Both anime feature food. If you love food anime and foodgasms, you will like food wars. I must say that food wars goes above and beyond in terms of reactions to the food. The food in food wars is consistently stunningly presented like Shin Chuuka Ichiban and the battles that are presented are equally if not more exhilarating.

Despite their different settings - modern Japan chef school + 19th Century China - both of these have a hilarious view on cooking. Whilst following the gorgeous cooking skills of our main characters, both have to partake in almost ridiculous cooking challenges, in true action form, against god-level chefs in the same challenge expertise. Both are funny, enjoyable, slightly nail biting and hilarious.

Oishinbo is the OG of the cooking food anime. If you like a slower paced "rivalry" Oishinbo is for you.
