Binbougami ga!

Ichiko Sakura lives life on easy mode. Blessed with good fortune, she has everything she has ever wanted, including beauty, intelligence, and wealth. Momiji Binboda is a goddess of poverty. In stark contrast to Ichiko, she is cursed with misfortune, such as a perpetual cast on her arm, a flat chest, and a box under a bridge for a home.

Their lives collide when Momiji lives up to her title and delivers some unfortunate news to Ichiko: her large amount of luck is due to her subconsciously draining the luck from those around her! Momiji has been tasked with stealing back Ichiko's fortune before she leaves everyone without enough luck to even survive. But Ichiko, with the help of the wandering monk Bobby Statice, manages to fight off the poverty goddess. This defeat forces the goddess to enlist reinforcements in the form of Kumagai, her teddy bear familiar, and the masochistic dog god, Momoo Inugami.

Insanity ensues as Ichiko's quiet life is replaced with daily battles for her fortune. To survive the chaos, Ichiko will need all the luck she can get in Binbougami ga!!

Such a hilarious show. Ichiko is the perfect stuck up girl who only cares about herself. When Momiji comes to bring her down to everyone elses level, it just flows so well. Their dynamic, and the voice actor's chemistry is fantastic. There's multiple times I was watching the show where I had to pause it just to laugh out loud.

It's full of references to other popular anime as well. I wouldn't say it leans on that though. It's got plenty of jokes on it's own. The characters act in believable ways, and even have growth throughout the series. Despite being a comedy, it has a ... continuous story, and a lot of emotional moments that didn't feel cheesy.

The big downside for me is it does have quite a bit of fanservice, and "boob" related jokes. Two character's whole personalities are about being perverted. They did have some funny jokes as well though. Also the show does a bit of fourth wall breaks as well, that I enjoyed.

Overall, one of the funniest anime I have ever watched, only brought down a bit by the fanservice. It doesn't look like it's ever getting a season 2, but we can always hope!

Mixed Feelings

Binbougami ga! is an anime that is suppose to be focusing on entirely on comedy.It has is own comedy but it just being at the level of below gintama if by comparison. As i like to give an fine rating , the story feels being intervene by the genre romance made sudden down turn that make the show in the later episodes turn into an average of a romcom.Moreover being anime of 13 episode, Binbougami ga! should be generously be at 15/20 episodes due to the show somehow being compressed at the reason of budget and time slot constrain.

It is average in terms of story ... but the comedy is enjoyable.

This anime has nice visuals and surprisingly weak story that ruins it. It has plenty of references to other anime, plenty of attempts at fanservice, and plenty of attempts at humor. Unfortunately, most of those attempts fail.

Detailed breakdown below:

Story: 3/10.
While the primse isn't horrible, the story eventually forget about the premise completely (and heroine's powers), and large number of references to other anime do not improve it. The issue with references is that in this case they are not fun, feel out of place and the anime being referenced usually is very popular. Supposedly humorous attempts usually fall flat, and the story attempts to shift ... its mood all over the place. Basically, the events are never convincing or interesting to watch, and it looks like a collection of more or less randomly stitched together scenes. There are also too many screens with manga-style gags, like when a character explains some sort of new "gadget" in silly voice.

Art: 7/10
Surprisingly good. Characters look nice, and have style different from standard cookie cutter modern "triangular face" anime. Animation is good, when it happens (meaning when cahracters aren't busily explaining something.

Sound: 6/10:
Soundtrack and voice acting works well enough, and there isn't much to add.

Characters: 3/10:
Every single character is highly stereotypical and unbelievable. I think the only interesting ones were Ranmaru and certain cat, and that's it. Character's behavior is highly inconsistent for the duration the series, and they pretty much flip mood to something completely different to go along with the plot. Interactions are very often cringeworthy.

Enjoymenet: 4/10:
Didn't really like it and felt like I should've watched something else instead.

Overall: 4/10
While the visuals are nice, I can't recommend it. The anime could've been much better, but storywriting and attempts at inserting anime references ultimately ruined it.

The best idea is to skip it, although you may want to check out few first episodes and see if you can handles this anime's weak storywriting. Visuals are good, I'm just not sure if enduring the story is worth seeing them. Of course, there are worse out there, but still, this is not an incredibly good show.
