If you've never seen Dragon Ball Z, this is the version to watch. Asides from a preference to American dubbing, Kai's better focus by cutting out filler does wonders. The hand drawn and remastered animation without a doubt still hold up, the fight scenes still feel visceral and impactful. There's not much to say, it's Dragon Ball Z without filler and without that crappy Funimation music job. There's nothing here that's going to blow your mind, but there are many moments engraved into anime culture that's worth watching it for.

Definitely one of my Favorite anime's, I think this series is better in a way that it follows the manga and does not show any unnecessary things. I've had great Nostalgic memories with this anime plus by watching this series the story of dragon ball z was a greater Commitment to the memory which would help with the story of Dragon ball Super. This anime has great character overall and the action of this anime was outstanding. I would suggest everyone to watch this anime again before watching Dragon Ball Super

The whole reason i and i think many others would watch Dragon Ball Kai 2014 (not to be confused with the excellent Dragon Ball Kai 2009) is for a faithful adaption of the source material. This fails catastrophically.

About mid way into the anime you will notice that episodes suddenly fall into a snails pace and start to drag with pointless scenes, filler and godawful humour.

The art is decent i really cant complain about it. All of your favourite characters are brought back in better quality.

The sound is also good. Its no Bruce Faulconer but it works and it sounds like what i think the read more

The Controversy surrounding Dragon Ball Z Kai's OST

Kenji Yamamoto's soundtrack for Dragon Ball Z Kai is a callback to the Dragon Ball Z soundtrack by Shunsuke Kikuchi. Many saw it as a return to form by Toei, however after fan backlash and an investigation by the studio, it became apparent that Yamamoto's score was not entirely his own.
