Majo no Takkyuubin

Flying Witch is the high school TV-series equivalent of Kiki's Delivery Service. Likewise, Kiki's Delivery Service is a pre-teen film equivalent of Flying Witch. Both start with the similar premises of young witches leaving home to start their independent life far away from their family. Adorably cute slice of life shows with a similar atmosphere and a hint of magic. 

Both shows are a coming age story revolving around witches. General premise is that in both stories, a young witch sets out on her own to finish their training and become a fully fledged witch. Oh yeah, and they both have black cat familiars. Flying Witch has a slightly more relaxed and comedic atmosphere than Kiki's Delivery Service, but both are great watches non-the-less.  

Both are pretty chill story about a "young" witch girl in a normal city. 

Both feature a young witch who moves to another town as a rite of passage. Both contain typical witch elements such as a flying broom and a black cat and both have a very relaxed peaceful atmosphere. 

If you're into anime/movie that's got adorable and sweet witches and a good plot like Majo no Takkyuubin (Kiki's Delivery Service), then Flying Witch is definitely for you. And the MCs of both anime have similarities, e.g. Kiki = Makoto, Jiji = Chito, etc. 

These two shows are about witches in training living a somewhat normal life with a bit of magic. They portrait traditional witches in a very simple but almost realistic way. One could say Flying Witch is like a modern version of Kiki's Delivery Service. They are very peaceful and perfect if you're interested in classic witches and magic. Would even recommend these two for people not fond of the Magic genre like me, because I enjoyed both. 

The principles of witches in both animes are very similar. In both animes the witches travel out to different cities to find a city with no witch and become that city's witch. Both animes also have a very simple story lines which may appeal to both viewers in my opinion. 

Both series are about a girl moving to a new town to further study magic and find their place in society. Both the film and series, follow Kiki and Makoto as they interact with the denizens of their new town, though Kiki's story is fundamentally a coming of age story while Flying Witch focuses on creating that soothing iyashikei atmosphere. Both are slice of life series with a down to earth magical system.  

Both MC are witches. Both shows have strong female characters. Kiki Delivery Service is a masterpiece by Miyazaki (Ghibli Studio) so animation an design is far higher, nevertheless Flying Witch deserves a watch if you liked Kiki 

Both are witches and both are calming, Iyashikei animes. Highly recommend enjoying both! 

Witches that can fly and are young, sweet and kind. Both have a laid-back easy going feel to them. They start with the witches being required to leave home at a young age and begin establishing themselves in the world. find their own way to the life they wish and need to live. The two girls have very similar sweet dispositions. Neither one is over-powered but rather each has a few unique skills that help them find their way. 

Similar to Kiki's Delivery Service, Flying Witch is a heartwarming anime with magical elements and slice-of-life storytelling. It follows a young witch named Makoto who moves to the countryside to live with her cousins and continue her magical training. Like Kiki, Makoto must balance her magical abilities with the challenges of everyday life, and the series is full of heartwarming moments and delightful characters. 

Both Anime take supernatural elements and tell delightful and charming story. One bases the supernatural elements off the Western culture found in Europe and the other is based off Japan. They also have a historical element of something that has been lost. 

Both have the same director. Both of the characters(which are female) are moving away from home. They both struggle with different situations on their own. And somewhere along they are helped by friends/neighbors. Basically, young female characters wandering around a fantasy land. In the end they both become strong and independant :] 

Both are Ghibli films directed by Hayao Miyazaki. They have similar art, character designs, and beautiful soundtracks composed by Joe Hisaishi. Both anime have coming of age elements, and focus on a young girl who is struggling with her problems. Both anime also have magical elements, and create an overall similar mood. 

Studio ghibli flavour 

A new world. Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service both follow two young ladies who travel into a new place, learning about the way life works, as an outlier, in those areas. In doing so, they go and get jobs to fit in with others that are different to them, as well as needing to have a stable place to live in. Spirited Away does this with Chihiro working in the spirit world. Delivery Service does this with Kiki living in a bakery offering postal service. Both are good anime movies for families made by Studio Ghibli and directed by Miyazaki Hayao. Amazing OST and visuals, high and low.  read more 

Made by the same studio, they give me similar vibes too. 

Both are wonderfully animated children's movies featuring witchcraft with a European inspired setting. They share a similar artistic style which makes sense given the similar premises and given Studio Ponoc's origins as a spin-off of Studio Ghibli. Both the protagonists experience great character growth over the course of the films and have the traits of adventurousness, curiosity, and being strong-willed. Both of these films are instant classics and must-watches for any fan of magical girls or young female protagonists.  

Both films have similar art style and animation, also both have a similar sense of adventure and focus on magic and witchcraft. Also, the films have a teenage girl as a protagonist, as well as similar elements, such as a flying broomstick and a black cat. 

Both animes are about witches and the main character is female featuring a black cat in both. Both very well told and if you enjoyed watching one, chances are you will enjoy watching the other. 

Both revolve around broomstick-flying girls with charming manners and enchanting appearances. I'm glad that a lot of former Ghibli members united in Studio Ponoc to carry on the exceptional look of their animations and universally appealing screenplays, we can't thank them enough. 

These two movies have similar themes where magic comes to play with phenomenal female leads. 

The corresponding theme for both of these are... witches! The two anime movies, one being two hours and the other 30 minutes, are set in the ordinary world. Those ordinary worlds though presents magic to witchcraft, opening up the witch presence in the world. The stories follow two young girls who decides to take witchcraft and, as the movies progress on, they start to learn different things in both witch aspect and the experience of independence and such. The main difference is that Kiki goes delivering things whilst she sets in town, and Kagari goes to a witch academy, going towards her dreams. 'Kiki's Delivery Service' is more of a SoL than 'Witch Academy', but either way they both share a really magical atmosphere being both fun and lovely; they have extremely delicious and fluent animation, being practical in the MC's movements on the brooms especially, and the OST brings out the magical feeling even more. If you really enjoyed the movie feel of one of the shows whilst loving the whole witch aspect, then you'll definitely enjoy the other. read more 

Two amazing stories about the cute little witches :) 

- both main characters are excited to become "real witches" - both main characters start off optimistic, but later face oppostion from others about being a witch / personal views on being a witch - both main characters have to learn a thing or two about independence and face reality  

Both tell a lighthearted story about a young female witch protagonist venturing in a new environment, while learning magical and life lessons. 

Both anime are light hearted slice of life adventure movies about a witch finding her place in the world. They are wondrous movies that will put a smile on your face. 

Tales of young women finding their passions. While Kiki is a more fantastical story, the two stories both have slice of life elements, gorgeous Ghibli scenery, realistic and charming female protagonists, and of course, adorable cat characters! Both films are great for kids, especially girls. 

They're both made by the same studios and same people. Both are down to earth simple stories that have a lot of whimsy in different ways. Both feature young teenage girls just trying to live theirs and solve simple problems that young teenagers would have to deal with. 

I feel like especially in the west Whisper of the Heart isn’t as well known and it’s such a shame. Both are incredibly endearing stories about young girls trying to find their place in the world. Where Kiki mixes it up with fantasy, Whisper of the Heart doesn’t have as much of it, but it doubles in realistic representation. The romance is a little bit more accentuated but it doesn’t belittle either characters involved and it’s honestly heartwarming 

Whisper of the Heart and Kiki's Delivery Service share many similarities in their themes and coming-of-age stories. Both films center around a young girl who is trying to find her place in the world and pursue her dreams. They explore the challenges of growing up, including issues of self-doubt, insecurity, and the pressure to fit in. Ultimately, both films deliver heartwarming and inspiring messages about the power of perseverance, individuality, and the importance of following your dreams. 

Both are about witches/wizards. 

Both are Ghibli anime directed by Hayao Miyazaki. They both focus on a young girl who lives in a magical world. Both anime have witches and wizards in them. Also, they both have great art & animation, soundtracks composed by Joe Hisaishi, as well as lovable characters and a similar atmosphere. 

Magic. Howl's Moving Castle and Kiki's Delivery Service both feature wizards/witches in their stories. With Delivery Service shining them in good light, in how helpful they are, Moving Castle does it in a darker light, saying true to stereotypical witches in stories. Although there are some good magic users to counteract. Both are good anime family movies made by Studio Ghibli and directed by Miyazaki Hayao.  

They're both Miyazaki style journeys through an amazingly wholesome world. 

Little witch academia is the truly the fulfillment of the spirit of kiki's delivery service into a full tv series. The main parallel is that both have a young female protagonist who are striving to become witches. The difference is that the tone and style. Kiki follows the convention of ghibli's, which is a beautiful presentation with a sweet and laid back story. While little witch academia wholly subscribes to the gainax/trigger convention which is bombastic action, slick animation and a particular comedy.  

- Both Little Witch Academia and Majo no Takkyuubin feature protagonists that are witches. While LWA does include witches that have been born into a witch family and are now learning to develop their powers (like Kiki in Majo no Takkyuubin), the main character (Akko) was born a human who is now striving to become a witch. - Both LWA and Majo no Takkyuubin are set in worlds in which witches exist alongside normal humans that lack magical powers. - Both feature main characters (Akko and Kiki) that set out on a personal journey of independence and introspection in order to understand more about magic and themselves. - Both Akko and Kiki maintain a position of being "othered" at first, and labeled as an outcast. In Akko's case it is by the pure-blood witches at the academy, and in Kiki's case it is by the other non-magic human children she attempts to befriend once arriving in town. - Both Akko and Kiki eventually find people that will accept them and befriend them for who they are despite their differences (Sucy and Lotte befriend Akko, and Ursula and Osono befriend Kiki). - Both appear to have themes that comment on the complex relationship between tradition and modernity (I will expand on this, once more episodes are released). I will add more as the series progresses (if there happens to be more similarities I find along the way). read more 

Both have an adorable female main character. <3 Great plot. Both MCs are surrounded by lovable supporting characters. Witchcraft. <3 

Even their titles sound similar. Jokes aside, Majo no Takkyuubin definitely inspired Majo no Tabitabi, but their story and selling points were different. Both protagonists are young flying witches that leave their home and start a journey to become witches. They visit other towns to gain experience and learn wizardry. The premise might be similar but in fact, since Majo no Tabitabi is a TV series it is a bigger journey and shows many different stories; while the first town visit in Majo no Takkyuubin is more substantial and makes the movie plot. Kiki learns and matures, while Elaina looks more like an adventurer and observer throughout the series. So it's interesting to see the different approaches these two anime take about young flying witches. read more 

similarities : - both are set into a similar period of time ( or at least i think ) - both main characters are young girls trying to be a better witch - both main characters are kind and hard working - main characters uses a broom to get where they need to go more often than not - similar japanese title differences : - different tones - one is a movie and the other is a series - the witches in the series seem to be way more powerful - the series has more action 

Arrietty and Kiki's Delivery Service don't have much in common, but they both have this calm sense of adventure even though the actions that happen aren't hysterical or drastic. They are both small-scaled adventures in an eased and natural sense. Also, both are good anime family movies made by Studio Ghibli. Great OST and visuals all around.  

Kiki's delivery service and the animal crossing movie both have a girl moving to a new city/town to follow her dreams or discover herself. I like both movies because they are similar to a slice of life yet with fantasy and adventure flairs. In addition, both animes have talking cats so if you like talking cats then you'll defo like both animes xDD  

Resettle. My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service both revolve around people resettling for a new life. Neighbor Totoro does this with the Kusakabe family living in the countryside. Delivery Service does this with Kiki living in an unfamiliar town trying to make the most of what she can as a witch. Both are good classic anime family movies, well animated too, made by Studio Ghibli and directed by Miyazaki Hayao.  

Both are a Studio Ghilbli film about witches, there's also a talking black cat in both movies 

Integrate. Wolf Children and Kiki's Delivery Service both follow people who must integrate into this new life trek they have embarked on. Wolf Children does this with Hana's family having literal wolf children within, and the literal struggles that go with it. Delivery Service does this with Kiki and her time in training as a witch in town she migrates to. In addition to this, Ame, Yuki and Kiki are all undergoing practice for the real world order with Ame and Yuki needing to understand where they are in society and how to control themselves, and Kiki needing more practice in order to become a better witch. All three of these journies, start to end, are written well. Even Hana who is significantly older than the three undergoes her lessons to better herself as a mother. Everyone is learning. Both are great family anime fantasy movies. Wolf Children feeling much more dramatic than the more chilled Delivery Service.  read more 

Vast friends. Ponyo and Kiki's Delivery Service both have the same relationship in coordinating friendship relations between different kinds of people. With Ponyo, half-goldfish half-human girl Ponyo befriends human Sousuke. Delivery Service does a similar trick with the witch Kiki and humans she comes across, namely Tombo and Ursula. Both are good anime family movies made by Studio Ghibli and directed by Miyazaki Hayao.  

Feline friend. Kiki's Delivery Service and She and Her Cat: EF doesn't have much in common apart from a nice cat and human relationship. Delivery Service is casual and stereotypical with Kiki being a witch, suiting a cat as a companion. She and Her Cat: EF is more romantic, with Daru narrating his love for Miyu. Both are good anime, with She and Her Cat: EF being much shorter than the movie Delivery Service. 

Yeah, I think it's both about cheery girls who love adventures and would do anything they please to see the world through their eyes. 

I felt as if Kiki's Delivery Service and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time both shared a character that underwent the same kind of reconfiguration from start to finish. Kiki and Makoto are slightly naive about how things operate, and without going into too many spoilers, they both end up sharing the same fate in some way. Both are great anime movies with slight touches of romance, though TokiKake follows a sci-fi route in comparison to a magic route followed in Delivery Service.  

Both anime involve magic in a somewhat realistic setting. Sakura and Kiki experience a lot of things through the story that make them growing up and accept their role. It's like a growing up of age story, and in both anime the main character learn how to take their responsabilities and to become more adult. Also there's a romance that is involved in both anime. There's a sweet, cute and kind of childish atmosphere in both anime. Kiki and Sakura are adorable characters who are very kind and sensitive.  

Both of these movies are made by Ghibli, has a young female protagonist and a fantasy world. It's an perfect movies for children, but as an adult you can also find way more in those two than just an generic children animation.
