The anime takes place in Osaka in "AD20XX," and revolves around the Hand Shakers—partners who can summon "Nimrodes," weapons born from their deep psyche by joining hands. In order to grant the pair's wish, the Hand Shakers compete with and fight other Hand Shaker pairs. The top pair will then meet and challenge "God."
"They, the receivers of the Revelation of Babel. They, the challengers to God.
They, who inevitably throw themselves into battle with their partners. What does God want from them?
And did they want powers exceeding that of Gods? The chosen ones, their souls linked,
join hand and hand for the Ziggurat where the fighting shall ensue."
One word: Amazing
Premise? Extremely original(not retarded), would've not thought about disabled middle schoolers battling to the death while holding hands, for a chance to speak to our true savior Allah.
The characters are really interesting! People saying they're boring and "make themselves go to sleep" have a bad opinion and should get educated..
Watched 20 seconds of it and knew this is the THE BEST ANIME of the year.
Lives up to K project's name, I'll be honest IT'S BETTER.
This is a true masterpiece.
Kimi no na wa? Fuck that gay shit
This work was produced by GoHands, which is one of the best studios in terms of animation style in my opinion. I was expecting that this work would be well done, but after watching half of the first episode, I dropped this Anime, it was an utter piece of trash.
I cannot judge about the storyline but all I see is a pathetic main character, which wasn't a good start, but I think the major issue in this Anime was not the character, but it was, surprisingly, the animation and art style.
Let us talk about the animation first. I've never seen an Anime that will my eyes tiring and my computer "laggy". The frames per second of this Anime was so slow that I'm actually seeing a slideshow made up of pictures (normally Anime uses 24 FPS in their production, but this one I'd place my bet on 16 FPS, or even lower).Surely you wouldn't want to see an Anime with such tragically low FPS, I'd rather read a flip book animation, please.
I will be continuing to talk about the art style here. The color tone they had used in this anime wasn't that different from Project K, but it was way more concentrated and colorful. Some of you might think that: "Oh well, what is wrong with an art style with high concentration and contrast of colors?" Well, there definitely is a problem here. The contrast, brightness, and concentration of the colors in this Anime was so high that looking directly at a lamp or a laser pointer would be much better. The angles they viewed from was constantly spinning and moving, for example, they animated the classroom by placing their "recording camera" in the corner of the classroom on the ground, and the camera spins a full 90 degrees to let you look at the overview of the classroom, which is basically all desks and chairs. Together with the impaired FPS, it was truly a horrid disaster.
The only thing I see decent in this work is was the sound, the BGM was chill and nice, as usual from GoHands.
Overall I can say this Anime was a disaster, I was sad that I had been hyping this for a long time and I got a piece of trash. Do not even try to watch this unless you wanted to experience roller-coaster rides and disgusting hallucinations. It would be enough for you to puke just by looking at the art and not paying attention to the storyline.read more
"Hand Shakers" is an anime that took me by surprise. I read the reviews, the synopsis and got excited. I'm in the middle of eating a sundae and I just feel the urge to watch a terrible anime.
I was shocked to learn how amazing the anime actually is. Filled with cliches and nothing unexpected, it was still a beautiful anime to look at and a pleasant experience overall. I would best compare it to a shallow man's dream girl. Stunning and beautiful looking, with little to offer in depth.
Okay, now let me answer the question you're irritated that I'm taking so long to answer. Is this anime for you?
Can you watch an anime casually?
Do you love gorgeous artwork?
How about cliches, can you stand them?
If you answered yes to all of those questions, then you should give this anime a try. It's an appetizer kind of anime. It won't ever stand near or on a throne, but you will enjoy what you see. I believe it'd be best for a binge run, so maybe wait until the anime is fully released.
Here are some of the things I enjoyed and disliked about the anime, that may sway your choice.
[Contains the most minor of spoilers--nothing story ruining]
•Unnecessary lewd scenes.
•Oddly placed comedy.
•Has resident evil quality (bad) camera angles.
•Loaded with cliches, you must be able to like/ignore/put up with them or be ready to endure one after the other.
•Poorly executed plot elements. *Example* Whilst the hand holding idea is unique in its own right, they quickly killed it by adding legroom like that they can be apart for 15 minutes and be fine.
•Poorly developed characters (though this mainly applies the MC).
•I think this anime would have done better as a sci-fi slice of life rather than the fantasy kind of thing it went for.
•Unnecessary lewd scenes.
•Absolutely stunning art. I suggest watching on something capable of high quality streaming (most things are now anyways) to fully enjoy the masterpiece that the visuals are. *Also, It seems to be pretty love/hate with the art. I suggest seeing for yourself
•Pretty fitting audio. The audio never seemed not to suit the aesthetic.
•Great anime for casual viewing or new anime watchers
•Gorgeous action scenes (although gorgeous, still kind of lame).
As you can see, the anime is kind of shaky, but nowhere near a disaster. I would recommend watching at least the first three episodes of this anime to anyone curious about checking it out.
Here are some thoughts I had while watching that... I don't know. That I thought could perhaps help.
•Small amount of emphasis on what entirely is happening in the main story line which is worrisome with only 12 episodes going to be released in all.
•Strange/confusing plot holes that later get sorted out (like Masuru letting go of Koyori's hand despite hearing it'd kill her).
•Possible Kuudere love interest. This may not be a romance, but I love when a kuudere can shine.
•Many scenes could be used as pretty cool backgrounds.
•Show reminds me of Zatch Bell
•Lewdness as settled down.
•The soundtrack is very relaxing.
•Characters are still less than appealing, but they'll do. Kind of like wanting a sundae, but getting just a McDonald's ice cream cone instead. Enjoyable, but not the anything special.
This review will be updated as I see fit and as the story progresses. I will most likely just rewrite this review to be easier on the eyes and more comprehensible when the story is finished.
Hand shakers. An anime by a young anime studio known as Gohands.I have been waiting for about 4 or 5 months since the pv fr it was first realeased. But I watched it with nothing but disappointment. The animation in the first episode was all over the place honestly.Though in episodes 2 and 3 out so far its not as bad.Though the overall enjoyment of this anime was pretty low.The characters are pretty bland so far.The story doesn't make any sense and I was just super disappointed. If I was still 13 right now I would love this but now I'm 16 and I've seen all the anime I could've.This is sadly not worth your time.read more
