SynopsisSousuke Sagara, a seventeen year old military specialist working for the secret organization MITHRIL, has been assigned to protect the latest "Whispered" candidate Kaname Chidori. To complete this task Sousuke will have to deal with enemies from his past as well as the occasional panty thief. Unfortunately for Sousuke, the toughest part of his mission isn't only protecting Miss Chidori but also getting used to living an average High School students life, no easy task for someone raised on the battlefield.

When I first started watching this series, I had very high hopes for this, due to many of my friends saying great things about this series. You can safely say that I was not disappointed.
This series follows a member of the Mithril organization, Sousuke Sagara. He has been assigned with the task of protecting a high school girl, Chidori Kaname, from terrorists and other bad people. To do this, he has to enroll in her high school. Of course, when Sousuke is a stiff with no experience or knowledge whatsoever when it comes to socializing with other people, trouble is predestined to arise.
The story of this anime series is pretty good. In one moment, you're watching an intense and serious battle situation, where giant robot fights it out with futuristic technology, and in the next, you're watching a really good high school comedy. This series changes between those two a lot, and it's done well, because you get a mix of genres, varying from mecha to high school comedy at its best. This makes the story really enjoyable. There's one flaw, however, and that's the all to open ending of the series. But then again, it has a sequel, so I'm okay with that.
I really loved the animation style in this series. It didn't have a lot of unique features, if any at all, so I can't and won't give it a top score. There was however no noticeable flaws, and some very cool CGI at times (usually I'm not a fan of CGI in anime, but it was done pretty well here).
The soundtrack of this anime was, well, pretty average. It can boast about good OP and ED themes, but aside that, it's not very much to listen to at all.
The series feature a lot of various characters, from the un-killable bad guy to the stiff, no-experience-in-socializing military kid and the ever so normal teenage girl. There's a lot of other various characters (like a pacifistic girl who's the leader of the good guys' organization (at least she's the captain of their main submarine)), and the woman-loving, easy-going guy. Yes, the characters can seem very unoriginal, but I still enjoyed watching them. There was not a lot of character development present; aside a teeny bit on Chidori and Sousuke's part.
All in all, this was a very enjoyable anime series, and I'm keeping my hopes up for the sequel, as well as the spin-off. If you enjoy some good action as well as high school humor, you should definitely watch this series.

STORY
8/10
Basically, Sargeant Sagara Sousuke, from the anti-terrorism organization Mithril, goes undercover to protect Chidori Kaname, a girl who holds the key to "Black Technology" and is targeted by a terrorist and mastermind criminal. The twist is that Sousuke is socially retarded and he enjoys using his military knowledge in everyday life which causes all kinds of problems and hilarious situations. This definitely was not one of the more believable shows I’ve encountered. How could one of the world’s most feared and professional military units have a 16 year old commander who tolerates abuse from her peers and subordinates? If you can get past this (I did), the storyline was pretty good.
ANIMATION

As expected from GONZO, the animation was good. The character and mecha designs weren’t the most original I’ve encountered. One good point worth mentioning was the contrasting choices of colors. The battle/war scenes were expectedly dark and brooding, whilst the naïve and cheerful school environment was vibrantly bright. It was very nice and clean, and very colorful with the variety of characters' hair colors.The unimpressove cg for the submarine was the only thing that bothered me though. Most of the animation was pretty good, but it didn't really leave a big impression on me.
MUSIC

The OP and ED were extremely pleasant songs. The ED was especially serene. Even though I didn’t listen to it in full after all 24 episodes, it definitely was near to that. The voice actors also really fit their characters. From the emotional Chidori to serious Sousuke.
CHARACTERS

This is the forte of FMP. Each and every character is distinct and very likeable. It would be hard not to find a character in this show that you would not like. Also, the chemistry between Chidori and Sousuke really drives the plot forward. My favorite characters have to be Chidori, Sousuke and Testarossa. Chidori looks like an angel but can be a tough opponent the next moment. Enter Sousuke the professional teenage soldier who has no clue how to live as a normal student. Hence he keeps seeing a terrorist in almost every person, leading him to save her many times from things harmless. It was a joy to watch their relationship develop. I can't quite put my finger on why I like Testarossa but her being there added something to both Chidori and Sousuke characters that would otherwise be missing. She is also a solid character by herself, caring for her crew and trying to do the right thing but she is clumsy to the core and I suspect a hopeless romantic.
ENJOYMENT

Great series and theres still more! Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid still awaits and it has a bundle of surprises just like this series. I couldn't stop watching this series even if my arms were cut off. Pretty grotesque but thats how fun this anime was. I loved the bipolar nature of this series. One episode a light-hearted high school comedy, the next a serious action adventure.
I would recommend this without any hesitation. A fun, enjoyable and entertaining watch.

Both have the slight Mecha feel to them, but not enough to make you go insane. Also, they both have the comedy and school/slice of life elements in them. If you like one, you will probably like the other!
For me the only difference is that FMP has a lot of comdey in it and Code Geass doesn't. Both are, at least for me, the two best animes in the genre(mecha, action...)!
Well all i can say this both animes are similar to each other,the only thing I can mention,that in Code Geass u can see more "Blood" than Full Metal Panic,and in Full Metal Panic u can see a lot of comedy,but they are very similar ,have mechas and all.
Both aboput war and suffering, but Full Metal Panic has a funny side to it as well. Although the stories are different, they are both about the war against different countries and using robots to fight.
As soon as I began watching Code Geass I was reminded of Full Metal Panic!
Whilst the storylines for both series differ greatly they're both similar in the sense that they aren't your conventional Mecha style anime.
Although Code Geass features a lot more mechs than Full Metal Panic! does, it goes more into the people piloting the mechs, their emotions and relationships and develops each and every character efficiently.
Rather than possessing a storyline along the lines of "Evil mechs are invading, ALL GOOD MECHS LAUNCH AN ASSAULT". Code Geass is similar to Full Metal Panic! in the sense that the story revolves around some form of magical power, in Full Metal Panic's case it's the Whispered and in Code Geass' case it's the Geass and CC. An added bonus, which it also shares with Full Metal Panic!, is that rather than just slapping this magic power on people and saying "Yeah they have this power so they can do stuff" the anime goes into detail about the power and it's origins, although it still keeps a lot of things in the dark for the next season, it makes the power of Geass believable.
Although these anime differ greatly from one another there are still those core elements present in Code Geass that I enjoyed in Full Metal Panic! and would definately reccomend to anyone who's watched FMP! to have a look at Code Geass.
Mecha, Military and I think a bit of romance? Meh. They are both similar at my prespective.
The plot is the same with a huge difference in tone. Both have mechs and such with a main character with a special ability.
In FMP it is the Whispered, while in Code Geass, it is C.C.
The FMP is at best the funniest, however it can, at certain points, be as 'dark' as Code Geass.
FMP is much lighter, with a greater amount of comedy, but both are excellent series that have highly-intelligent characters, war, romance, mecca and a good story
while in code geass, the male lead, lelo command the other female leads cc and kallen, and in fmp, the female lead kaname or tessa basically command sosuke. so in this feature, the sex is totally swaped..In code geass there is just as much mecha action as fmp. they both involve a special weapon that both protagonist and anatogonist control and as they struggle for victory. In code geass the special weapon was the Avalon, and the Lancelot and the other 9 knights of the round. But in fmp its the landad driver. FMP focuses on comedy and current settings, while code geass is sci fi and is set in the future and doesnt go for the comedy as much... in the end, i think these 2 great anime is interconnected. one literally reminds me of the other.. and up until now, i havent heard of any1 who likes fmp but doesnt like code geass... i greatly recommend it !!!!!!!!!
They share the same basic concept of war and strategy. And also the use of robot machines that beat the crap out of stuff.
High school guy who's part of a military group in an alternate-history version of modern Japan protects a female who's close to him, has ridiculous-yet-awesome super-powered mech fights, comedy's interspersed throughout the show(FMP! has far, far more comedy though). If you like one, then there's no way you won't like the other.

Both have very similar plots. Gundam 00 is more serious while Full Metal Panic! is comedy oriented.
Main characters have similar backgrounds, and as result they are both pretty emotionless. Both series are mecha, and are about organizations fighting against terrorism. Also, Gundam 00's Innovators are somewhat similar to FMP's Whispered.
they are both about young a kids who was originally from this arab looking country as members of a guerrilla team that took down mechas but then turned good and so became a mercenary and later he meets a person he knew when he was a guerrilla and has to fight him. the only difference is that one killed his own parents and the other didn't talk about them another difference is that one is mostly comedy and the other is mostly action. they both have to do with mechas and robots and having the most advanced weapon on their side. all in all they are amazing animes if you liked one you will like the other.
Very good mecha series, with many political intrigues.
Very similar story line the main character with and evil past trying to make the world better around him
Mecha, action, guns, drama, and a little romance. Both these series are excellent science fiction anime with both protagonists having military experience. They show why they are in the military and doing what they do best.
The plot is kinda the same, both group don't belong to the Army but they are fighting enemy for a better future......Mobile suit Gundam have more awesome fighting but Full metal panic are funnier.
