I finished watching "True Cooking Master boy" is based on a manga and streams on Crunchyroll. I research it

It's setting the story takes place in 19th fictitious era called "the era of the cooking wars" (not related Food wars)

Of course, it was anime tv series adaptation and remake from the 1997 series anime. They're made anime remake by Production
I.G. the show has fairly limited animation, but attractive character designs, and I particularly like the unique style of lighting used for the folds of the characters' clothes and hair.

the story here is also pretty standard in format.

To meet super chef Liu Mao is ... a 13 year old protagonist of the story. Mao basically grew up in the kitchen watching his mother cook in her restaurant. Due he grew up learning his mother's cooking skills and also ended up with the same love
for cooking his mother had. Mao becomes a super chef in order to take the title as Master Chef of his mother's restaurant. He continues to travel to China in order to learn more about the many ways of cooking, in the hopes of becoming a legendary chef.

I give my score of 3.5 out of 5 stars. :)

In the 19th century China, Mao, and his companions Mei and Shirou wander the land. when they stumble across chicken town, the town most renowned for the quality of their chicken dishes, they find a decrepit looking restaurant still maintained by Tiya since her elder brother died. She and many townsfolk believe that their all-black chicken is the source of their misfortune, so Mao sets out to prove them wrong in an upcoming chicken-cooking competition, where considerable honor and prestige are at stake. what neither Tiya nor the doubting townfolk known is that Mao is actually the youngest ever ordained super chef.

So much nostalgia from watching this. This was an anime that flew under my radar and did not know it was airing until someone told me about it. I watched the original and it was one of the first exposure to anime for me as a child. This "remake" was very fast paced and had a lot of flash backs which did not give the viewer a lot of necessary information and hoping the viewer watcher the original anime. The show was very good and I am glad it is back. The only unpleasant thing is that they left the season off a high point ... of the arc.

This story follows Mao and his friends as they battle the evil entity known as the 'Cooking underworld' to collect a set of legendary utensils that grants the user immense power. The anime's plot is decent but it strikes me as a little weird due to the subject matter. Cooking and food is the show's major driver and it's set in China giving it some distinction from a show like Shokugeki no Soma. I liked some of the food battles and the focus on Chinese cuisine. That said, I think the show took itself a little too serious. Because no matter how tense things get, ... I find it difficult to accept that food and cooking is that 'deep.' I mean, we're talking about a show where people's lives are decided by a cooking contest which just strikes me as weird. Also, the animation was a tad bland in my opinion and I did a little double take when I saw that it's a Production IG property.

The protagonist had some Kenshin vibes and the villain, or the villainous organization in this case is a bunch of evil cooks, so of course I don't find them menacing in the least. What Shokugeki no Soma did so well is create villains within the confines of its story that felt powerful and scary, I didn't get that sense from Shin Chuuka. Well, I'd say skip this show unless you have absolutely nothing to do. There's a season 2 coming out and I'm gonna watch it because I'm weird like that.
