Synopsis

Dominating the world of indie music, Detroit Metal City (DMC) is a popular death metal band known for its captivatingly dark and crude style. Its extravagant lead singer, Johannes Krauser II, is especially infamous as a demonic being who has risen from the fiery pits of hell itself in order to bring the world to its knees and lord over all mortals—or at least that's what he's publicized to be.

Unbeknownst to his many worshippers, Krauser II is just the alter ego of an average college graduate named Souichi Negishi. Although he is soft-spoken, peace-loving, and would rather listen to Swedish pop all day, he must participate in DMC's garish concerts in order to make ends meet. Detroit Metal City chronicles Negishi's hilarious misadventures as he attempts to juggle his hectic band life, a seemingly budding romance, and dealing with his incredibly obsessive and dedicated fans.

This anime honestly has everything you want

Short episodes but a plot that is continous partically focused on the MC's music career as well as his personal relationship with his crush

The humor is also just delivered in such a different format than most animes. Unlike most animes that might have sex jokes, the anime has a mature air to it that just makes the humor feel real but still can get you laughing on the floor. The fact that there's an actual line in the first episode "Fuck off! This kinda shit isn't gonna make me cum" has me rolling in laughter.

The animation isn't great which ...

Mixed Feelings
Not suitable for those who are sensitive to violent or sexually explicit language, or are looking for clean, linear stories. I think if the anime was released in 2020 or later, they would have thrown it down or slaughtered it with insults.
12-episode 15min anime, which is why it's over in a flash.
The manager's jokes about getting wet aren't bad. Humour although it's very offensive, with frequent violent and sexual references doesn't bother or irritate, but it gets tired after a while.
it's true some jokes make you snort with amusement "pff". but from saying, "I died laughing", I think they exaggerate a little in the comments.

Now before I start writing my review it is good to note that this is coming from a person that has a history of watching shows like Beavis and Butthead and South Park. But the issue with shows like that is when you create a cesspool of stupidity than it falls under the subjectiveness of comedy if you actually want to eat the shit they are feeding you or not.

Detroit Metal City didn't produce any laughter for me watching the show. So this was not an enjoyable experience to me.
I’m not looking for any emotional attachment to any characters. The show lives and dies on ...
