Now I realize that my 10/10 rating seems menacing, but maybe I'm willing to take up the challenge and defend it?

Kiki's Delivery Service doesn't stand out with its main character of a young witch. She seems like an ordinary girl who likes to have fun and be good at what she does, which in her case (or every witch's' case) takes on a whole new level at the age of thirteen. What I'm getting at is that she's designed to be flawed, and what better of a way to dramatize it than during her stay at this random town filled with average modern people.

For my second Hayao Miyazaki movie, I’d say it was pretty good.

I liked the plot of Spirited Away much, much better though. Spirited Away had a more complex and interesting plot, while Kiki’s story was simpler. I guess the advantage of that is it’s easy to understand. As much as I like stories about witches living amongst normal humans, Kiki didn’t really act or live like a witch. She was more of a human who can fly and happens to own a cat that talks.

Since I brought up the subject of the talking cat, I’m glad I picked the English dub over the original read more

Both of these movies have magical themes. Kiki's Delivery Service is slower progressing and dragged a bit in the middle of the movie and Spirited Away is more fast-paced. Kiki's Delivery Service is more basic but they are by the same director and are both very fun to watch.
If you liked the overall feel of Whisper of The Heart, then you will defiantly like Kiki's Delivery Service. Both are Ghibli movies(although Whisper of the Heart isn't directed by Miyazaki), about a girl on a journey to find her place in the world, be who she wants to be, and find love(more so in Whisper of the Heart). Both are in a relaxing setting, where nothing moves too fast or too slow, and both have great themes of life(growing up, being yourself, love, dreams, etc).Shizuku and Kiki are both similar in personality. Both are movies that will leave an impact on you of some sort, and will leave you with a good feeling inside.

Whisper of The Heart has a spin-off story called The Cat Returns.

Kiki's Delivery Service feels a little more finished(Whisper of The Heart feels like it should have had 5-10 more minutes of movie before the ending)

Whisper of The Heart is more realistic, while Kiki's Delivery Service has magic.

Both have surprising facts(Whisper of The Hearts OP is a Japanese version of an American folk song, and the ED for Kiki's Delivery Service is later covered by Maaya Sakamoto for the OVA(soon to be TV adapted) Tamayura).
