Both are heavy into the military type setting where a small organization is trying to prevent large conflict. Overall very similar with the female and male relationship and plot. Full Metal Panic will probably seem like a more relaxed show. Both are good watches and I would recommend them both to anyone with any interest in mobile suits.

I can't help but feel like FMP is a parody of Wing - in particular, Sousuke himself reminds me a lot of Heero.

Both shows focus on the drama and hijinks of teenage mecha pilots. FMP comes off more as a parody of Wing and feels more lighthearted. Sousuke himself is more or less Heero Yuy with his socially awkwardness and serious military commitment played for laughs.
