And yet most people who will end up watching this will comment on how it's just Groundhogs Day set in the military.

I'll rent it in 2014, but for now I'm okay with forgetting about it until then.

The synopsis sounds like something that Hollywood would create.

What are people complaining about? This isn't even an anime. Hollywood has a better track record adapting novels than animation.

Doug Liman?

Hmm, he hasn't exactly been directing much lately. May be curious because his movies are eyecandy but storywise, they do suck.

Well they said they said they were doing it 2 years ago so it seems like it might not be that bad. Tom Cruise has been in more good movies than bad. So it might do well.
It shouldn't be a matter of what type of movies Cruise has been in, but what type has the director directed, considering Cruise likely has little to no say in the production of the movie. That said, the directed apparently directed The Bourne Identity, and Jumpers, the latter of which wasn't too bad and if I recall correctly, the former received a lot of critical praise.

The second I saw "Hollywood" it shot down any chances of me watching.

I like the synopsis though.

I wonder how many hollywood haters in this thread actually watched good japanese movie, not cheap japanese soap with actors who can't act and directors who can't direct. I guess most lists will start with Battle Royale and end with Battle Royale.

I'm not interested, but if I ever come across it, I may watch out of curiosity.

I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this. I don't know why everyone likes to be so negative? This seems to have a fair chance of being somewhat decent.
