The 13th and final episode of BanG Dream!'s third anime season announced three new anime films at the end of its broadcast on Thursday.

The first two films—BanG Dream! Episode of Roselia: Yakusoku and BanG Dream! Episode of Roselia: Song I am.—will open in Japan in 2021. The third film, BanG Dream! Poppin' Dream!, is scheduled for a 2022 premiere. Bushiroad opened two official websites for the films and posted a 15-second announcement video. The cast members will reprise their roles.

Koudai Kakimoto, director of the second and third season, will helm all three films as the chief director at Sanzigen. Atsushi Mimura (ID-0 chief animation director) is directing the Episode of Roselia films, while Kakimoto and Midori Gotou (Hoozuki no Reitetsu, Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun) are co-writing the script. Yuniko Ayana (BanG Dream!, Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yattemita.) is in charge of the series composition for the first two films.

Masanori Uetaka (Bubuki Buranki chief animation director) is directing the Poppin' Dream! film, with Yuniko handling both the series composition and script. Music production group Elements Garden (Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm, Senki Zesshou Symphogear XV) is composing the musical scores for all three films. Bushiroad will distribute the films.

The first anime series of the multimedia franchise, abbreviated as Bandori, was produced by animation studios Xebec and Issen in Winter 2017. A second season by Sanzigen aired in Winter 2019. The third season, originally scheduled for Fall 2019, began airing on January 23. HIDIVE and VRV streamed the season with subtitles as it airs in Japan.

The first film of the franchise, BanG Dream! Film Live, opened in Japan on September 13 last year, grossing over 300 million yen (approximately US$2.8 million). A sequel film, subtitled 2nd Stage, is currently in production.

Sentai Filmworks licensed all three seasons in North America and released the first season on Blu-ray in June 2018. The second season shipped on Tuesday.

I see little reason to think such a thing. As long as the franchise keeps making money for Bushiroad, it isn't going to end any time soon.

Bushiroad's projects have an average life span of 8 years, like Milky Holmes, so it is possible that they will end in 2022-23, the only way to continue it would be to withdraw bands and introduce new ones, such as Morfonica, but I see it complicated that they can withdraw bands, especially Roselia who already fulfilled her goal in the game, so it is more possible that they end it, at least the game

The same can happen with Afterglow and of course, Poppipa, how bad they are placed in schools and their goals are so short-term... only Pastel Palettes and RAS have a goal of being pro and still, it is hinted at in the game Pastel can also be dissolved at any time

as expected looks like we'll be getting bang dream for the years to come still i'm okay with more Roselia ,wonder if they'll keep it CGI still or mix it up for movies

So, this is the time come for Bandori will be same level as LoveLive! popularity and fanbase...

With more animation project to come, that means also for songs & game...

Hope someday Bandori x LoveLive! collab will be real (at least for the song & game)...

Similar at micro-level but vastly different at macro-level.

K-On is a CGDCT anime at its core with music as a supplement. It is more relaxed in nature as it revolves around school activities.

BangDream is a multimedia franchise with its rhythm+VN gacha game as its main focus while anime and live performances are used to promote the game. Therefore, it can be flexible in both music and anime genre such that it is CGDCT at micro-level but more music at the macro-level. This is because it currently has 5 bands in the franchise with 2 more coming soon.

You can jump into the S1 anime without any prior knowledge because it involves only one band, Poppin Party which is closest to K-On. But with S2 & S3, you'll need to know the other 4 bands officially through the game. Fortunately, you can also just read the VN stories and interactions online to know more about them without needing to download the game.

Also, 2 out of the 5 bands actually have real band/seiyuu counterparts. The two new bands have them as well. This means they can keep making live performances to generate new fans and revenue. So it is much more ambitious than K-On.
It seems like you might be a bit out of date...

There are currently 5 bands in the game:
Poppin' Party
Roselia
Pastel*Palettes
Afterglow
Hello, Happy World

Poppin' Party and Roselia are also real bands with the members seiyuu playing.

The seiyuu of Pastel*Palettes, Afterglow and Hello, Happy World can't play their instruments (though some are learning), so the 3rd real band, RAISE A SUILEN was created in order to allow the vocalists of the other bands to perform. RAS opened for Poppin' Party and Roselia during Bandori 5th live in mid 2018.

A 4th band was created, Argonavis, which is not part of the main Bandori franchise as it is a boy band. The band has been around for a while, they opened for RAISE A SUILEN at Bandori 7th live in Feb 2019 and were due to have their 3rd live next month (the live has been cancelled due to Covid-19).

The 5th real band, Morfonica, was announced a few weeks ago. They were meant to have their debut in the Golden Week Bushifest (which included Argonavis 3rd and Bandori GBP special live), but it has been cancelled.

RAISE A SUILEN and Morfonica will soon be added to the GBP game.

Erm. That is exactly what he said: 2 out of 5 curernt bands exist IRL and two new girl-bands in the franchise also exist IRL.

He has not mentioned the male side but it's a separate matter. And there are 3 male bands already BTW. They auditioned two more for the upcoming game.

Now that's a lot coming! I'm aware of how popular this franchise is but it seems like I've been underestimating it all this time.

About time to catch up to proceedings...

So much Bandori coming down the pipeline. It'll take a while but I'm definitely on board!

Get ready for the chuuni overload.
