To the average person, psychic abilities might seem a blessing; for Kusuo Saiki, however, this couldn't be further from the truth. Gifted with a wide assortment of supernatural abilities ranging from telepathy to x-ray vision, he finds this so-called blessing to be nothing but a curse. As all the inconveniences his powers cause constantly pile up, all Kusuo aims for is an ordinary, hassle-free life—a life where ignorance is bliss.
Unfortunately, the life of a psychic is far from quiet. Though Kusuo tries to stay out of the spotlight by keeping his powers a secret from his classmates, he ends up inadvertently attracting the attention of many odd characters, such as the empty-headed Riki Nendou and the delusional Shun Kaidou. Forced to deal with the craziness of the people around him, Kusuo comes to learn that the ordinary life he has been striving for is a lot more difficult to achieve than expected.
Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan aired weekly from Monday to Friday short 5 minute episodes in the morning block until November 4, 2016. A full episode every Sunday night followed the morning block short, but is now the main broadcast time.
OLD REVIEW WAS DELETED SINCE IT WAS POSTED TO SOON
Saiki Kusuo no Ψ nan is a comedy slice-of-life story about Saiki Kusuo who has special powers that allow him to do pretty much anything.
The Episodes are not very long with around 4-5 min per episode but the episodes are coming out almost daily right now.
There is no core story as there is always another core in each episode, but the main story (that is that Saiki Kusuo has special powers) still affects all episodes.
There are some surprising moments that really catch you off guard and you never expected.
The art is very beautiful with good animation and good character design and all characters are very different!
The voice acting is good and the intro song is very catchy, there is no outro song. The background music/sounds are fitting and enjoyable.
There is an outro in the 20-minute version (I watch the 5-minute version so there isn't for me)
The Characters are all unique and well-written, and the characters show a clear relation to each other.
Someone else pointed out that every character follows a cliché, for example, the sports loving class rep, the stupid delinquent or the beautiful girl everyone gets nervous around.
The Series is very enjoyable with lots of funny jokes and interesting character development!
I recommend this anime to everyone, it's funny, well written and definitely not a waste of your time! Give it a try!
Edit after watching 56 episodes:
The more you watch the most things Saiki does, one of the jokes is also the writer making stuff up on the spot and Saiki commenting on that breaking the 4th wall, relationships are also (in a sense) build trough the series
You thought that having supernatural abilities would make your life easier and more enjoyable? Apparently, not for Saiki-kun.
Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan is an episodic anime with short, 5-minute, episodes with only comedic purpose. It doesn't really have a story, there is just the fact that Saiki is a psychic who actually finds his abilities annoying, while he tries to live a normal everyday life.
We, also, see Saiki's daily interactions with other characters, mainly his classmates and his parents. The characters are the best part of the show as they are all hilarious and you can never get enough of them. They all seem to have an interesting and unique personality and they fill their roles nicely, so they are fun to watch.
The art and animation are both pretty satisfying, the backgrounds and the effects are nice and the characters are very easy to recognize, due to their designs.
The voice actors are doing a really great job, although the dialogue is pretty fast sometimes and it may be a little hard to follow, but it is understandable for such a short anime. The intro song is very short , but it is catchy and fits the anime. The background music, also, fills the scenes nicely.
As for enjoyment, Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan will definitely make you laugh with its hilarious jokes, interactions and characters!
Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan is a very short but, extremely funny and enjoyable anime. The episodes are only 5 minutes long so, in case you want to spend a little time every day to watch something that can make you laugh, you can give Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan a try!read more
Few anime made me laugh as much as Saiki Kusuo, this is a comedy short that I can't recommend enough.
The protagonist is really, REALLY overpowered, he was born with a great variety of powerful psychic powers, and, if he wanted, he could conquer the world in few days... But that's none of his business, because he just wants to live a normal and calm life.
And that's the purpose of the story, following Saiki in his daily life of hiding his supernatural powers to the rest the people, and all the funny situations that come from that.
The cast of characters of this anime is outstanding, all of them are extremely funny and have hilarious interactions with Saiki, every episode had me laughing no matter in which character it was focused.
While this won't matter after it finishes airing, I have to mention how much I love the way of airing that this anime has, every weekday, a new 4 minutes short comes, followed by all of them together the Sundays, having a quick, fun short every day is so satisfying, I hope more comedy anime do that in the future.
All I have to say is that if you're looking for a comedy, you should give a try to Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan, it's really good.read more
I personally think that this is the best physic anime your probably ever going to watch. It has great comedy and this serious attitude of the character just makes it more hilarious. Of coarse this is my opinion you don't have to agree with it. It also has a certain comedy that probably only a few like. I don't like the fact that it's only 5 mins last time the made a anime out of it they only had one episode I'm not sure if the other adaption was a OVA or not. But I definite recommend this show I just hope it does well in the future read more
