| Club Mass Messaging You read the title correctly. It's finally happening! I am excited to announce that we are in the process of bringing back club mass messaging—albeit, in a modified form. For new members: club mass messaging is a way to send an announcement to all members of your club with one easy click of a button (so essentially what it sounds like). The club messaging re-incarnation is now built into the notifications system, and will consist of the following features:

While different than the old feature (which was removed due to performance concerns), we hope that you'll all enjoy the return of mass club messages! Other Updates Seasonal Anime Genres We've updated how genre filters work on the seasonal anime page: the include option now behaves like the advanced anime search, and you can also simultaneously exclude genres. Hopefully we'll be able to extend this functionality to the advanced anime search soon. MangaUpdates Links The external links to MangaUpdates have been removed from manga pages. Unfortunately, due to their extensive release log and ties to BakaUpdates (with illegal torrents), it is not possible for us to both retain these links and also collaborate with the manga industry. We are looking into finally expanding some of our missing manga information, such as publishers, English licenses, and anime start/end chapters. If there is information that you rely on MU for (scanlations aside) and would like to see incorporated into MAL, please let us know. | This will cause a lot of extra coordination of when threads go up if we want to use the club messaging for it. But otherwise I guess this is a decent upgrade. | Nice update! This really helps a lot. It might get a bit spammy sometimes, but at least there's an option to disable a club. Also, an edit button in club comments, hats really needed. |

| It's about time this feature returns. I've heard of it and how it was disabled ages ago before I joined MAL. Hope the performance this time will be improved instead of being laggy on the server which I've heard in the past. |

| Can't fix anything without fucking up something else, eh. Way to go with MU links, the only actually useful links on manga pages. They have much better page structure and more extensive DB so you just reduced MAL's value as an information hub. |

| Club Mass Messaging + (don't really care, but will be useful for some, more tools and options are always good) Seasonal Anime Genres ++ (looks neat, now for the advanced search to have it implemented too and finally the search will be more usable, i've rarely used it for animes, and for mangas i've always used mangaupdates cause it was just better) forget that, the genre filter is still cool, but to have the advanced search be useful i should stop getting porn results when i search "one piece", and/or 20 pages of unrelated results http://myanimelist.net/manga.php?q=one+piece (spotted at least 7 hentai and some yaoi) http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?q=one+piece (20 pages of "results") even if the new genre filter gets implemented there too, this doesn't look very usable yet MangaUpdates Links = (don't really care, it's not like i'm going to forget the existence of sites cause links are no longer there, but mal is trying to look "clean" and "official", so it was unavoidable) ghoullovesharem said: spam time it's going to be great, isn't it? just checked, there is also the option in the notification settings to turn off all the club notifications, that plus the opt-out, like it when the updates are sensible like this --- suggestion, the selective opt-out is an useful option which would be handy to have also for the watched forum threads, cause some threads are useful to keep watched to don't lose them, but it's not useful to get notifications from those(forum games which get too frequently new posts, for example), while for other watched threads it's useful to get notifications from them(threads which get new posts more rarely, but are interesting), and currently there is only a global on-off on forum notifications, so having an opt-out for every single watched thread could be useful |
