New 'Chi's Sweet Home' Anime to Air in Fall 2016

The combined 22nd and 23rd issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine, which will go on sale on April 28, has announced a new 3D CG anime of Kanata Konami's slice-of-life manga Chi's Sweet Home. It is scheduled to air in Fall 2016.

Chi's Sweet Home was serialized in Morning between 2004 and 2015 and has been compiled into 12 volumes. The series was a Best Comic award nominee at the prestigious Angoulême International Comic Festival in 2011 and 2012. Studio Madhouse produced two anime adaptations of the series, each with a total of 104 episodes. The first series of three-minute shorts aired in 2008, and the second series aired in 2009.

The latest issue of Morning will also publish a new nine-page chapter of the Chi's Sweet News, a series of one-shots previously used to make announcements for the first two anime adaptations.

I've heard about Chi's Sweet Home before, might give it a try in the future. Weird that it'll be CGI though.

Damn. Read that it's getting a new season and got a little excited only to be let down when I saw it'll be CGI.

Ugh, that will not look good animated if it's like the ED of SBR. I'll give an episode a try, if it's really bad, I may drop it.

I almost let out a fan-girl scream when I saw this in my inbox, I can hardly wait for this.

All the disappointment that it'll be in CG saddens me as an animation fan. There is nothing wrong with anime switching mediums if they need or want to. It's a little disappointing studios haven't quite made it look as less jarring as possible, but I think if they were to change up their dated policies for animation, the use of CG in anime will improve dramatically.

Show by Rock had some of the best CG I've seen in a weekly anime series, right up there with Miss Monochrome. If the new Chi's Sweet Home will look anything like the CG there, it's going to look gorgeous. Although I wouldn't mind if the graphics were to look like that of Gon's or Sushi Police's, either, since the episodes will (hopefully) be short anyway.

I was so happy because Chi's Sweet Home is one of my favorite shows but then I saw that it was 3D CG and my excitement died down a lot.

The best thing about Chi's Sweet Home was Chi's amazing faces and it won't be the same anymore :(

Hope it's still madhouse, but full cgi screams low budget work so I don't know.
