need more Sugimoto in my life).

Another brilliant season, this anime keeps being better and better.

The animation is not as good compare to season 1 but it's easily overlooked.
I binged it for 4 hours and enjoyed every moment of it

Characters are amazing as always, the story is becoming clearer and deeper and we get to know more about the overall picture of the situation in history in which the anime is set on. There is some great comedy as well as serious parts which keep you involved and the show doesn't get boring or slow at any moment.

A must watch, it ... is one of the best anime series and you can learn quite a lot about many things (cultures of different ethical groups, survival skills, geography, history, and improvisation)

Let me start off with saying: Golden Kamuy is just getting better and Better and BETTER! This show is such an underrated anime that deserves more credit and needs to be watched by weebs more.

The story is simply amazing, and I didn't really thought of it much at its first season. Surprisingly, the show grew attached to me. How the plot progresses is magnificent. Additionally, the character are enjoyable to watch, and their chemistry with each others is well-balanced. The drama, comedy, adventure, action, and food are, without a doubt, great. The music is also to be admired. Overall, a great anime anime, and if ... you like an anime with good characters and plot, then watch Golden Kamuy.
