Binbougami ga!

This anime has nice visuals and surprisingly weak story that ruins it. It has plenty of references to other anime, plenty of attempts at fanservice, and plenty of attempts at humor. Unfortunately, most of those attempts fail.

Detailed breakdown below:

Story: 3/10.
While the primse isn't horrible, the story eventually forget about the premise completely (and heroine's powers), and large number of references to other anime do not improve it. The issue with references is that in this case they are not fun, feel out of place and the anime being referenced usually is very popular. Supposedly humorous attempts usually fall flat, and the story attempts to shift ... its mood all over the place. Basically, the events are never convincing or interesting to watch, and it looks like a collection of more or less randomly stitched together scenes. There are also too many screens with manga-style gags, like when a character explains some sort of new "gadget" in silly voice.

Art: 7/10
Surprisingly good. Characters look nice, and have style different from standard cookie cutter modern "triangular face" anime. Animation is good, when it happens (meaning when cahracters aren't busily explaining something.

Sound: 6/10:
Soundtrack and voice acting works well enough, and there isn't much to add.

Characters: 3/10:
Every single character is highly stereotypical and unbelievable. I think the only interesting ones were Ranmaru and certain cat, and that's it. Character's behavior is highly inconsistent for the duration the series, and they pretty much flip mood to something completely different to go along with the plot. Interactions are very often cringeworthy.

Enjoymenet: 4/10:
Didn't really like it and felt like I should've watched something else instead.

Overall: 4/10
While the visuals are nice, I can't recommend it. The anime could've been much better, but storywriting and attempts at inserting anime references ultimately ruined it.

The best idea is to skip it, although you may want to check out few first episodes and see if you can handles this anime's weak storywriting. Visuals are good, I'm just not sure if enduring the story is worth seeing them. Of course, there are worse out there, but still, this is not an incredibly good show.

This anime does not get better after the first episode. So if you like the first episode, you should keep watching. If you do not, I suggest that you find something else to watch.

The humor mostly relies on two polar opposites personalities interacting and all the conflicts that occur due to their competing personalities. It also has a lot of references to popular animes, mostly notable a lot of Lupin III, and a lot of 4th wall breaking. The anime is however very quotable, with the most funny parts being individual lines and not the anime as a whole.
