Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon

Usagi Tsukino is an average student and crybaby klutz who constantly scores low on her tests. Unexpectedly, her humdrum life is turned upside down when she saves a cat with a crescent moon on its head from danger. The cat, named Luna, later reveals that their meeting was not an accident: Usagi is destined to become Sailor Moon, a planetary guardian with the power to protect the Earth. Given a special brooch that allows her to transform, she must use her new powers to save the city from evil energy-stealing monsters sent by the malevolent Queen Beryl of the Dark Kingdom.

But getting accustomed to her powers and fighting villains are not the only things she has to worry about. She must find the lost princess of the Moon Kingdom, the other Sailor Guardians, and the Legendary Silver Crystal in order to save the planet from destruction.

Usagi is anime's ditziest character — which makes for a perfect comfort show.

I've seen a lot of anime protagonists overeat and oversleep, or just be all-around lazy, but unlike a Goku or Luffy or Naruto, when Sailor Moon enters combat or starts training (does she ever actually train?), she remains the same scatterbrained girl in desperate need of an Adderall prescription. She's probably the worst fighter on the team.

And there's nothing particularly special about Usagi at all. You couldn't even call her an average, everyday girl. She's well below average. She constantly fails tests and trips over her own feet. Among the other sailors is ... the smartest girl in Japan, possibly the strongest, and another who can sense evil auras and banish spirits. Meanwhile, Usagi sucks at the only video game she plays every day. This girl isn't good at anything except throwing a tiara.

As for my other notes, the fights are fairly copy + paste, but I ended up caring about them enough because they found ways to make the fights meaningful. There's also a good amount of soapy fun to be had with the romances.

Unfortunately, I did find the episodic format tiring as I tend to binge watch shows. But once in a while I was surprised by an episode that ends on a heavier note than I thought possible for a magical girl kid's show.

It's fun schadenfreude at Usagi's expense and I take comfort that maybe I don't need to change, even if everyone around me says I do. I'm still pretty and I'm still gonna save the world.... but seriously, get that girl some Adderall.

Mixed Feelings

Never Watched this as a kid and decided to give it a chance earlier this year and overall I think it's fine but at the same time I don't know why so many people glaze this season so much the first half is extremely slow due to the fact that Usagi as a protagonist is boring and annoying as shit I know that she gets better later on but this season has one of the worst first impressions I've seen from an anime the villains are also uninteresting Queen Beryl doesn't do shit until the final two episodes The Four Kings of Heaven sound cool ... but end up being boring as shit, it also doesn't help that the shows pacing (at least to me) doesn't pick up until the other Senshi are introduced.

It all started when i clicked on the "Randomize!" for one of 2021's AWC entries and got Sailor Moon S (The Third Season) and had to see the first ones. After finishing the first season, i wanted to say some things...
You see, i dont skip episodes, fillers or not... If an Anime has 46 episodes on its MAL page, it has 46. And thats wheres Sailor Moon has some trouble with MY PARTICULAR TASTE.

Let me explain: Imagine you're on a bus, but the driver keeps hitting the brakes when theres no need. Well, Thats a Filler... a lot of "old" animes has a lot ... of them....And Sailor Moon is one of them... It has a good story, but the pacing is horrendous, the amount of times they recycled the same idea of a villain doing evil but to different people is bizarre, and sadly it ruined the experience for me..

Another Thing that bothered me was the amount of "reused assets". Every episode showed at least one sailor transformation, and sometimes all five would. there were times where some characters had some silly faces, but thats the "90's charm".

Well, Sailor moon is an 4/10 overall with all the fillers, but the story itself was... Enjoyable, if only they cut half of the anime.... maybe 24 episodes would be more "digestible", a 7/10, but with 46 episodes, the story drags.

One day i'll check the "Crystal" remake
