The first anime didn't help (anyone who watched it can tell why) and back then merchandise was not selling. Tides only began to turn when the live events and single CDs, along with the game release made it take a huge (and well-deserved) leap in popularity.
Roselia had a guest appearance at popipa's 3rd and 4th lives.
They wouldn't have confirmed the 1st season, started work on the game and locked in 4th live at a venue 5 times the size of the 2nd and 3rd lives if they weren't selling tickets and merch out of popipa lives.
The money made out of the first 3 popipa lives justified the first season, 4th live and starting Roselia.
The money made out of the anime and 4th live justified opening the game, starting a 3rd band, Roselia's 1st live and a joint live.
Bandori 5th justified 2 more seasons being announced and additional lives.
There's now been 16 days of full lives across the 3 bands with another 6 over the next 5 months, 4 versions of the game with JP version at 2 years and EN about to hit 1 year, 2 anime seasons with 2 shorts, 35 singles and 2 albums (+ the 1st season chara songs and game cover albums) with more on the way...
All based on the success of the "not selling" merch and 3 lives before there was any 1st season to be "poor".

I'll laugh at people back then when they say Bandori will flop and going to be dead project.
Man feel good to be part of this franchise. Hopefully the movie will be screened in my country.
Same here. Nobody had hope for the franchise, but look where it is now. With over 700k followers on twitter and huge popularity in Japan and even outside Japan.
Poppin'Party had 3 sold out lives in/near Tokyo before the first season aired.
The first season airing kicked them from a 3000 seat live venue to a 15000 seat venue for 4th live, where they also added a 2nd band.
The growth of bang dream is in line with the growth of love live.
The main 'issue' for the franchise at the moment is the lack of popularity for RAS (which is why they allowed people to record one song of their last live). They had issues selling tickets for their 3rd live (day 2 of bandori 7th) and had on day tickets available for their 2nd live (day 1 of bandori 6th).
Both Popipa and Roselia sold out their 7th live tickets with 2 lottos and seconds of general sales. RAS required 3 lottos and 3 days of general sales. The next RAS live is in a 9000 seat venue (last 2 were 12000 and 15000) while Roselia has a 18000 venue and Popipa has a 35000 venue.

Was there a reason for postponing the third season? I'm okay with waiting I guess.
Maybe the movie will better quality than the regular TV airing.

Its cool that a movie has been announced though! Any Bandori content is good content, so I'll take it.
